Kate Moss: Supermodel Style @ Barneys

Kate Moss launches her Topshop fashion line at Barneys New York, dressed in a chiffon tunic by TopShop, on Tuesday night accompanied by TopShop head honcho Sir Philip Green.

The UK launch of her TopShop line earlier this month has been wildly successful. The collection goes on sale at Barneys today — let’s see if Americans gobble it up as much as the Brits!

Fellow Brit Lily Allen recently took a jab at Kate‘s new clothing line, saying it’s only for “perfect people.” The outspoken British singer fumed to English magazine Grazia: “Kate’s clothes are just for skinny, perfect girls. I won’t be buying any. I couldn’t get into those tiny hotpants if I tried, and if I did I’d look ridiculous. The hard thing is to get everybody of every size to look fantastic. That’s the real deal. Fashion should be a laugh and be for everybody. My dresses will suit anyone, whether they’re tall or small, or fat or thin. The best thing about dresses is the fact they hide a lot of things you don’t want exposed and flatter the good bits. My bum and legs are revolting, which is why I wear dresses all the time. And I put in wider straps to hide the arm bits we all hate. I was really excited about doing my collection because I know what it’s like to feel uncomfortable in clothes. I don’t just chuck my wardrobe at someone. I got really involved with everything. I love my stuff – I’ve been wearing it loads.”

maybe lily allen is right but i lve kate’s style…and i am first:D

  • Our world is coming to an end…

She embodies fashion somehow…I am sure We’ll remember her 1O years from now…

I think Lili Allen is right and Kate looks high

S, I’m with you. After the initial buzz this too shall pass. Also, the reviews for the line have been gosh awful, not great like this article implies. Apparently, people stood in lines for hours bought a t-shirt or whatever, but the celebs who saw the line were NOT impressed, nor were the fashion pages of the local papers.

I love Lily Allen’s style. It’s refresing and new. Kate Moss’s style seems to always be the same. Dark colors and straight legged jeans and long shirts, things like that.

I think her dresses are cute, the other stuff is too generic, but that was probably easy for topshop to make quickly in their sweatshops.

I live in London and have seen some of the designs from the Kate Moss Topshop collection and generally I’m not overly impressed with it. Topshop typically doesn’t use good quality fabrics and the garments are overpriced because Kate’s name is associated with them. Also, had she not had a team of Topshop designers helping her throughout the entire design process she would never have been able to create the collection alone. I study fashion design and know how much research and technical skills are involved in designing and constructing 1 garment, let alone a whole collection, so I find it a bit off when I see or hear of celebs supposedly designing and putting their name to fashion collections especially considering its such a competitive industry to succeed in and that many extremely talented people who study fashion will probably never be able earn a living at it because they don’t have a name that’s known or know the right people in order to make their break into the industry.

woo hoo i can’t wait to check it out!

  • ha…

everything about this woman disgusts me. she has one ‘deer caught in the head lights blue steel’ look. her only 2 causes in life are herself and getting high. booooo!

  • hmm…

I still like Kate Moss as a model and I adore her fashion style. She certainly has the BEST eye for fashion, in my personal opinion. But I don’t know about her collection. A few pieces are quite pretty, but I have to admit that her stuff isn’t that impressive.

I’m a bit skinny myself, but I don’t know if I can wear Kate’s designs. The clothes look good on models, though. Kate Moss’ designs seem like they’re strictly designed for herself- tall and super skinny.

But I feel it’s true that Kate Moss has one of the most memorable faces in the 21st century. I love her look.
