Madonna Tours Malawai

Madonna and 10-year-old daughter Lourdes tours a U.N. Millennium village on Monday in Mtanga, Malawi.

Shortly after touching down in the country, the mother-daughter duo toured U.N.-backed development projects in the small village of Mtanga while son David Banda waited in the car with a nanny. They were welcomed by singing women and children.

Madge is overseeing the building of a children’s health care center with the Earth Institute’s Glenn Denning, who accompanied her on the tour.

Lourdes is such a big girl now, and she looks welll behaved and composed for an 11 or 12 year old girl

  • http://htt//justjared.com b

I ‘m not a fan of her, but I don’t hate her either. I can’t stand people who criticize her ,for what she’s doing.

    madonna buys malawi

STUPID GRANDMA SHOULD JUST LET THE KIDS IN THEIR VILLAGE.WHY DID SHE WEAR military brass?

it’s look like a white old lady who is doing her shopping oh no i forgot madonna doesn’t do that she’s the queen somebody can buy it to her .She better than the rest of us.
She is apparently going green and is environmentally friendly . LIAR.celebrities themselves ruin the planet with all of their necessities for instance private jets.

Now I am proud that I had bought my many copies of Like A Virgin and Papa Don’t Preach!

Now I know where the money has gone.

I think Madonna is doping great work just like Brad, Angie, Leo DiCaprio and Bono.

I also think it is amazing that Madonna has taken her 10 year old to Africa to witness all this first hand.

Lourdes is gaining a world wisdom far beyond her 10 years. There are American adults who are 40 and above who probably won’t have the perspective she is gaining from visiting African orphanages.

I think this is the greatest part of all of this: Lourdes is a hope for the future. She may grow up to be a young rich American girl who has an interest in the less fortunate around the world. I wish more people could experience what she is experiencing.

My parents took me to the Third World when I was a child and I understood then how lucky I was and how I needed to always share what I had for no matter how bad things got for me – it was never as bad as the kids I had met on our travels.

    Kudos Madonna!

    JJ- thanx for the pix.

fuckher – you’re sad, I feel sorry for you.

  • Mmmmm

I think she rocks! A great example of change and growth once you become a real women. I am sure her daughter admires her mother very much!

  • Franny

I don’t feel like I can criticize her motives cause I don’t know them, but what’s with the fashion hat? I have never seen Jolie trying to look trendy on any of her visits with the UN.

Anyway I’m happy to see her efforts.

im not living in a fairy tale world like you.she’s an hypocrit as a lot of celebrities and as you.my arguments are true while yours are just what im feeling about her no evidence

It’s so awesome to see Madonna getting her daughter involved in her humanitarian efforts – what a great idea! And I’m glad she has brought David back to Malawi for a visit with his relatives. Do we have a couple of future UNHCR reps in the making? Nice to see a celebrity teaching their children to give back and setting a good example.

  • J3$$!C@

    Lourdes is so pretty.

  • jan

PR trip…dressed like she is going to a Hollywood nightclub…with the dumb hat..can you imagine people in the bush staring at that!!!!! If she had not wanted a great “look” she would have braided her hair and worn a baseball cap.
She is probably looking for a sister book-end for David.
I am annoyed at the whole scene.
I do applaud her taking her daughter and exposing her early to the problems of the earth.

  • wow

jan, i don’t know what nightclubs you go to, but do they, by any chance, have tractors in them? that is *not* nightclub attire.

  • coalharbourqt

PR trip Jan? Did you not read that Madonna is building a children’s health care facility there? That’s called putting your money where your mouth is. Perhaps if you were less focused on Madonna’s headwear you might have noticed that? Who cares what hat she wears – it doesn’t matter. I’m sure the “people in the bush”, as you put it, are just grateful that someone is there taking an interest in their health.

  • tra la la

Lourdes always looks like she is so proud of her mother in every photo of them together. Madonna is doing her part. Just cuz you to a poor country, you don’t have to look like a bag lady. Why compare her to Jolie?

People need to stop critizing other people for doing good works. That’s just stupid. Take care of your own backyard.

  • Dumdums

She wants them healthy and well fed to make her cheap line of clothing and doing odd jobs around her mansions, with a lucky few allowed to live inside. Sounds familiar and I think greatly resented in the civil war.

  • http://celebritysource.blogspot.com/ Courtney

Love madonna and what she does.

  • Mondo Bongo!

I don’t care what she’s wearing what she sings or how, the
point is she is doing…doing something to aid a nation of people
    in need ~lol

And what are haters doing? sitting on their hind legs and using
the only word in their vocabulary [HYPOCRITE]

    #18! Bravo! Bravissima!

Lourdes looks like Madonna’s mini me w/ a tan. What a stunning child.

How lucky Lourdes is to be so worldy and exposed (at 10)!

What a twisted view of her intentions you have. Quite sad that you can’t see the good in other people. It starts with seeing the good in yourself.

  • juana

    Lourdes is gorgeous…

  • http://theworldaroundusblog.blogspot.com/ Mica

Hey, that’s neat that Lourdes gets to check out Malawi as well.

  • Justin

Hey, the woman is doing something good for children that need an incredible amount of help.
There is nothing at all to critisize here… Madonna is a intellegent and interesting person, whether she’s on stage entertaining or helping people around the Globe. – At least she IS DOING. Not just sitting on her ass. Any one that cant see that needs to get their brain examined.

  • madmax

Her goodwill seems genuine. A bit less attention grabbing than other ‘celeb-ventures’, but no less admirable.

  • madonnarocks!

who cares what jolie wears, she has never been known for her fashion sense anyways. If Madonna wants to wear a mink coat it still wouldn’t matter what jolie wears. BTW Her daughter is the spitting image of her.

  • ontario_lady

Isn’t it sad that the majority of the negative and critical comments posted on this site refer to Madonna’s fashions? I think the fact that she’s out in Africa, helping fund clinics and orphanages is perhaps a little more important than what hat she’s wearing….what a sad statement on western/American culture. Whether I like her music or not, I respect her for putting her money where her mouth is, and actually trying to make a difference…which is more than most of us can say, sitting at home on our computers, READING about it. It’s pretty easy to criticize someone’s altruistic efforts from behind a computer screen, isn’t it?

  • ciccone youth

Hmmm, which kid should I take today? I think the girl looks better with my outfit.

  • C

If she cares so much about Africa and especially Malawi she should give all her money to this country that is to say $325 million. Or at least keep 10 millions for herself and her family and give the remainder to this country.

Anyway everything is free for her she doesn’t need money. She doesn’t care about Malawi for her 5 millions is nothing considering the fact that it is a huge publicity for her so more fans and more $$$$$$$$$$$.
This woman should have worked for advertissement she definitely know how to sell herself or the others.

  • LORA

Why does everyone call her youngest son David BANDA? Isn’t that the name of his bio dad? Why call him that? Until the adoption goes through I think the press should just refer to him by David. Sounds strange not to.

  • Whatchano

Beautiful daughter but what is going on with Maddona. That age is shining through she is not aging gracfully. If she was the average woman with no money she would look even worse. Now I see why the plastic surgery field is booming. She needs to put more money in it cause she looks bad.

  • http://www.ysflight.co.uk SKipper

Okay that pisses me off. I’ve just got back from doing a months aid work in Africa. Just imagining these people in the places i was working in just seems totally wrong.Urgh!
