Angelina Jolie is a Bouquet of Beauty

Angelina Jolie is a Bouquet of Beauty

Angelina Jolie makes a a picture perfect bunch with a bouquet of roses in the new St. John clothing ad, which will be featured in the August 2007 issue of Vanity Fair. Could a Stepford wife look any sexier??

And no, Angie hasn’t been laying low. Just yesterday, she was spotted leaving Prague, Czech Republic where she’s been shooting her action thriller Wanted.

The mother-of-four boarded the private jet carrying baby Shiloh, 13 months. Brad, in a new newsboy cap, carried Zahara, 2. The family’s chief bodyguard, Mickey Brett, carried 3-year-old Pax on board. And Maddox, 5, dressed in a gray t-shirt and khaki pants, boarded the plane all by his grown-up self!

What’s next for the Jolie-Pitts? Angie has said, “I’m in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months.” Let’s hope they go out for some family-bonding time during their time off!

Check out more pictures here. One of the boxes transported onto the Jolie-Pitt‘s private jet reads “Dad’s bags for bikes don’t open needs to go on the jet.”

They definitely called the Paparazzi’s to take the pictures where she is carrying her daughter. She is trying hard to save her image. So staged!!!!

AJ should live her life, get help if she thinks that she is mentally deranged. Denying it is not going to work.

As long as there is no foul language in them, you should publish them, but then again, I have seen some comments in your threads that are just sooooooo filthy.

Angie does have an impact as activist

That high-paid celebrities, many of them donors to the Democratic Party, were able to persuade the Republican Congress that they shouldn’t have to reach into their Prada bags for saying naughty lines on-air is no small feat. But it underscores the success a new breed of celebrity lobbyist has been having in Washington. A growing number of performers are being taken seriously on lobbying issues unrelated to their profession.

Here are the five most notable celebrity lobbyists in the past year, according to Capitol Hill staffers, lobbyists and nonprofit officials who spoke to Forbes:

Angelina Jolie’s crusade for the world’s less fortunate is moving Congress closer to committing 10% of total U.S. AIDS-relief funding for orphans under 18. Jolie, who D.C. insiders say was this past year’s “most effective activist” among movie stars, held private meetings with several powerful committee chairmen, including a testy one with staunch law-and-order conservative Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., about the legal rights of unaccompanied alien minors.

Such an amazingly beautiful family- inside & out- there is absolutely nothing uppity or snobbish about them- they truly come across as very humble individuals- with the good sense to realize that they are most fortunate and therefore feel a need to give back and do what they can to help those that are less fortunate… such a breath of fresh air and so rare when most of hollywood/stars are so selfish, arrogant and only care about their own self-image and the amount of $$$ they can acquire… if only others would follow their lead…

Analysis why Jen still doesnt have a man

This is so tiresome. Women get divorced every day of the week. Some are left with children whom they must struggle tofeed and clothe. Many were physically abused by their husbands. Often, the children witness the abuse and are forever scarred. NONE of that took place here.

It is simply not the end of the world when a partner leaves you. There are thousands of men who would love to be with Jennifer Aniston. But she can’t become part of a “real”
relationship for a variety of reasons:

    1) She (Jen) CHOOSES to wallow in self pity rather than to start acting like a normal, strong, independent woman;

    2) She CHOOSES to be so focussed on public opinion that she is willing to fabricate a relationship rather than waiting for a real one to come along;

    3) She CHOOSES to blame Angelina SOLELY rather than do some self-examination to see what she needs to change to become a stronger person for her next realtionship.

The press and public are doing absolutely nothing to Jennifer Aniston. She is, however, doing a wonderful job of creating a “World of Pity” from which she refuses to emerge.

    newsfour Says:

to all the haters, please read this,

Why else would you think two people who have planned their lives together and speak in the language of a ‘long term relationship’ who have planned and had a child together, who have experienced death together, who work together in each other’s projects, and who have been joined at the hip for the last two years and recently adopted a child, are on the verge and just ‘holding it together.’ I just think you’re jealous, and that you read too many trashloids I would say.

Your words would have been better suited for Brad and the ex, who’s 4 and a half year childless union, was actually more like a two year marriage considering they spent 6-8 months apart on average every year. Also the language they used for each other – that he wasn’t the love of her life (so she said), that they never considered their union had to be ‘forever,’ that it ‘could die one day.’ The fact that when they were apart, one was never too anxious to see the other, and the ex actually complained about having to get on a plane and do it.

It’s just odd to me, yet typically catty female, that women continue to see the example of Angelina’s very beautiful close-knit family…a family that works together, loves together, plays together and gives together…..in stark contrast to a distant couple that shared no goals, had nothing in common and from all accounts, most especially their own, was a rough and bumpy relationship despite the ‘golden couple’ fiction, and yet some women are just sooooo eager to see Angelina and Brad go bust…while they NEVER said ‘boo’ about Brad & Jen.

It’s quite sad and pathetic, and says a lot that some women will always root against the beautiful girl with a big heart….while the mediocre untalented stingy millionaire ‘Rachel Green’s’ crumbling relationship was given a pass every time – it seems people turn a blind eye to the reality of what she and Brad actually said about themselves when together.

Meanwhile, Brad and Angelina have voiced nothing but support and love for each other – and have stated their satisfaction over and over again with their lives, and their desire for more children. Their foundation together which has changed and saved lives and is a further testament to their committment and togetherness, is also ignored….

Delusion, they name is all women who don’t like Angelina, because they know the better woman got the good man. They fear they are not it, and never will be anything like that – Jennifer on the other hand, is an achievable goal, her average bordering on unattractive face, her lack of talent, and her self-absorption…many women see themselves in her….AJ is a threat because the bar is too high.

So we get snarky comments like these…they aren’t based necessarily in hate, just pure envy.

But that can quickly develop into hate as we’ve seen with some, the longer Brad and Angie remain happy, as their family grows, and their love remains so obvious, beautiful and strong.

    sad Says:

Cliniqua…I agree 100% with what you said.

That is why I can’t stand Aniston, she is the main cause for the hate thrown Brad and Angelinas way, it is her behavior during and after the divorce that cause all the hate and team ****.

Look at Kate Hudson and Owen, we don’t know the whole story, and none of the parties involved gave interviews bashing anyone. Look at Reese, we don’t know the whole story, and she and ryan, has not said one word of nastiness toward each other. These parties kept their stuff in private and did not involve the media, did not invite the public in. Now they are all able to move on with their lives without hate being thrown around in public. Olvier an Kylie, all the blame was being thrown at him, Kylie actually defended him and asked her fans to stop. These parties all had enough respect to not comment on tabloid stories.

Jennifer and her friends decided to invite the public in , spew hate, invite her fans to hate, and bask in pity. It is why I can’t stand Aniston, she could end all this **** now, all she had to do was wish brad well and move on . Instead she can’t even do that.

    Why?

    1. Because being attached to Brad is her meal ticket, keeping the triangle going ( how jen is doing/ feels) keeps her in the public eye.

    2. She (Jen) will never admit it, but she likes the attention, adulation , and sympathy thrown her way, she doesn’t want the public to feel she is less than perfect, that she screwed up.

    3. She is jealous, yup, the ***** is jealous of Angelina Jolie, if Brad had moved on with Kathy Najimy type, she would have reacted differently. The ***** is jealous that it is Angelina Jolie that Brad moved on with. Look at her behavior this year alone, she starts off by buying oops I mean appearing on the peoples choice award( you really like me..lmao) Thanking her fans for sticking by her(like it is any of her fans biz about her personal life) inviting the public in. Then right before Brad and Angies Globe appearance she releases a statement to say they broke up(Was she trying to rack up more sympathy or was she dreading Brad appearing with Jolie) We all saw how beautiful Angie looked ( not even a week later aniston gets a nose job..I wonder why ..jealousy perhaps. This chick is not over Brad and refuses to let go, if she was, then she would simply wish Brad and Angie the best.

    ITA….
The woman (don’t wanna write her name.. afraid she give me cooties) is definately jealous of Angelina Jolie.
Angie is more talented, more caring, have more depth and mysteriousness that is both intriguing, captivating and desirable. While that woman is just a plain girl next door type of girl ( which she has already capitalised to the max)
There is nothing new or captivating or mysterious or interesting about that woman , she just is there okay..sometimes passably pretty often not very much to look at. Not much talent.. have you seen her movies.?? I have the misfortune to catch a few at HBO , half way I was totally bored and not interested , it was Rachel all over again, time and again at every single movie… She can only play one character !!! And she has milked it too death!! yukkk!!

Angelina donates 1/3 of her salary to various charity and is a caring mother and a humanitarian and dotes on Brad, giving him everything that he had ever wanted.
What had that woman ever given?? Just a nose job to herself!!!!

  • Karma: She was there with Tate Donovan

    APRIL 1998 –

You know you’ve been doing this celebrity shtick too long when you start running into the same stars on different publicity tours and they pretend to remember you.
“That’s right! I remember you!” Jennifer Aniston gushes to me as she sits her perky but approachable self down at a cram-packed interview table in the Beverly Hills Four Seasons. Her compliment comes in response to my casual comment that we last talked in New York, while she was plugging Picture Perfect and shooting The Object of My Affection, the pretty darn good film she is now promoting.

“Oh, come on,” I say gently, not believing her for an instant. She’s accompanied by her boyfriend, Tate Donovan, who silently sits about four feet behind her. He has bad skin and looks too thin.

“No I do!” Aniston insists. She’s wearing almost the same outfit as the last time I talked to her: a too tight tan skirt that nicely accentuates her callipygian asset, a sleeveless blouse (last time white, this time green), no stockings, sandals with heels, lots of makeup but perfectly applied.

“That’s nice of you to say,” I say, keeping a mildly irritated tone out of my voice. She looks great. She makes eye contact. I want to like her.

“But I DO! I DO remember you!” she insists more vociferously this time. Then she makes a big mistake. “I recognize a lot of familiar faces today, like you and you・ she says, pointing at faces around the interview table.

Other writers disagree: “Uh, no,” one says. “I didn’t talk to you in New York,” says another. “I’m a newbie,” says an awed college girl. Strike three.

“Oh,” says Jennifer Aniston, pursing her lips and looking a little chagrined. “But you!” she says, pointing to another writer. “You were in New York, right?”

Strike four. “No,” says the writer. Then, obviously feeling bad, he adds “Sorry.”

“Oh. Oh my,” says Jennifer Aniston. There is silence. The table is uncomfortable. This is quickly turning into a debacle, so I decide to turn it around and talk about good stuff.

“Hey, let’s get this going on a better foot,” I say. “Honestly, I think this is the best movie yet by anybody out of ‘Friends’…”

She looks very relieved. “Wow. That’s wonderful. Thank you.”

“・ut do you think there’s going to be that age-old resistance to TV stars trying to get into movies working against this picture, too?” I finish. In the world of delicately phrased inquiries, I have become a master at taking a question that starts out like an ass-kiss and turning it into a spank.

Aniston is totally prepared for the question. “I think that resistance is lessening. I really do. People are realizing that everybody is an actor and just trying to do what they do. I hope it is.” There is a pause in which no one says anything, and she goes on. “If it wasn’t for the show I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do movies, you know. I couldn’t get a reading to do a feature film. Before, I was petrified, too intimidated at the thought of auditioning for a movie. But ‘Friends’ has given all of us an unbelievable trump card.”

This is a fairly honest answer, trying to be optimistic while at the same time giving insight to a young woman who doesn’t sound nearly as confident in herself as she should be considering the circumstances. Somebody asks if it was an intentional touch to keep her hair so casual in the new film ・a very un-Rachel ‘do ・and Aniston says “Absolutely.”

“Do you think a backlash is inevitable no matter who you are, after fame hits?” I ask.

“That seems to be the course of events,” Aniston responds smoothly. “I remember I was talking to Steven Spielberg, actually, having this exact conversation. I met him once when ‘Friends’ first came on, then about two years later, when the backlash was really kicking in, and he asked me ‘How are you doing with all this?’ and I told him that it was heartbreaking. You don’t expect it. You’re not prepared for it. All you know is you went to do a job・nd・nd he said, ‘They do that to everybody. It’s all part of it.’ And that was the first time anybody had said that to me. It’s just boredom. They need to stir up the people who buy ‘People’ magazine. The people who want to put you on the cover and then rip you inside. It’s just the way it works. But you have to get used to it. It’s a weird business. It’ll break your heart if you let it.”

A couple starry-eyed writers ask goo-goo type questions that she answers politely before I ask “How about your first movie, Picture Perfect? Are you satisfied with the way that turned out?”

Again, she’s painfully frank. Cocking her head to the side and looking at me like we’re connecting, she says “I don’t know how I feel about how it turned out. It was hard. Of course, I’m told ‘Never say that!’ But there were things we hoped would be different than they actually were and I don’t know if it was ready to go when we got started. I don’t know if the script was ready. But there was a lot of・h・ages were coming down right before you’d shoot a scene just to try and have it make sense・ She stops talking. I don’t blame her.

“Was it good training?” somebody else queries.

“You know what?” she asks rhetorically, “I have to say that one had absolutely nothing to do with the other. That was a whole ‘nother lesson from that. The business end of the industry. [The Object of My Affection] was a lot more creatively satisfying. You just barely felt like you were making a movie. It was an unbelievable experience working with [she lists everybody in the cast, then goes off on how great the crew, the director, etc., etc., were, before actually saying] the whole experience, that it came out so great, was just like a cherry on top.

Though I liked her new movie a great deal — a romantic comedy about a single mom who convinces her gay male friend to move in and help raise the child — I did think it copped out at the end, so I ask “Then you’re satisfied with the end product? The movie has this beautiful melancholia, then sort of ends with this happy sitcomish finish・

“Well it depends on your interpretation,” Aniston says thoughtfully. “What do you think the film is about?”

“I think it’s about how most people want what they can’t have,” I suggest.

    “Uh-huh,” she agrees.

“But by the end of the film, most people have what they want.” I list a few examples. “It gets very commercial by the end.”

“Well, there was a different ending,” she says.

Three people at the table say simultaneously, “Really?!?”

Not noticing our surprise, Aniston continues, “But they have these things called test audiences・

We’re all surprised because somebody is lying. I leap into the breach. “That’s odd,” I say. “When we interviewed [director] Nicholas Hytner, he said there were no other filmed endings.

It’s immediately apparently that Aniston is the one lying. She stammers out, lamely, “Uh ・well, it was pretty much the same ending. It・t was just told ・uh ・a little differently. It’s not important actually. The characters ended up in a different area of the city, that’s all.”

Hmmm. Sensing her discomfort, a few folks ask softball questions that she answers gamely. The last question touches on the types of roles she is attracted to. So I follow up with “Have you noticed that both your major films roles have something big in common? Both characters want a man that she can’t have.”

“I like to see real life,” she answers nonchalantly.

“Is that real life?” I ask, figuring that here’s an opportunity for genuine insight into this actress.

We’re looking at each other. I’m trying to look interested, not challenging. She begins to stammer again. “It’s boring to just sort of・f・ don’t know why I love that・anting something and not being able to have it・ don’t know why I picked・hy I picked・”

I’ve talked to her before. I know her background and history. I keep pushing. “Do you think the estranged relationship you’ve had with your father might have something to do with it?”

She flinches. “I don’t know why I love these ・these roles.” Aniston touches her hand to her face. “Maybe it is something I’m trying to work out in my own life.”

The rest of the table has gotten very quiet. I’m leaning forward in my chair, toward her. It’s like it’s just us talking. I find this woman very interesting and very easy to talk to and I’m surprised at what a good actress she’s become but I’m not really sure if she has what it takes to be a movie star and I want to know what she thinks about that and there’s no time like the present so here goes. “Look,” I say, “Do you think your popularity on TV might be working against you on the big screen? I’ve really thought your performances in both movies were good, but on TV you just seem so approachable. Even in the movies, you play down to earth people. Do you think that people just want movie stars that are glamorous and untouchable? Could that be working against you?”

Disaster. Aniston arches her back in the chair and casts me a wounded look. “Uhhhh・ don’t know if anything’s working against me yet,” she says. Then she adds, her voice breaking, “Are you working against me?”

I backpedal furiously, glancing at Tate Donovan, who looks at me with nothing short of hatred. “No! I don’t want to make it sound like a negative thing! But everybody’s looking for the person who’s going to open a film with a $25 million weekend・

Aniston cuts me off. “But that shouldn’t be the main concern! If it was, I’d be doing Scream 3! It isn’t always so important to have a big hit! I want to have a career that lasts for a while!”

“I agree,” I agree. “But when we talked last year, you stated how the ultimate goal is to get from TV to film. You want to be an independent force, a star on your own. But in order for you to do that, you need to open a film. Now, I’m not trying to cast any aspersions of doubt on your talent. But your image is that you appear very accessible. Movie stars do not make it by appearing accessible.” Then, still trying to throw Aniston a curveball, I instead inadvertently make it a beanball right at her pretty head. “I mean, are you concerned that you don’t have what it takes to be a movie star?”

It is now obvious that she and I connected emotionally during the course of this interview, because I have genuinely hurt her feelings. We’ve still got eye contact, and I am beyond dismayed to see that hers are welling up with tears ・genuine tears for chrissakes! — and her lower lip is trembling. “Are you・re you saying I don’t have what it takes?” she asks, her voice breaking.

“No! Please, no!” I sputter, hating myself and turning ass-kisser mode into overdrive. “I’m just saying that even though you’re such a beautiful woman, one of the things that makes you so appealing is that you seem so approachable. I mean, you’re a ‘Friend,’ we invite you into our home every week. Movie stars are different. What I’m asking is if you fear you’ll have to sacrifice what I feel is your greatest asset in order to take a chance on becoming a movie star.” Everyone at the table is looking at me with thinly veiled contempt. I don’t blame them. “Look, I’ve offended you and I’m sorry. Let’s move on to somebody else,” I finish. Literally.

Claude you misguided blind as a bat fool… If you have ever been literate and could actually find yourself out of the paperbag to some of Angelina Jolie’s archives, you’d see pictures of her with those beautiful luscious lips since she was a baby.
Okay if you could not find your way there…please see Shiloh , her baby…. with those lips she inherited from her mama… Angelina Jolie!!

Still in the paper bag?? oo I gave up !! go ahead think whatever you want… yess JA won Miss World title that time…okay happy now?? go off back into your paperbag and go to sleep!

  • Mary jane

how can you say Angelina is not beautiful Claude?with all respect but you can’t compare both women!!!Angie is beautiful in all sences, Katie is the stepford Wife of Tom Cruise, she is not independent, she does everthing her husband says and commands, she is silly and pathetic as Tom!!!!!
Angie belongs to the group of Women in Hollywood, to which few can belong: Angie, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Jullianne Moore…these women, are Real actress, they have Real talent, they are Real beautiful and they are LADIES!!!!

Okay, what is this suppose to prove?

You are trying too hard. Concentrate on Jolie. This is just ridiculous!

    PEOPLE JA HAS MOVED ON!!

BP & AJ HAVE MOVED ON!!!

WHY DO YOU STILL WANT TO COMPARE THEM?!!!

IF YOU WANT TO GIVE PRAISE or criticize JA & AJ, DO IT WITHOUT comparing them. JA is leaving a superb life. She is happy, despite what people like you think and AJ is finding happiness in her charity work. So, leave it at that!
STOP COMPARING ORANGES AND APPLES, JA & AJ ARE DIFFERENT people.

Otherwise, such comments tend to show your insanity over some scandal that is sooooooo dinosaur old. Again, move on!!!

If you are a fan of AJ, donate to the Poor that is her message, and IT IS FOR EVERYBODY, NOT JUST CELEBRITIES. Yes, JA gives to Charity, despite your unfounded accusations of how selfish she is.

Some of you are rumbling about the charity that AJ supports, how generous she is….
If you think what she is doing is so great than follow her footsteps. Stop accusing people of being selfish when most of you have not done anything to help this world (yes, I am involved!!). Surely, accusing JA and AJ will not help in any way.

It is quite funny to read the comments that said that AJ is donating 1/3 of her income to charity. What about you, are you generous? Are you involved in some type of charity?

If you are praising her for her charity, while you seat on your derriere, then you are not any better than those you are accusing of being selfish. SO, LOOK AT YOURSELF FIRST, BEFORE YOU CAST JUDGEMENTS.

Are you better than Aniston? Where did you get your information? Can you confirm that they are 100% accurate?

By they way, you are free to believe what you think about JA, it still will not change the world, and surely her life.

Are you giving to the less fortunate?

  • Jen’s 2001 VF interview

A FEW MONTHS AFTER THEIR MARRIAGE, BRAD AND JEN’S MARRIAGE WERE ALREADY IN TROUBLES!!!

SAID JEN IN HER 2001 VF INTERVIEW!

“It hasnt been quite simple, this ahs been the hardest year of my life, as well as the best. Teh period after the wedding was extremely intense for a lot of reasons. This was the year where I took the deepest look inward that I ever had, and asked a lot fo questions for th first time. Theres’ been a real internal overhaul- about fmily, work, everthung. Marriage brings up all the things I pushed to the back burner, the fears the mistrust, the doubtm the insecurities.”

Her post wedding crisis was aggravated byt Pitt’s absence, who spent 3 monts on lcoation in Budapest and Morroco for the Spy Game. Says Aniston, “Im so concerned with eliminating shame and low self-esteem an apologies in my own life, there’s also the thing about privacy. What do we have to hide? What do we have to eb ashamed of? The bottom line is, I dont want to live that way, it tkes so much energy, who cares?”

Note: Brad also confirmed in his recent French Interview that his personal life was turbulent when he did Spy Game.

My take on what happened after their wedding is that Aniston’s true color had come out not only her being insecure, jealous, needy and clingly type of a person but also her real physical self, as she cant avoid anymore exposing herself without too much make-up and covers. Brad probably found out how fake she was, her boobs, her eyecolor, her hairline, her nose, all enhanced by cosmetic surgeon. Lucky her, Brad is not the superficial type and really a good person and accepted her for what she is and really tried to hang on to their marriage. But alas, Aniston is a selfish self-absorbed woman, she takes everything from Brad and did not give him what he wanted, a big family! I just dont have any pity for Jennifer, frankly, she deserves to be dumped.

Now Brad is truly blessed, he got out of her, still have a great career adn more importantly he now has a very beautiful woman for a partner, with now insecurities about ehr looks and of course, has has the big family that he always wanted.

Agree with you and putting this question to you: how do you know that we are not contributing to charities???
Just because you are feeling smug with your “Yes I’m involved!!!” and have the need to post it so everybody can see and may be say …oohh what a good person you are JEN!! So you are involved, no need to be shouting. And as a matter of fact Angie also doesn’t brag or shout about her charities unlike you JEN… have to actually explain that you are involved huh!!
To your question and pretentious , self-righteous comments and accusations , yes.. I also do donate every single month of my paycheck to a few charities… but alas unlike Angelina I do not make millions and my donations are tiny in comparison but no I do not need you to tell me to do this, been doing it for years…
Most people I know for your pretentious info do donate regularly but we do not feel that we have to brag about it!!!!
What we love about Angie is she is able to what we want to do and do it sooo well
She is beautiful , talented and generous… and yess we want to be like her, emulate her.. THAT IS A VERY, VERY GOOD THING!!!

    339Jen’s 2001 VF interview : 07/16/2007 at 5:20 am

Yes , am getting the same reading too. from previous interview ( frm Cannes) Brad had also mentioned that this was a turbulent time for him. It’s hard marrying a guy who is 10 times better looking than you. She should have realised that before, but I suppose she was so hungry of the fame outside of friends and throne of golden couple that she was willing to put herself thru all these insecurities which bred mistrusts which probaly cause the bad awful sexx.

She has been second guessing him from the start that he would leave her for a younger, georgeous woman than when it actually happens she felt so vindicated for being selfish , never loving him fully and never giving him the children he soo much wanted.

Well you poor sad, selfish woman..what happen to you is a sell-fulling prophesy that you’ve created for yourself!!

  • truthbesaid

    to ohoh!!

tsk!tsk!tsk! just like all the trolls… If we like Angie , we either have to be old or teens…….
your comments were full of bragging and shouting , hurt my poor old ..err..teen eyes..
If you think she is the symbol of perfection…then good for you! Never said she was… She very, very beautiful..yes, she is very, very talented..yes, she is very, very generous..yes… but is she perfect?? Probably to her children and Brad .. yes… to me… not quite but She is as close as they come and Love her with all her imperfections…

Your comment revealed yourself than me.

Don’t know if it was Brad’s interview or Angelina’s beautiful picture that got the haters so upset last night. But just in case it was the interview, I don’t want it forgotten for awhile.

    1998 Gussie

    The whole interview:

American cinema’s most beautiful mug returns to the screen with his band of seductive crooks, in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean Thirteen. Exclusive interview.

    - In Ocean thirteen you co-star with Al Pacino, your idol. How did you feel?
    - Al is one of the greatest actors ever. He is very nice, open and remarkably intelligent. I have never seen anyone invest so much in a role. During lunch breaks, I’d hear him repeating his lines to be perfect at the moment. Besides, I believe he was the only one in the band to be systematically excellent at the first takes.

-Yourself, you do not work like that?
    - No. I’d become mad if I went home at night in character. To each his thing. Fortunately, I’m able to concentrate on demand.

    - How did things go with Soderbergh?
    - At he end, we were all a bit sad, because we had been informed: there wont definitely be a Ocean fourteen. It it depended on me, I’d have piled up for four or five more episode with the gang. Soderbergh is really an amazing, complex guy. He always manages to get new performances from his actors. He is someone who stimulates creativity without violence, he is not simplistic, quite the opposite. And he always leans towards human interest stories and I love that.

    - Do you regret having done any of your movies?
    - More than one, yes. I have made bad choices, been disappointed at some directors, and then, at a certain moment, I thought I had shot too much movies. I suffered from a compulsion that made me shoot two or three films a year and therefore some which I should never have accepted. A madness! Some are dear to me, like those I’ve shot with David Fincher, “Se7en” and “Fight Club”, but also “Seven Years in Tibet” de Jean-Jacques Annaud, the “Ocean” movies, or “Mr and Mrs Smith”. Many others, I have accepted by fear of finding myself unemployed.

    - You, unemployed?
    - Yes. I had shot some flops, like “Johnny Suede” which nobody remembers now, “The Flavour”, “Cool World”, “The Mexican”, “Spy Game” and moreover I was going through a turbulent time in my private life. Happily, more exciting projects, from respected directors I admire came my way.

    - Like Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu’s “Babel”?
    - Yes. That part of an American travelling through Morroco whose wife is accidentally shot by a lost bullet was terrific to me. Being an actor is not a hobby, it is a job that requires discipline, hard work and respect: lots of industry people only have a vague idea of what those words mean. For me, they are important, because counting back I’ve spent half my life making movies.

    - You’re a working fiend…
    - No, not really…

    - But you say it yourself, you film a lot…
    - A shooting doesn’t take more than three or four months. After twenty years that means a lot, but I particularly enjoy the waiting period between two sets. I do like acting, but I can’t stand the idea of going back to it

    - If you are not addicted to work, to what are you addicted?
    - To be exact. I’m not addicted to movies, but I am to the intensity a shooting brings.

    - Do you think you have asserted your game?
-You do not? (Laughs). Frankly, I’ll say yes, I have.

    - What’s the difference between today’s Brad Pitt and the one from his beginning, twenty years ago?
    - If I answer that question, it will have to be a thesis. And we only have thirty minutes. If I sum it up in a sentence, the fact that I worked with people like Soderbergh, Fincher, Gilliam, Tony Scott, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Mark Foster and some others has polished my acting, cleaned it up and re-centered it.

    - By whom would you like to be directed?
/b>- By people like Michael Mann, Roman Polanski, Ang Lee… You may think that at a certain level of fame, we choose what we want to film. It is a mistake. I’m happy with, and proud of, 90% of the movies I’ve made, but I’d have loved to do some others: “The pianist”, in the Adrien Brody role, even if I know I was not up to it, “Brokeback Mountain” in Jack Gyllenhaal’s role… Above all, I’d love to work again with Edward Zwick , with whom I shot “Legends of the Fall”. He did a fantastic job with “Blood Daiamonds” some months ago. I was very jealous of Leonardo DiCaprio! (Laughs.)

    - It seems when you were little, you wanted to be Hulk…
-True. I adored a character that didn’t get red with fury, but green… I cracked myself up watching him.

    - And it is soon coming back… without you! You must be so broken…
    - (Burst of laughter.) I’ll try to survive it.

    - You don’t love any other super heroes?
    - I’m going to give you a scoop: I was asked to do the first “Spider-man”, but shooting permanently in front of a green screen to allow the superimposition of the 3D set would have made me loose my head. And I’m sure my public wouldn’t look forward to seeing me i that kind of production. I do not regret having refused.

We know Brad Pitt, the actor, less so the producer. How are things there?
Producing films is a financial bottomless pit. You stick your little finger in the process and you get eaten alive. But I’m proud of having produced Michael Winterbottom’s “A Mighty Heart”, adapted from the book written by the widow of Daniel Pearl, the journalist killed in Iraq, that was just presented in Cannes. Angie plays Marianne Pearl. I cried at the screening, she is that poignant.

    - Have things always been clear for you as to your path and all that happened to you?
    - Yes. I’m mature enough to take stock of my successes, the movies that worked well, those I’ve believed in but have failed and those I was always sure were going to fail. I did stupid stuff, the media didn’t spare me and cut me down to size. But sincerely when the media are on the look out for the smallest of your gestures, your slightest word, everything you do gets blown out of proportion. I thought I was stronger than the sensationalist press, that I should ignore them and live my life as I thought fit. But everywhere in the world things have become so hellish, so out of proportion, and even so unfair I had to let it go, or I’d have died trying.

Your tumultuous relationships with stars have not helped things…
    - I admit my life has not been restful. But what I do not understand and cannot bear is when people entwine my private life with my work. All the events of my personal life, particularly with my ex (Jennifer Aniston), were overblown. From the moment the public is interested in you, everything you do is subject to multiple interpretations, of which three quarters are false and biased.

    - The critics and the public shower you with praise, but, nevertheless, you have never received an Oscar or a Golden Globe, only two nominations. Does that disturb you?
    - No, that does not prevent me from sleeping, but I’ll be happy when it comes. If it comes! My logic is the most beautiful reward comes above all from the public.

    - May we risk asking you one or two very private questions, or are you going to put on your boxing gloves?
    (Laughs) You may always try.

    - Everything is well with Angelina? Because, when you’re together, she is not very smiling!
    - She is not one to show her feelings. And she is not going to burst into laughter every twenty seconds on the pretext of having photographers around! Everything is going well and we are as much in love as in the first day.

Do you love her numerous tattos?
Of course! It is body-art brought to perfection. Angie is a work of art: One almost ought to put her under glass in a museum (Laughs)

    - Couldn’t you have blown a fuse or, worse, became depressed with the media frenzy that surrounds your life?
    - I’ve often exploded, but in private. In public, I’ve the strength to show I can play the game. I’ve experienced the relentlessness of the media for a long time and a certain form of rejection from the professional milieu who had me catalogued and reduced to the “pretty face” shelf. But rather than getting me down, this has energized me and I have fought hard to build a carapace. When you are stalked by photographers 24h/24h, believe me, you cannot behave normally. And I am not saying this as an excuse for some attitude or other. Our contemporary culture builds idols in order to better destroy them. You are put on a pedestal and than the game is to bring down the statue.

    - How have you managed?,
By standing back, by retreating from the public stage, by not stringing films together, by taking an interest in the politics of my country and in the environmental problems that should concern us all. That has helped me understand how some things are so relative. And after meeting Angie I became a new man, intimately and artistically speaking.

    - Actually, in keeping with your friend George Clooney, you are also tremendously worried about the state of our planet…
    - Of course you’re going to say it is a bit hypocritical to proclaim oneself an environmentalist and to travel by plane, even if for professional reasons. But on my daily life I drive a small electric car, very powerful for that matter. I am very interested in the G8 Summits and often organize, as we did in Cannes, fundraisers to help the most destitute or for Darfur. To hang around artists such as Bono, Bob Geldorf, to be able to discuss famine and AIDS in Africa, malaria and the world debt with the chief decision-makers has also strengthened my beliefs. The need to inform and the urgency of these problems remain vital. I’m going to get more and more involved in the years to come. I’d love to have done something good in my life!
