McSteamy Looks McSharp

Eric Dane, who plays Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on ABC’s hit drama Grey’s Anatomy, heats up the pages of Best Life, sporting spring’s sharpest new outerwear. Here’s what Eric had to say:

• On integrity: “I’m an honest guy, and I always tell it like it is. I’m not afraid to offend people or hurt their feelings, because I’ve learned that people don’t want to be protected — they want to hear the truth. At the end of the day, as long as you’re honest with people, things will work out for the best.”
• On passion: “I’m living my dream, so I’m happy to work as much as I do. I know I won’t be able to work 90-hour weeks forever, which is why I’m doing it while I’m still young. As long as you love what you do, the rest is easy.”
• On marriage: “Believing in ‘destiny’ and ‘soulmates’ is great, but marriage only works with two people who are working off the same page and are ready to settle down and start a life together. That’s my infinite wisdom of two years.”
• On evolution: “I wasn’t always capable of a committed relationship. Meeting my wife [Rebecca Gayheart] changed everything, but I was still evolving when I met her, so she ended up with an almost finished product. Let’s just say the cookies were only half-baked when she got them.”
