Lauren Conrad: I'm Going to Do a Fall Fashion Show

The Hills star tells The Chicago Sun Times that, after going to Paris, she’s 99% sure she’s going to do a fall fashion show. A FALL 2008 FASHION SHOW! That’s huge!

Check out some snippets of Lauren‘s interview with the Times:

Are you a shoe gal? [laughing] I’m a huge shoes girl. I bought this big bookshelf that I installed on the wall in my bedroom. I keep all my good shoes on it. You almost display the shoes that way. Shoes are like art to me. They need to be displayed. I used to wear mostly flip-flops, but I only own a few pairs now. Now I love my Miu Miu flats with costume jewelry on them. I love Christian Louboutin shoes. They’re soooo beautiful. I try to buy only the basic shoes there because they’re a little pricy and I feel guilty buying them. But they’re such a classic design.

Now that we’re in such a girly mood what are your makeup secrets. Do you also have a few inexpensive skin care tips? I do use Mark, which is Avon’s younger brand [She’s a spokesperson for the line]. Every few weeks I get a shipment of it. The truth is as much as I love shopping, I don’t like shopping for makeup. It’s all about the lighting in the store. So I think of makeup shopping like looking for a bikini in the winter. I like to get makeup at my home and try the new colors in a natural light. …As for skin care, I’ve been using ProActive forever. I didn’t have good skin in high school and this is the only thing that keeps my skin clear now. You do have to use it regularly for the best results.

Who has the best sense of style in Hollywood these days and why? I’ve always loved the way Ashley Olsen dresses. I love the Olsen twin style. They really will try everything. These girls don’t follow a trend. They set their own trends. Anyone can open a magazine and dress the way they tell you to dress. It takes time to create your own style and the Olsens are brave and take risks. I take risks, too, wearing my clothes on the show. I’ve worn the entire line.

You’re going to Paris on future episodes of “The Hills.” How will that influence your designs? I’ve just been to Paris and it’s 99 percent for sure I’m going to do a fall fashion show. Paris was wonderful, but I’ll always just design for myself. My style changes all the time. Being in Europe, I was touched by how beautiful everything is …breathtaking in the details.

Who cares about reality tv stars with no real talent??

# 7

shes a sweet girl

“Anyone can open a magazine and dress the way they tell you to dress.”

Is she talking about her own crappy over-priced line?

# 9

hmmm surprised she uses proactive..is she gonna be a future spokesperson now??…planting the seeds perhaps?
damn

“I take risks too”

HAHAHA what by wearing her own clothes on her show? How is that a risk? First off, her designs are incredibly plain and average…simple dresses and cuts a la Forever 21. Her line is NOT fashion forward in any way. And by wearing her clothes all she is doing is getting free advertising for them.

This girl is an idiot and I can’t believe she is putting herself in the same category as the Olsens who have been acknowledged and praised for their style by Vogue, NY times, etc. Lauren is a girl from Laguna beach who used to wear Hollister and had overplucked eyebrows, landed herself a job at Teen Vogue only because she had a camera crew behind her, and now dresses trendy and thinks she is fashionable.

She is STILL rocking leggings and those horrid headbands, this girl is not fashionable. She is just a trend follower (those Louboutins she loves so much? The Olsens wore them first almost four years ago and now she is catching on because CLs are everywherrreeee)

Nonetheless, she gets to have her own line, which is still pretty cool. And with fashion, I think you have to grow and develop into your own style. It’s not fair to compare her with the Olsens; they’re veterans and she’s a newbie. Give her time.

With that said, where and how can you get tickets!

I agree with J… I’m guilty of watching the Hills… but that interview is apparently how she wants to portrait herself and not the reality of her. She looks like she’s promoting her products… comparing them with famous products of quality. I just cannot believe her words in this interview…

Jolie of course you would … you have no life like the rest of the brangelina fans. Love how Brad thinks you all have no lives … he hates you all.

You know after all the hoopla about the hills, I decided to check it out. I found out how vapid the girls are on the show, including Lauren, but for some strange reason, I like her. I’m amazed at the opportunities she’s gotten so far for being on the show. She is very ambitious and if she says she will do something, she does it. Good for her, fall fashion show is huge.

I like how she uses her bookshelves for shoes. I think that says a whole lot about her.

She is too cute. Love her clothes and style. She rocks the classic style. Whitney cannot dress to save her life in real life but looks like a doll on the show.

WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DON’T

You go girl @ 12/20/2007 at 11:06 pm

Good for her. She is making her dreams come true. She probably doesn’t have time to go to all the blogs and post mean comments because she is doing something with her life, unlike the meanies on here. Go Lauren!

She needs to go to fashion school. If she had indeed gone to one before, I’m sorry, it doesn’t seem to show. No one needs her overpriced and uninspired threads and I hope she realises that before they shut her down. If you want to see real fashion risks honey, you might want to take note of Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. They might be high on theatrics, but nobody ever accused them of being plain and average.
Lauren is awfully young and I feel she could really take advantage of her age to reflect her youth and fearlessness in her designs. Just my two cents.

no matter i still love lauren

ohhhhh soooooooooooooooo DRAMATIC! Its freaking clothes you fool!!!
and she can’t be buying too many loubuiton (SP?) shoes….she doesn’t make that much money $$ !!

I don’t think she’s trying to say she’s just like the Olsens, she just saying that they take risks and she does also. Obviously, her style isn’t as risky and cutting edge as theirs, but it’s still evolving and every time she tries a new look, it’s a risk for her.

As for her line, I think it’s cute, even though it’s very basic. It seems pretty pricey, but I would have to see how the quality of the pieces is before declaring that it’s “overpriced.”

As for the Hills, I’m not one of those people who can’t miss it, but I’ll watch it if it’s on. Sometimes to fun to watch silly, light tv. And I don’t blame Lauren for doing the show. I think a lot of people, especially those who want to be in the fashion business like her, would jump at the opportunity to get their name out there, just like she has.

And, J, she could definitely afford some Loubs. She makes a ton of money for personal appearances. She goes to a club, hangs out for a few hours, and they pay her. A lot of “reality” stars make money this way. (i.e. the Real World cast members) And, just because something is everywhere doesn’t mean it’s not fashionable. Birkins were huge a few years back, but that doesn’t mean that only plain, un-stylish people carried them.

You know, Lauren could’ve turned out to be the typical Hollywood “IT” girls who stumbles out of clubs half dead and flash their Britney’s everywhere. But she doesn’t do that. At least she still goes to school, interns, and works hard to achieve her goal of being in fashion. She’s no angel, but she’s a better role model than most girls Hollywood has to offer.

I like Lauren! And good for her for keeping at what she loves doing.
