Denzel Washington goes for a ride on a jet ski on Thursday while aboard a yacht with his family in St Bart’s.
Denzel‘s The Great Debaters opened on Christmas day and has since grossed $16 million.
The movie has sparked some controversy due to the liberties taken with the plot line. In the film, Denzel‘s college faces Harvard in the final debate, however in reality, they squared off against USC.
Why the need to have to change colleges?

Because they are trying to make the debaters look smart, and competing against Harvard would do that.
Any child could out-debate the fools at USC, and everyone knows it! You only go to USC if you have money and aren’t smart enough to go to Stanford or an Ivy League school, or can play football but aren’t smart enough to go to ANY other school.

it sounds more impressive if they say that they beat Harvard. I saw the movie and if they said USC that would make a difference in how i viewed their triumph. the movie as a whole was great.

I think the only reason really is because Harvard is more known. Kind of stupid.
When fans of the Beowulf poem criticized the film adaptation because of creative license, it annoyed the $h*t out of me. But in this instance, any criticism directed at this film seems justified, given that is supposed to be based on actual events.
Mind you, I have a major grudge against the Weinsteins and Oprah for trying to cut in line.
# 14: Have you seen the movie? It’s not a documentary, it said “inspired by a true story” and all involved stated a month ago why they changed what, so I have no idea why this comes up now, probably because the oh so reliable NYPost and their “knowledgeable sources” made such a big thing out of it.
Had they listened to Denzel and the others back then, they wouldn’t have looked as stupid as they do now.
And Oprah owned the rights for ten years before the movie got made, and the Weinsteins co-produced and distributed – so where are they cutting in?
That being said, it looks like they’re having fun, especially D’s sons on the jet skis!

Thanks for the information Jared. Either the story based on the truth is good enough or don’t make the movie. All this did was insult what these young men and women actually did.
