Gwen Stefani Goes For The Gold

Gwen Stefani Goes For The Gold

Akon produced and is featured on Gwen‘s latest single, “Sweet Escape.” He recently talked about working with the Hollaback Girl: “I said, Hell yeah! Once me and Gwen met, it was like we’ve known each other for years, like that [collaboration] was supposed to happen. It was crazy. Once I got the call, I started doing background, checking up on No Doubt [all the way] to her solo project. I’m going through all those records and trying to figure out what’s missing from what she’s doing today. The sound she had back then [during No Doubt] that made her so big, it wasn’t incorporated into this album. So we sat down and Gwen had a whole bunch of ideas. She had a clothing line, she’s got all kinds of stuff going on. She wanted to incorporate all that into the record. We were trying to figure out words we could use to incorporate all that into the record and coincide with what she was doing as far as imaging and marketing her brands. ‘Sweet Escape’ was a perfect title for her. Once she heard the beat, we sat down and came up with collaborative ideas and started writing.”

    Gwennnnnnnnn!

i am really starting to hate a bitch. she just exemplifies the excess of show business in the worst way. there is no way this kid is not going to turn out to be an asshole.

  • mariootsa

one more thing…it is one thing to play up tawdry excess as part of your act, but she LIVES it. i have never seen someone buy into their own hype so much. does she ever do anything for other people, give back? i just see her taking.

It might be time for Jared to STOP posting Threads of Gwen pushing a stroller. Their are one/two of these threads damn near everyday.

  • Amy

Kingston looks as cute as hell. Gwen looks fine, but yeah, she has been way overhyped and overexposed as of late. Her last two albums have been practically back-to-back (I’m aware that much of “The Sweet Escape” was compiled of tossed tracks from “L.A.M.B.”) which definitely reflects on the quality of the material. I think that after this, she should definitely take some time off to raise her son and rethink her musical direction. I’ve always been a supporter of Gwen, and I’ve bought every album of hers since No Doubt’s self-titled album, but “Wind It Up” was absolutely horrendous.

Thanks for the great pics Jared – love this family! They’re just so nice and normal in their attitude and seem to enjoy everyday life.

Mariootsa – I have to correct you – Gwen participates in charity events/concerts on a consistent basis and if you order her CD from her website 10% of the proceeds will go to Amnesty International. And we have no idea what her cheque book looks like, do we? She may not do as much as some other celebrities, but she does her part in her own way and has never pretended to be some great philanthropist. If you watch any of her interviews I think it’s pretty obvious though that she’s very grateful for the life she has been given (and worked hard for). She may be living it up in style, but I really don’t get the impression that she takes it for granted.

  • lylian

Oh my god, did you guys hear that she called her son a blob. Oh my gosh, what a bad bad mother. she gonna have problems with her child. LOL.

Hypocrites are such easy targets they really aren’t much fun.

  • http://yahoo.co.id zsazsa

    what a happy family………….

  • Amy

    lylian Says:
Yeah, I heard about that too. While I don’t like Angelina all that much (not because I think she’s done anything bad, I just don’t get all the hype about her), calling her a bad mother because she called her daughter a “blob” is just silly. I took it as kind of affection. Undoubtedly, AJ and Gwen are both very capable mothers.

  • mariootsa

oh, so you spend your hard earned money on her crappy cd. and 1% goes to charity. give me a break. in the meantime, she owns about 10 different $10 000 strollers (because everybody knows babies are the ultimate accessory), and strolls around like the queen of sheba (you should hear howard stern’s account of running into her and her entourage backstage at letterman). she would try to put a damb LAMB logo on one of her shits and sell it to you, for chrissakes. i just think she, overall, is much too much, and her act is wearing thin.

  • coalharbourqt

No Mariootsa – it’s TEN percent, not ONE percent. Also, the stroller is ony worth $850 US – I really don’t care if you like her or not, but why don’t you do some homework before forming such biased, negative opinions about people? You seem really ignorant, in the truest sense of the word.

  • coalharbourqt

    oops – that’s “only” worth

  • Tins
  • mariootsa

ok…10 $850 strollers, then, point taken. look, she is a narcissist…in the truest of the word. she lives her life in ridiculous excess and exploits a whole race as props for her act. it’s vulgar. but hey, if you love her, go nuts.

  • black

    Oh sod them all!

  • coalharbourqt

So having 4 Harajuku Girls as an artistic expression of her creativity is exploiting a whole race? Are they being paid slave wages for a job that they willingly agreed to? The way you talk you’d think she had the whole Japanese race enslaved making LAMB clothing in a sweatshop or something.

Personally, I’m much more offended and concerned about the exploitation of WOMEN in music today – by MEN! Seriously, can you even turn on the tv these days without seeing some stupid rap video with women shaking their asses (and more) at the camera and dancing like strippers. Somewhere along the way rappers decided to glamorize the stripper lifestyle and everyone seems to have bought it, hook line and sinker.

And yet you choose to villify a strong, independent woman who calls her own shots and presents a much classier, successful image of what a woman can be. Until women stop cutting down the “tall poppies” that have exceeded everyone’s expectations of what a woman can accomplish (whether as a singer, actress, lawyer, doctor, etc.) we will never gain gender equality. We’re our own worst enemies.

hey, mariootsa you dont even know gwen stefani so stop critisising her. How would you like it if someone who hardly new you started say bad things about you. I bet you wouldn’t like it at all.
