Step Up star Channing Tatum takes off his dancing shoes and puts on his fighting gloves on the NYC set of his new action drama Fighting.
Fighting is a rough-hewn heroic tale about realizing dreams of glory, putting audiences ringside at high-stakes underground street fights. Channing, 27, stars as Sean Arthur, a young man who scrapes up a living hustling counterfeit merchandise in NYC. With family tragedy in his past and his father keeping him at a distance, this outsider has little to motivate him. A chance encounter with veteran street-fighting coach Harvey Boarden (Terrence Howard) leads to a whole new career for Sean. The ensuing bouts get tough, especially with the criminal element horning in, so Sean gets tougher. He will fight to win, not only the prize money but also the unexpected new relationships that are strengthening him.
Fighting opens in 2008 and is being directed by Dito Montiel, who also directed Channing in 2006′s crime drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

Channing definitely breaks the “models can’t act” mold. He was terrfic in “Coach Carter” and “She’s The Man.” Hopefully his star shines bright in ’08!

They are filming scenes for Fighting directly across the street from my job as I write and I have to say that Channing Tatum is FINE. Photographs…especially those up there don’t do him justice. I usually don’t give a **** when I see famous people in nyc, but he’s so pretty in real life…hard to ignore. I don’t know if he’s a bad actor or what, but the director spent about 3 hours shooting the same scene over and over…and over…

He is a horrendous action actor, I liked him in step up but thats it, he cant act at all in action films, Im watching fighter right now on my laptop and he is just as bad as he was when I saw G I Joe, he is so bland, no charisma for a big boy. Meh.
