Matt Damon Goes Bananas

Matt Damon Goes Bananas

Throughout the third season of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel has made a tradition of closing each show with an apology to Matt Damon for running short on time. Matt finally got his opportunity to be on Wednesday’s show and following a lengthy introduction from Kimmel was cut short once again. As end credits began to roll, a comedic argument ensued, prompting Damon to storm off the stage and into the wings were he was left waiting for his next opportunity for a full Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance. Is he really pissed there or is it supposed to be a joke? I can’t tell. Really.

  • Renee

It’s a joke but it was seriously funny. Matt was great and he played the part so well. I really like Matt Damon now. He has chilled out from his earlier days.

Anger. Management. There’s no need to call names. Especially since you don’t know her and she hasn’t done anything to you. She only speaks the truth.

Isn’t homewrecker something middle-aged spinsters say? In real
life, no one “steals” anyone’s husband, wife, or boyfriend. Unhappy
marriages happen all the time, and then people leave when they
meet someone who fits them better or shows them just how
much incompatibility they were enduring. I really am surprised
that on a modern blog people actually use the word
    “homewrecker”!!!

Matt is soooo much a better actor than his buddy Ben! Glad he’s
    having fun.

I don’t think it was a joke. I think it was serious but that pics were taken afterwards to make it look like all was fine. I think Matt was genuinely pissed. If he wasn’t why would he be throwing so many f-bombs around and so red in the face.

  • LOL

I like Matt D. it looked like a joke how Jimmy K. set MD up with the long intro. has MD been on the daily show yet?

  • Cinnabana

Matt was joking..obviously all the previous shows were a set up
for this joke….i love it! He’s such a cutie and good to see him
    joking around.

  • charone

I like to think it was a joke. After all, Matt hangs with George Clooney (the king of pratical jokes) on a regular bases.

both men are professional Greg would not mess up his being able to get other guess by pulling something like this for real.

But DAMN, it sure looked convincing.

    YAY Matt.

  • angelah

wow I was like  ..i’m glad it was a joke.

  • Mike

Did you people saying it was a joke actually see the video? Frankly, I don’t know how you all could think it wasn’t real. If his face was any redder, it would have needed aloe vera cream to prevent peeling.

Recall that in the movie Goodwill Hunting, Matt Damon (playing Will) argues with his love interest in the movie (Skylar) shouting:

“You don’t want to hear that I got cigarettes put out on me when I was a little kid. That this isn’t surgery”

Well, that was Damon acting as if he was mad and you did not see his face turn as red as it did on Kimmel. Because on Kimmel, it sure looked like Damon’s anger was for real.

Let me press on. So we know that for years Kimmel has being using the “sorry to Matt Damon, we ran out of time” quip. Now, if I am Matt Damon, my sense of humor only goes so far with this. It’s fine to go on with that quip, but when you request that Matt Damon actually appear on the show (his star status is now noteable), you better be prepared not to jerk his chain and put the quip to rest. It was an insult for the show to have did what it did and Damon (who has a large degree of pride) for all intensive purposes–lost it. And I don’t blame him. I blame the show and the idiots in charge of scripting. That’s not the way to attract talent to Kimmel’s show.

Just a theory, but this is what I think happened. Despite Matt coming on the show late, there was still time for an interview when he sat in the chair–not a long one, but nevertheless one that could have allowed Matt to plug his new movie. And I believe Matt was expecting to do that interview (while others may have been in on the full joke, I do not believe Matt was).

But, if I got it right, as soon as Matt sat down, Kimmel went to commercial. Matt was caught somewhat off guard about that and when they returned from commercial Kimmel said sorry to him that he would again “get bumped”, not really in that sense since this was his first time being a guest on the show.

That’s when Damon lost it, saying expletives and don’t do that several times. Not only that, but Kimmel followed him on the way out apologizing and you can see it on Kimmel’s face that he was serious, hardly the stuff of script.

    All just my opinion.

  • Mike

and by the way, I think some of those pics above of Kimmel and Damn looking buddy-buddy were actually taken prior to the show, not after. Just my opinion.

  • Mike

*Damn = Damon in the above post, of course

Hi! I just wonder! Was it a joke?
    It looked so real. Norway

  • Ben

It looked entirely real to me and entirely warranted. That guy took that joke way too far. He looks to be suffering extreme Matt Damon jealously so he made a joke of it.

  • soccer girl

Thank god it was a joke. I love all the Bourne movies I just recently saw Bourne Ultimatum. I have to thank my cousin, because she was the one who told me about it. Matt Damon is sooo CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • marizza

It seemed so very real to me. Matt’s face was so red and he looked so very, very pissed off and I doubt that acting can make natural signs of anger show. What I want and wish to happen though is for the show to invite Matt again and see what they both could say about it. I’m very eager to know. :)
