Teri Hatcher Vanity Fair

Teri Hatcher Vanity Fair

"This is something I’ve tried to hide my whole life. Any day of the week I could feel that sort of pain. I haven’t tried to kill myself, but I’ve certainly thought about it… Here’s what I anticipated. He did this, he gets off, and Teri ends up on the cover of a tabloid… These are haunting things I’ve remembered all my life. The most horrible thing, that has stuck with me all my life, is that he was touching me and doing things to me and he said, ‘Doesn’t that feel good?’ I said, ‘No, it doesn’t.’ He said, ‘Well, someday you’ll know what I’m talking about’… I think [my parents'] way of dealing with things is denial and guilt. Nobody wanted to talk about it. But all I did was blame myself… I still have trouble embracing that he really is in jail, and staying there. Like the acting-fraud police are going to come take away my SAG award and Golden Globe, and the real police are going to come tell me I made it all up…  I have so much pain. I’m a woman who carries around all these layers of fear and vulnerability. I’m trying to be my powerful me." — Teri Hatcher, on being sexually molested at the age of 5

Desperate HousewivesTeri Hatcher, 41, reveals that her then 64-year-old uncle Richard Hayes Stone sexually molested her 35 years ago in the April 2006 issue of Vanity Fair on newsstands tomorrow. Stone received 14 years in prison.  More pictures in the gallery including Teri Hatcher at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party!

Why now? Is Desperate housewives doing bad….ummm yup!! I am sure it is 100% true but..I question her motives. I hope I am wrong, that would very sad to see a women use something so tragic for sweeps…

  • audrey

IS DH doing bad? u must be kidding with me, it’s still in the 1 show on sundays or 2nd to grey’s anatomy…. u’re retarded

  • audreywho?

why don’t you go read the ratings little girl!! You are retarded!!!

  • Silly Bitches

Silly Bitches with an average of 24 million viewers I would say they are far from doing bad.

  • Bixby

I have 1 quesiton for all of you including Teri – who cares!

  • Bixby is 100% right

    Bixby you are 100% right!

  • fallgirl29

jesus i am so sick of this walking corpse. s t f u terri no one cares. you are done..get over yourself.

  • jasmine

Why aren’t more people enraged that her silence led to the death of a young girl?!?!? Opening your mouth now is nothing to be proud of Teri; perhaps if you would’ve saved her life, this publicity you are now getting would’ve been worth it. I hope you dream about this young girl taking her own life, for years to come!

  • slj

Maybe is a not right time to talk about such an ugly thing. But Teri felt different and I am giving her hand and whish her to forgive, forget and enjoy this life.

  • alecbaldone

I think Teri H is a beautiful woman and DH is a watchable show but for her to wait all these years to reveal this news now stinks of a publicity stunt.

  • Wendy

When should she have revealed it? People would critize her no matter when, and say it was for this or that reason. Why reveal it at all is my question. I support her courage for disclosing it if the reason is to help others.

  • Anonymous Girl

As a survior of child sexual abuse, i am saddened by your insensitive comments above. How was teri responsible for the girl’s death? That is absurd? Millions of women are abused every day. Their silence is not the reason why other people get abused or why molestors continue to prey on children. Do you know how hard it is to admit to sexual abuse? Imagine you are a young child ( I was 9 when I was raped) and the person – usually someone who is responsible for you – threatens you and tells you never to repeat what happened. I spent years trying to deal with this issue. i only admitted to my abuse a few years ago and I am 31! It took me 20 years to find the strength to feel as if I would not be hurt if I spoke up.So many of my girlfriends have been abused. i go to a support group and there are girls there who were abused by grand-fathers, fathers, siblings, cousins, next door neighbors. A lot of these men re successful and in appearance normal. Ii thnk it is great that Teri is talking about this when she is famous. If she had talked about this when she was a nobody, we would not be talking about the issue. Whatever her motives for speaking out is not the concern. What is important is that a girl somewhere may find the courage to speak up because teri spoke up.I was desperately looking for people who had gone through what I had gone through as a child – I thought I was the only one who had a father who made her sleep with him.Teri has reached a great level of humanity for me right now. I hpe this forces us all to talk about the issue. Even if we crticize her, I guess at least chld abuse is not some awful secret anymore. Any child can be subject to it. If you know a child that migth be abused, do something. Watch your children carefully. Know who they are around. Let them talk to you. And most importantly, don’t judge a person on how long they take to face abuse.Only God can judge. Teri you have my full support.

  • chuncha

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m sure getting tired of seeing all these desperate housewives everywhere. The midget and her basketball boyfriend, the redhead alien looking one planning her wedding, the old blond dating a bald has been singer, and now Terri reveals she was molested, I’m feel bad for her, but ENOUGH already.

  • Chuncha the Chunky Pig

Chuncha. you sound jeaolous. You must be a desperate housewife yourself. Chuncha the Chunky? Hehe. the issue at hand is Teri’s abuse. Why are you straying with your dumbness? Oh, cause you’re dumb. Sorry. Eat me!

  • I found it!!

A HA!!!! She has a book out today!!! Now I get it!!!

  • You Found It In your Ass!

Found It You Dumb Ass: Stars never do interviews or covers without having a project in the works to promote!!!!!Why is it no one complained when Chinnifer went to Vanity Fair to whine about Brad leaving but Teri divulging an important issue is being crticized. people are so dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!I say more power to her. She is talking about something important instead of her "like" haircolor….

  • #16 LOSER

How sad than….. What a way to sell a book. Why can’t she donate her time to a shelter or abuse hotline… some old trampy lady using a horrible situation to sell books is disgusting… Whatthe hell does JA have to do with anything. Geez you guys are so sad about BPAJ…. get over the fact that they HATE YOU STALKERS!!!! you are a LOSER!!!! You are the reason the PAPS chase them down, you are SSOOOO SAAADDDD.

  • You Found It In your Ass!

Also she did not divulge this info in her book ass wipe. It’s just in the interview. Promote away Teri- make these child molesters suffer!

  • # 18 is a loser

What about the JA question… HUH??? Can’t answer that one huh? Get ovet it, you are a STALKER to the CELEBS…. You know they HATE YOU!!!! They would not even glance back at your Ugly face!!!

  • #19 is a Psyschotic Moron Sorry Excuse for A Human

#19: I am not a fan of JA nor AJ, what do they mean in my life? I am just saying the same people who applaud JA for complaining about losing Brad on teh cover of Vanity fair can’t accept that Teri is talking about abuse in the very same magazine.Wow, you sound like a pathetic Psycho. You have lowered yourself to condemning a woman for taking about her incestuous childhood. Does she not have the right? Who are you Moron to judge? How dare you determine why she is doing it? Who gives a SHIT WHY??? The point is she is talking you Ass crap. It’s been like you who probably let Michael Jackson off after molesting young boys. You’re a sad excuse for a human. PIG! You sound miserable. Stop binging on your Cheetos and corn dogs slime and stp judging.I hope people like you never procreate! For you are the ones whose kids get molested and your foul ass does not know why. TRASH!

  • candy

Give her a break. She’s gorgeous and successful. I think there’s really something to be said for her coming out and talking about such a life tragedy. She’s a wonderful person.

  • Lana

This is one of them "damn if you do, damn if you don’t" situations. People this happened years around 2002? Something like that anyway. Also, I can hardly see how it’s to promote the show cause it’s still doing great. Since people the world everywhere seem to think highly of Oprah, do you know that Oprah kept it secret for many years? She reveal it on her show in 1991? Now is anyone here going to say it was for publicity. Can’t accuse Teri if you don’t also accuse Oprah. Furthermore, it wasn’t like Teri came out and reveal it, she actually helped put the horrible man behind bars. Geez people. I don’t even watch Desperate Housewives and I can’t stand Teri, but gotta give people props for coming forward with this. I’ve volunteers at women’s shelters, and people keep them secret for a very loooooong time. You guys don’t know what it’s like until you talk to someone who went through it and even then you have no idea. Also the fact that she was willing to testify. Wow!! Have you seen the grilling these women go through on the stand? It’s absolute horrendous. If it was me I’ll probably just wish it away and might be too afraid to testify.

  • Lana

Sorry for the very poor English above. I wanted to further add: for the love of (insert Deity of choice) could Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston’s names not come up. You would think this is the last post one would see their names crop up. Admittedly, I’m a fan of AJ, but really people. It’s like a bad relationship that you are all finding difficulty letting go of. The funny thing is, it’s not your relationship.

  • who cares

Found this website at work and I just started reading the blogs… Wow you people have to much time on your hands!! You need to realizethatthese people could give a rats about you… JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!! Keep giving it to them so they can laugh at you fighting back and fourth. So sad.. Teri good for you coming out… all child abusers are worthless human beings, and should be taken out of society FOREVER!!!! I hope that man gets triple the pain in jail everyday that he caused all those innocent girls!!!! That is someone we need to call vile names… not a post from someone you disagree with. GROW UP and see the world around you… not this hollywood fantasy CRAP!!!!

  • michael

If you are jealous of her stardom or her beauty, now you can identify with the price she pays and has paid for each. Either way, I agree with the others that are trying to focus on doing more about the issues that are raised by her outcry…make a donation to your favorite child abuse charity today!

I do not know what Teri Hatcher’s reasons for telling her story of her child abuse. But for those of you who only know what the media sensationalizes, child molesters are thieves. They rob a child of their dignity, their innocense, their right to grow up in a world where children are supposed to be protected by their uncles and other adults in their lives. They are God’s precious gifts to the world. When a child has been molested, they never feel they can fully entrust themselves to someone. They also feel that people are most likely going to deceive them again in some way, and that some dark side must exist in all people. You either blame yourself for being some freak that is somehow worthy of being inflicted by another’s debased perversion, or you mistrust all human beings as possible perpetrators. You live with this paradox your whole life, and even when you are at the top of your game you never know for sure if being successful really makes any difference in the quality of people who surround you. Perhaps they are just more skilled deceivers. Whatever her motives, Teri is doing a good thing by telling her story. Information is power. Even though we live in an age where we consider ourselves to be very familiar with child molesters, children who become victims of child abuse is more pervasive today than it ever was. Sexual predators are not born, they are created. They too were once children. The more we learn about them, the more we can protect children, and possibly develope into a society that recognnizes the warning signs in children who will eventually grow up to victimize children. It is a vicious cycle our society is currently dealing with in a similar manner as the Puritan society in the 1600′s during the Salem Witch Hunts. The question has become: What has happened in a culture that is producing more child molesters than the criminal justice system can keep track of? Forget her motives. This is an issue that needs to be explored in debth, and if Teri can help shead some light on a dark underworld that is reproducing itself at a shocking rate then by all means let her.

  • take it easy

you are all losers, if you dont like teri or her show at least respect them.
its must have been vary hard for teri to admit it, so give her some dignity and stop judging others that you dont even know.
