Here are the very first shots of Jessica Simpson back in New York City since her break-up with musician John Mayer.
Simpson, 26, and Mayer, 29, reportedly met up this morning as he was spotted leaving her hotel (The Soho Grand) at 12PM today.
A pal of Jessica‘s confirms to In Touch, “They definitely went on a date last night. She still loves him, but he’s not stable. He’s scared of commitment. He breaks up with her and then regrets it and then begs her to get back together.”
The pair last stepped out together on the red carpet earlier this month in NYC at the Costume Institute Gala.

I may be the only person who likes them together. When I heard they broke up, I immediately thought it was not really over for good. I hope I’m right since they oddly look good together.
Basically their Showmance isn’t garnering the attention they would like so they or their PR drummed up a little breakup/makeup scenerio right in time for Jess’s Cannes debut. Pitiful!
Boy – He sounds like a keeper. They break up and get back together alot. Sounds like a healthy relationship to me – NOT!!!! Any guy who is that afraid of commitment is better off alone. She must not be the one or he would not be so frightened of a commitment! RUN!
