Zac Efron @ Hairspray Premiere

Co-stars Zac Efron, Amanda Bynes (in TopShop), Nikki Blonsky, and Elijah Kelley walk the rainbow carpet at the UK premiere of Hairspray at the Odeon Cinema Leicester Square in London on Thursday.

I went to a screening of Hairspray last month and you will not want to miss this. This movie is FUN FUN FUN! Although the singing is not up to par with that of the musical, the acting and the personalties shine through.

Unfortunately, John Travolta is not half as funny as Harvey Fierstein, who plays crossdresser Edna Turnblad in the musical. What makes Edna endearing and hilarious in the musical is Fierstein‘s trademark foghorn voice. Travolta raises the pitch of his voice to sound like a real woman and it… just doesn’t cut it. Otherwise, this film will knock your stockings off.

Hairspray opens in the UK and US on Friday, July 20.
