Ryan Phillippe was on The Early Show this morning talking about his upcoming film Flag of Our Fathers (out today). Here are choice quotes from the interview:
- On his dreams coming true: “This was a dream for me to be able to do a film with that sort of content and these people. My grandfather was my hero. He won a Bronze Star in Germany. He would tell me stories, periodically, usually about mechanical things, tanks and guns, not about death and his friends dying next to him.”
- On working with director Clint Eastwood: “You hear the stories and the mythology, and it’s all true. The guy is incredible. He’s an amazing man. Look at him, 76 years old. He climbed the place we shot Suribachi. They had a helicopter that could have taken him up. The man is out there with two bags over his shoulders at 6 in the morning climbing this mountain. He’s something else.”
- On Oscar night (“Crash” won Best Picture, wife Reese Witherspoon won Best Actress “Walk The Line”): “So surreal. I have little recollection of that night because of how overwhelmed I was in a sensory manner. It’s almost dream-like.”
- On working on another war-related movie (Untitled Kimberly Peirce Project): “The men and women who make that sacrifice and are willing to give up their lives in a lot of cases are heroes to me.”

How did reese get with that….I think its some kind of trend for hot guys to have unattractive women on their arm.
Reese is a lot more talented than him. She’s pretty and successful and he’s jealous of her. What a support. I’d rather have a good than a hot husband.

I cannot belive you people slaming him like that! It proves you only like Ryan when he’s with his talentless, bithcy, and self-centered wife. Ryan is an amazing actor who no one has ever noticed before all because miss perfect steals the limelight. And you should be ashamed for saying Reese deserves better — Ryan is the one who most definately deserves better than a terrible woman like Reese.
I have never really liked him but he is hot, you gotta give him that but his voice (that accent) annoys the hell outta me.

I saw FOOF last night and it is an incredibly moving film with an important message. Everyone should see this film. Ryan is beautiful. He and Reese are a great couple!
Why isn’t this article listed on the Ryan Phillippe category? Along with many others published previously? The last thing listed there is “The proud and the pretty” and that’s quite an old article. Resolve that Jared.
