Rosie O'Donnell Leaves 'The View' in June

Rosie O’Donnell could not come to a contractual agreement with ABC daytime, so her run as co-host on The View will come to end mid-June.

Barbara Walters said in a statement, “I induced Rosie to come back to television on The View even for just one year. She has given the program new vigor, new excitement and wonderful hours of television. I can only be grateful to her for this year. I am very sad that ABC Daytime could not reach an agreement with her for a second year. We will all miss Rosie on The View, and hope she will be back with us often next season. She remains for me a cherished friend and colleague.”

Rosie added, “This has been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn’t have traded for the world. Working with Barbara, Joy and Elisabeth has been one of the highlights of my career, but my needs for the future just didn’t dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me. To all the viewers out there, I just want to say ‘thank you’ for opening up your hearts and your homes to me this past year. But you can always find me at rosie.com. Here’s hoping there’s more confetti for all of us going forward.”

I hate to see her go b/c she’s the only reason why I watch the show every once in a while. I bet money that the views ratings will drop faster than Matt Leinart’s draft stock last year. The show doesn’t have a star to bank on now.

I am gonna miss her so much. She really pulled the show on its highest ratings ever. Love hearing her povs ‘coz she makes you think, angry, happy and sad. I don’t have any idea who can replace her in the show.

I’m glad. I can finally watch the show again. I don’t care for her rude loud mouth.

I feel sad, actually cried. Not so much because she is leaving (but that too) but because I think she’s been bullied out, made to feel like a bad person. She looks sad – and all because she’s a very compassionate and caring lady. Hope she can ‘re-group’ in her heart and carry on with all the good she does. I’ll miss her. PEACE OUT ROSIE

Thank GOD! She was so horrible to Elisabeth. The only conservative girl on the show, 1/5, and Rosie NEVER let her talk. She interrupted her all the time, yelled at her for interrupting when she wasn’t, started screaming about her needing listen when Rosie wouldn’t listen to her. Just because it wasn’t a liberal viewpoint. When Barbara’s on poor Liz gets to a say a little more, but that’s not very often. Rosie took over the show and tried to make it her ranting and raving pad. She needs to realize that the view wasn’t called “Rosie’s View.” It’s supposed to be a show where women give varrying opinions. Good riddance.

You are right but the ratings show that people only watch to hear and see Rosie’s opinion/view and I’ll bet money that Rosie will return to daytime with her own show that will kick the View’s butt. Rosie is a powerful woman in daytime TV.

She needed to go. She never let the other women talk and she always had to be right. The View is not a show for someone like Rosie. She doesn’t know when to shut it. She should get a show by herself where she can do all the talking and stay away from politics. She doesn’t know how to control what comes out of her mouth and that is why she has sympathy for other hot heads like Alec Baldwin. The only thing she did well on the show was keep Elizabeth quiet. That i did enjoy up until about 3 weeks ago when i actually started to enjoy Elizabeth’s views on Don Imus and Alec Baldwin.

I’m so SAD that she’s leaving that show. The View wasn’t watchable before, and it won’t be after she’s gone. She made all the guests feel so welcome on there, and I will miss her terribly. Her views made people think and talk, which is what is needed in this country now. There is nothing wrong with a woman with a strong viewpoint, and everything wrong with people who try to silence women. I’ll never bother watching that show after she’s gone, and I hope she gets her OWN show soon!

Much as I hate to interrupt the “Overweight Liberal Lezbo Lovefest” that’s happening here, but good riddance to FAT rubbish.

get over yourself babs, she’s such a phony. i think rosie really messed the whole dynamic of the view. it sucked before, but she is too overwhelming. she took over the show. plus even tho i don’t agree with elisabeth, rosie never let her talk and made her look stupid because of her opinions.

I’m very sorry to see Rosie go. Now I won’t have a reason to watch The View. I only DVR’d it this season so I could see Hot Topics (and the rest of the show if the guests were of interest to me). I don’t agree with Rosie’s political views, but I find her tremendously entertaining. And someone needs to shut up the blonde airhead once in awhile! I’m sure Rosie will show up again with another TV show. At least I hope so.
