A Scanner Darkly screen captures

Just got sent some screen grabs from A Scanner Darkly, starring Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, and Woody Harrelson with Robert Downey, Jr.

The movie has already opened in select cities and will continue to open in theaters nationwide through the month of July. Early reviews of the movie have been quite good. Anybody seen it yet? I haven’t but I definitely will very soon.

I remember seeing trailers for this up to two years ago. I can’t wait to see it! It looks really interesting, not to mention visibly pleasing.

is this the kind of movie that you got to really concentrate and not miss a single detail? if so even better. a cool cast, a cool technique along with a brain gym. who could ask for more?

i think that waking life tried to be more than it was. i just wasn’t sold on the storyline and the illustration technique seemed to cover up a vague story. i really have no desire to see scanner darkly though i have read a lot about it and seen the previews. to me linkletter’s style isn’t about growing and expanding. he has caught on to a formula and it all looks the same. plus once he started doing those charles schwab commercials it just took what uniqueness there was to his craft away.

i think the technique they are (or he is) using is something new but i predict it will be used a lot in cinema and tv. it has the great "real" feeling to it even though it is animation. i believe rotoscope or whatever the names is definitely here to stay. although i felt a little funny when i saw the schwab commercial, i think we should get used to watching stuff like that more often. i guess the fact that "scanner darkly" is not the first movie that has been done with the same technique puts a little more burden on the film’s shoulders. because everyone who already saw waking life will be like "ok. saw the cool stuff is old news, what else you’ve got?? which is a good thing; that’s how it will claim its independence.

I saw it on Saturday. It’s one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. Luckily the movie lived up to my expectations. Expect to see some animated lovin’ complete with animated full frontal Keanu.
