'Hairspray' Movie Stills

Hairspray movie stills just surfaced and I cannot wait for this film to be released!

Pictured: John Travolta (Edna Turnblad), Queen Latifah (Motormouth Maybelle),
Amanda Bynes (Penny Pingleton), James Marsden (Corny Collins), Zac Efron (Link Larkin), Michelle Pfeiffer (Velma von Tussle), Christopher Walken (Wilbur Turnblad), Brittany Snow (Amber von Tussle), Allison Janney (Prudy Pingleton), Nicole Blonsky (Tracy Turnblad), Elijah Kelley (Seaweed J. Stubbs), Tabitha Lupien (Becky), Hayley Podschun (Tammy), and Kelly Fletcher (Lu Anne).

The movie version of Hairspray hits theaters nationwide July 20.

Fun Tidbit: Ricki Lake, who played Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 film version of Hairspray, will make a cameo as a William Morris talent agent who appears at the Miss Teenage Hairspray 1962 pageant.

If you haven’t seen the Broadway musical of Hairspray, you can catch Ashley Parker Angel, formerly of boy band O-Town, as Link Larkin, starting Jan. 19.

If you’re not familiar with Hairspray or Broadway musicals at all, watch the video below of the original cast of Hairspray: The Musical on The Today Show in September 2002. One of the most fun songs ever!

They filmed this partly at my old high school.

I still won’t see it.

Take note kids, this is what Broadway is all about!!!!!

Thanks for posting that video Jared!! I saw Harvey on the Today Show, but totally missed that cast performance and didn’t even realize it was online (too bad Edna and Wilbur are not included). I LOVE Hairspray and hope the movie does justice to the Broadway production.

this whole thing make me wanna barf on the prince of puke for greenlighting this bullshit.

I fell in love at the Musical version of Hairspray and always enjoyed the older movie. I hope this one can live up to my expectations…it looks like it can

don’t ya’ll think michelle looks a lot like kim catrall?

I just saw the broadway show last week while I was on vacation in NYC. It was freaking awesome!!!!! Diana DeGarmo from American Idol played Tracy Turnblad’s best friend Penny – she was hilarious, one of the best parts of the show!!!

I really hope the movie turns out good, as well! I’m not so sure about Zac Efron playing Link Larkin – Link is supposed to be the stud of the school. I don’t know…The rest of the cast looks good though.

dontseeit…. uhhh Divine is dead.

For those of you who have not seen THE ORIGINAL, rent and/or buy it today. No way can any remake ever touch John Waters’ weird wonderfulness. And no way can any male actor in drag ever hope to remotely fill Divine’s stilettos. Not to mention John Travolta’s hands are waaaaaay too manly to be convincing, unlike Divine’s silky smooth ones.

I can see Queen Latifah in the part of Motormouth Maybelle but even she can’t hope to be any better than Ruth Brown, who was THE female belter of all time — the head of Atlantic (who signed her) called the record company “The House That Ruth Built!”

Christopher Walken might be fun to watch if only for his unique quirkiness.

Michelle Pfeiffer looks great!!! She looks way better than Kim Cattrall (as someone pointed out) and they are both the same age I believe (Michelle was born in ’58), 48.

Amanda Bynes makes this movie worth watching.such a beautiful and talented actress.

i love zac efron to bits

i love the movie hairspray to death they really canged it from the old onr but i’m dieing to see it!!!!!!

can i just say – MICHELLE PFEIFFER ROCKS – umm yeah thank you for your time.

fofoqueira de primeira @ 01/03/2008 at 9:14 am
