Angelina Jolie Serves Sikh
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has been on a two-day visit to the Indian capital, listening to Sikh children playing religious music at the Khalsa Diwan Welfare Society in New Delhi, an organization run by Afghan refugees of the Sikh faith for other refugees. She chatted with students - some of the 9,500 Afghan refugees under the direct care of the UN refugee agency in India — about their passion for learning English and computer skills.

Angelina also made time to talk with a refugee woman from Myanmar in the one-room home she shares with her three children in New Delhi. The woman, one of the 1,750 refugees from Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) under the care of UNHCR in India, told Jolie that they had fled after her husband was arrested by Burma’s military government.

Angelina Jolie for UNHCR
NEW DELHI: Giving papparazi the slip, Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie on Saturday spent some time with Sikh Afghan and Myanmarese refugees in the capital.
Accompanied by her five-year-old son Maddox, Jolie arrived in the capital just past noon and drove to the refugee camps run by the Khalsa Diwan Welfare Society and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Clad in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, Jolie, the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and her son listened to Sikh children playing religious music at the Welfare Society run by Afghan refugees of the Sikh faith.
She chatted with the students among some 9,500 Afghan Sikh refugees under the direct care of UNHCR and was appreciative of their passion for learning English and computer skills.
The Hollywood star, in India for shooting a film ‘A Mighty Heart’ on the life of slain Wall Street Journal correspondent Daniel Pearl, also visited a woman refugee from Myanmar in her one-room home where she lives with her three children.
The woman, one of the 1,750 refugees from Myanmar, told Jolie that they fled after her husband was arrested by the military government in Myanmar, a press statement issued by UNHCR said.
“I am grateful to the refugee families who spent time with me today and shared their stories. They are remarkable, courageous people, it quoted Jolie as saying.
Jolie, on a two-day visit here, will be meeting Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma on Sunday.
Jolie will be accompanied by UN officials at the meeting with Sharma and the discussions are expected to centre around issues relating to refugees and children.

I just love the pics . Thanks JJ. You are the best.
I just posted this on the other thread, so sorry for repeating myself.
Hiya BAMZS Fans!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Get out there and see Babel. I saw it with a sold out crowd last night and the movie is incredible. I don’t want to give too much away since many of you are still waiting for Babel to reach a theater near you. What I will say is that Brad does DESERVE a Best Supporting nomination as well as a couple of other actors in Babel. But lets talk about Brad. The man can express more meaning with his eyes than he can with dialogue. I felt every emotion his character Richard felt - frustration, regret, helplessness, love for his wife and children and the realization that he is the last line of defense for his wife and the fear that he might fail her.
Brad became Richard. Soon after his first scene I forgot that I was watching BRAD PITT and to me that is the test of a great actor. When you watch an actor on screen do you see the actor or do you see the character? Do you see the tabloid stories or do you see the character?
The movie is a tearjerker so bring the Kleenex. IMO if you walk out of the theater unaffected by this movie then you have a heart made out of stone. At the end the audience applauded. I intend to see Babel again sometime this week. I have a couple of friends who couldn’t make it last night and I’ve promised to go with them. Believe me, if I didn’t think the movie was that good, there is no way (Brad or no Brad) would I ever pay to see it again at the theater. The movie is worth the additional $10.
i think angelina jolie is a wonderful person, she is an excellant role model and such a caring mother.
Thanks Just Jared. I am glad that AJ made time for her UN work. She looks great and she is dedicated to her UN and humanitarian work. I am so glad that she took Maddox along so that he can interact with the other children and appreciate his mother’s work.
Best wishes and safe travel to BAMZS.
I love the pictures.
I sort of wondered when and where her next UNHCR work would take place.
Angie has so many things to do, and she looks very happy doing them.

Maniston, thanks so much for the review. My sister saw it last night too. She is NOT a big Brad fan, but she also said, that he was very good, as were the other actors. Her showing was sold out too. GOLDEN GLOBE nominations, I believe come out 12/12 or 12/14…….One of the first major wards, of the upcoming season……….
Angie’s first post Shiloh, UNHCR trip!
Angelina the saint, I love her so much.
testing
Oh, I forgot to mention.
Angie wanted her children to see how less fortunate people live so that her children would not be spoiled and also grow up to support every people who need helps. I think it is a great idea. Last summer I took my child to Indonesia to help earthquake victims. Patents tend to spoil their children with lots of materials and too much comfort, so I think it is really good idea for children to see there are people who are suffering. It is good education for children so that they should be less whiny and unselfish.
Good for her!, Good, for them! Her first post Shiloh, UNHCR fieldwork!
She looks so GORGEOUS!
I LOVE ANGIE!
God Bless her!
she really is beautiful inside and out. I love her that is why God always bless her and her family because of her good heart.
I hate those people who insult Angelina and Brad Pitt and their efforts in impoverished countries. People who insult them must evaluate themselves and how much THEY do for the world! I have so much admiration for this woman.
–im also happy knowing she’s accompanied by her five-year-old son Maddox whenever going to the refugee camps, its like for Maddox to be aware in the life he have until Angie came in his life. and of course if he grew up doing this things with Angie sooner or later he will do it in his own…God bless them! Jared thank you for this thread!
What a heart of gold! I love you too Angie and God be with you.
So glad you enjoyed Babel Maniston — loved your post on it — the entire movie and all of the cast is so amazing - which is why I didn’t come back from TIFF solely raving about Brad only. It’s impossible to see this film and not recognize what a collective effort it is. Don’t get me wrong, Brad is wonderful, and deinitely deserving of any honors that come his way….but I felt in the spirit of the movie, and of Brad FOR the movie, being the generous actor he is and how proud he is to be a part of it - the praise should belong to everyone in connection with the film. Gael was brilliant, as were the children from the village who fired the shots, as was the deaf mute teen, but the performance that had me by the throat and wouldn’t let go, is that of the Mexican nanny - it was torturous, and a tour de force.
Switching gears - as I said in the last thread….those photos of Angelina are simply stunning. It’s true what Wyclef said about her being at her most beautiful when she’s in the field.
Man you guys are the best. JJ Audrey MANY THANKS
She is the real deal, what you see is what you get with our Angel….
OK the game isn’t over yet BBL…..
Again thanks for the new thread JJ and Audrey……………….
It1s amazing that she finds time for her UN work too. I would never say she is a saint, but she is definitely doing and giving much more than average people can. God bless her.

It’s great to see Angie getting back into the field with the UNHCR. I also think it’s great that she took Maddox on the trip with her. Even if he didn’t go to the refugee camp with her, they’ll be together in the evening for some one-on-one time like the old days. Plus, the little guy is probably missing Brad so it’s great the Angie took him with her rather than leaving him back at the hotel in Pune.
Angie’s smile warms my hearth.
Love you Angie…
Hi everyone! how are you guys doing this saturday? shoot I have so many shiz to do..argh@!&^

Hello BAMZERS!!! - thanks JJ for this new thread!!!
guli’s a chemist> yawn - why do I get the feeling this is Ritzygal.
saw her at Bradforum.net requesting stuff that I am sure she is going to use here to post her in such a passive agressive manner a la her idol.
Beside, the REAL GULI has funny smilies which makes her so much sincere and nice. Certainly not zzzz as the above poster.
