Go Babel!!!
LOVE BAMZS!
Your late, I already Posted This. Lol.
Dreamgirls was great but not oscar material. Congrats to Jennifer Hudson, though!
I knew Dreamgirls was not going to get nominated for best pisture.
The oscars is a popularity contest. I guess if Brad were still with Jennifer he would have warranted an Oscar nod. Or if Dreamgirls had been less black. Every year I am disappointed at the nominations. What happened with Matt Damon, who gave two great performances. I’m done I probably won’t watch unless Brad and Angie are going to be there.
If the Oscars were a “Popularity Contest” Ryan Gosling would not have been nominated for Half Nelson. He isnt as Famous as the other nominees to many people. and that film was not seen by ALOT of people. He’s a good actor and its a great film
So i must disagree with you. [#5]
I watched little miss sunshine and though I thought it was good I’m surprised by how many critics think it is great; heck, why not dreamgirls? Go figure.
Brad will have divided loyalties on Oscar night as Babel is up against The Departed in many categories, including Best Picture. As executive producer of The Departed, he stands to benefit more finally from a win by The Departed but his reputation as an actor would be elevated if Babel wins. I’m pulling for both films.
Go Breslin! Go Miss sunshine! Go Ryan! Winslet, Penelope for “Volver”, Del Toro for incredible “Labyrinth”! Just amazing results! And **** Dreamgirls!
Why is Meryl Streep there? Her role in The Devil Wears Prada wasn’t all of that. Besides, she wasn’t the star of the movie, Anne Hathaway was.
…dumb.
I’ve never seen such a diverse group of movies and actors in the running in all my life and I love it. Its quite exciting and beautiful.
Very cool
My personal 1st choices and 2nd
Best Picture BABEL (THE QUEEN)
Best Actor FOREST WHITAKER (LEONARDO DICAPRIO)
Best Actress PENELOPE CRUZ (JUDI DENCH)
Best Supporting Actor EDDIE MURPHY (DIJMON HOUNSOU)
Best Supporting Actress ADRIANA BARRAZA (JENNIFER HUDSON)
Thanks Jared & Audrey

Brad not being nominated has nothing to do with Jennifer. Brad gave a stellar performance but he had about half an hour screen time in an ensemble cast where there were many strong performances. Brad is the Hollywood heavyweight and Jennifer was the one being pulled along by his coattails. Hollywood will not snub Brad over Jennifer…only some people in the public are doing that. Hollywood leading men have forever moved on from wife to wife…lover to lover…and the more the merrier, the bigger their reputation.
As for Dreamgirls being snubbed because the movie is overwhemingly black . I don’t think so. Eight nomination, come on. The truth is Oscar likes quirky plots and the Dreamgirls plot has been told over and over and lived over and over. It really was a lightweight film in terms of subject matter, but well acted and well-performed. Isn’t Dreamgirls the plot of many boy band and girl group that made it and didn’t make it?

Why wasn’t Annette Bening nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Running with Scissors like she was for the Golden Globes?
And Leo was nominated for Blood Diamond rather than The Departed? Well, more of a chance for Forest!
My Opinion, The winners would be-
BEST PICTURE: The Departed.
BEST ACTOR: Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness or DiCaprio, Blood Diamond.
BEST ACTRESS: Helen Mirren, The Queen.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Djimon Hounsou, Blood Diamond.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Abigail Breslin, Little Miss Sunshine.
Wow, JJ another thread. Go BABEL
Although I love Jennifer Hudson, I would looooooove it if Adriana Barraza pulled an upset. I really was impressed with her work.
I agree with #16! I hope all those nominations win as well!
Dreamgirls looked mediocre at best; it should be happy it even won the Golden Globe over Little Miss Sunshine & Borat
I hope Babel wins.
And I hope Brad goes to the Oscars with Angie, to support Babel and the cast of the movie.
Okay so here we go:
Babel should definitely win. I think it is one of the greatest films of all time. very heartfelt. i don’t understand why brad did not get nominated for best actor. If you havent seen babel, See it!. If you can’t afford it or if its no longer available, go to peekvid.com and click movies.
leo, will, or forest should takebest actor. all great actors in great films.
kate should win best actress because she got naked alot in that movie and should get something for it! lol i’m sry…but she did a great job too.
How the hell does mark wahlberg get nominated and matt damon does not. mark was barely in the movie. i saw more of matt, leo, jack. djimon should win because he was great
and Rinko should get supporting actress because she got naked in babel. all i’m saying is if i get naked i better win something.lol. but she was great in babel
Whoo congrats to Babel and the Departed for getting the nods. Babel has so many..another whoo!! I cant wait for the oscars.
#11 Original jpf,We have the same first and second choices, lol.I wish Brad and Annette Bening recieved nods, but hey they will have other chances.I am thrilled about Babel being up for best picture!I hope Brad and Angelina attend.
I’m so mad that Little Children was ignored from the top categories!
It should be given the award for best cinematography now.
I’m so mad that Children of Men was ignored from the top categories!
It should be given the award for best cinematography now.
I haven’t seen The Departed, so I can’t comment, but as for Leo being nominated for BA for Blood Diamond, he has little chance to win. He was great in the movie though, but not best actor for the year.
I am rooting for Pene Cruz and Rinko, and Babel, of course.
Babe for best picture!!!
Go Djimon Hounsou! I dont care about the rest.
Babel for best picture!!!
It’s time for DIJMON HOUNSOU (sp?) to get an oscar, EDDIE MURPHY (who really surprised me in Dreamgirls) doesn’t stand a chance here.
I really want JENNIFER HUDSON to win (for some personal reason) but that little gal in “Babel” was great too. We’ll see.
