Chris Richardson Wants To Cry

Chris Richardson Wants To Cry

For the second week in a row, the most enjoyable American Idol performance of the night from the Top 8 guys was Chris Richardson‘s rendition of Keith Urban‘s “Tonight I Wanna Cry.” Admittedly, it wasn’t even that good.

In the intro segment, Chris, 22, revealed that he used to be chunky but lost forty pounds. As for his performance, here’s what the judges had to say:

  • Randy Jackson: “You know what I love about you? Every week you come out here and you put the boys on blast. You sang a Keith Urban song. You put your own twist on it with the runs. Dude I like this, you’re switching it up. This kid is in it to win it!
  • Paula Abdul: “You picked a great song too. There’s that intonation in your voice that lends itself to a pop-country [genre]. You just adapted well. You picked a great song.
  • Simon Cowell: “It was good. I’m not jumping out my chair. It’s not the best vocal we’ve heard. It was cutesy. Your voice was a bit nasally to be honest with you. I still don’t think we’ve heard what you’re capable of doing yet. I just thought it was a little bit timid and safe. But you sold it. Anyone else, that might be a problem.”

If I had to give the boot to two, it would definitely be Phil and Sanjaya (lay off the straightening iron, please).

blake is EASILY my favorite guy. chris was good enough, his voice is just not strong, and i really dont’ see it holding up as the competition goes forward.

i LOVE that blake is unique and different every week. we’ve seen 3 different styles from the kid, and i love it. he definitely is the one who stands out most to me.

um sanjaya, SERIOUSLY?? who told him showing us the hula was a good idea? put us all out of our misery. if sanjaya and sundance go home, i’m ok.

  • [Fug Face Maniston]

If Sanjaya doesn’t go home this week I’m going to kill myself, wait- not myself, maybe someone else. [lol]
Heavy handed words truly cant express how bad he is, and that Hula information ‘are you serious?!?’ This tool needs to go home a-sap.

Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis are the two with the best chances of winning this competition. [Easily]

I agree sometimes Simon can be wicked mean. But actually, I’ve always appreciated Simon. If I were an aspiring artist, I’d appreciate what Simon said to this guy, honesty, a lot more than what Paula or Randy said. Simon seems to be more in touch with what the show was supposed to be about when it first started. It wasn’t a popularity contest per se, it was about talent and who had it and could sustain it to be a successful recording artist. Kelly Clarkson lived up to that intention. Carrie Underwood is doing fine. But Ruben and Taylor Hicks will just fade over time. Clay will be the next Barry Manilow, but without the writing ability (!). Chris Daughtry will be around for a while. He’s a hit. Fantasia needs some work. She is a tremendous raw talent, but she needs to be managed. There are some I wish would have made it. LaToya London and Kimberly Locke. I hope Elliott Yamin does well. He is a very talented singer, more jazz and R&B. Will be interesting to see what happens to Jennifer Hudson. If she gets offered any decent movie roles, she better accept them while she can. The supporting actress category is a jinx for an unknown. Ask Marissa Tomei!

Chris Richardson will make it pretty far in the competition. He’s my favorite male contestant along with Chris Sligh. While I think Blake is unique and talented, I also think he is very gimmicky and his whole beat-boxing thing will get old very quickly. All I know is that Sanjaya and Sundance need to go this week because their time has been up 3 weeks ago…they keep going back to how they were great in their initial auditions but have sucked since then.

blake, chris r and chris s and mayby baldie, are the best male performers. These two,Sanjaya, Antenella(SP)OMG they suck! They need to go ASAP! I mute the tv when they sing. I feel embarassed for them. The two black guys are o.k. but not very memorable. Sundance’s audition was awsome , but what happened? Bless his heart, he is just not that good anymore. Doolttle and Lakisha are my favorite female singers.
p.s. i was dissapointed in chris r this week. It was my least favorite performance from him.

    Last night Blake outshined everyone.

  • Justina

More Blake Lewis pictures, please! He’s easily the best male contestant. Chris Sligh and Chris Richardson round out the best guys, though.

  • Faith

Mmm. I dont know. He has a pleasant voice but it seems a bit generic to me. And definitely reminds me a bit of the boy band era.

  • blah

there’s already one jt, then again if someone can make money off of him then he’s definitely winning.
