Maria Sharapova Strikes a ‘Vogue’

Here’s your sneak peek! Tennis star Maria Sharapova returns to pages of Vogue in an upcoming sports-related issue, shot by celebrity photographer Norman Jean Roy (hugging Maria here). Many more pictures after the jump!

Just this past Saturday, top-ranked Sharapova retired because of a hamstring injury during the second set of her Pan Pacific Open semifinal against Ana Ivanovic.

I don’t understand why they put her in the smae dress that Sienna Miller wore like a month ago?
Stylist are seriously slacking. They are paid to do their job with no mistakes their clients are in the public eye they should know better.
Anyone remember Kirsten Dunst and Reese Whiterspoon wore the same dress?
Hillary Swank and Jessica Biel?

I agree that it was probably not the best choice to have her wear the same dress that Sienna wore. It could make for unkind comparisons. Sienna has the perfect model’s figure with smashing legs. I really like her in the dark skirt and white blouse though.

Her ultra flat sandals kind of annoy me for some reason. Perhaps it is because I am tall (5′8″) but still wear heels. Is she quite tall? She seems to very tall in these pictures? Anyway, sorry to hear about her hamstring injury.

Well, if she gets tired of retirment it looks like she could have a career as a model. Maria is beautiful and talented.

Shauna - I think she’s actually about 6′ tall if my memory serves. I was quite shocked when I read that as I didn’t realize that she was actually THAT tall! Also, considering the shoot probably went all day, she may have requested flats instead of heels. Maybe she just didn’t want to stand around in heels all day - as a tennis star she may have felt that it’s stupid to suffer for glamour and made it clear that she would do the shoot in flats? Just a thought.

actually Maria is 6′2… and she still wears heels… try looking for her red carpet pics… she wears heels in almost everyone one of them…

I love flats as the ones Maria is wearing. I’m 6′2” and do not wear heels and quite envy the tall women that do ’cause I feel self concious anyway about my height.
