Spice Girls Tour CANCELED

Spice Girls Tour CANCELED

The Spice Girls just announced that they’re cutting their world tour short!

They have dropped Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina, reportedly because of poor ticket sales.

Here’s their official statement: “Sadly the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria. It was announced in June that, as well as the Europe and the US, the girls planned to visit Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina. Due to the phenomenal demand for tickets in the UK and the US along with the touring logistics for such a massive production it was not possible to fit everything in. As the girls return to normal family life and the kids go back to school they are reviewing all the options, who knows what the future might bring!”

The girls said: “We’ve had such an amazing time over the last 3 months. It’s been incredible being back together and seeing our fans again. We want to thank everyone who came to see us. It was all so mad the first time round, so we’ve really been able to appreciate it properly this time. There have been so many highlights and good times that we know it will be hard to be apart after Toronto. Really sorry if we didn’t get to see you this time round. We all have other commitments in our lives now but who knows what will happen next.”

Thanks, Doobybrain!

I dont really think its because of poor sales. Their tickets were snapped up so fast. They hadded many shows in UK and USA. I believe what they say about having other commitments and family life, they cant be on the road so long. Maybe they’ll do one for the other countries later.

  • Katie

Umm, not really. They didn’t cancel anything, they just are not adding anymore.. the original tour was only supposed to be 11 shows.. that has changed into 30 something…

They never confirmed they were doing the other countries, they suggested they might do it.

  • Orange Clockwork

    LOL. FAIL.

  • Melissa

Actually South Africa (and China I think) were part of the 11 original dates. They were supposed to be rescheduled. Even though I really feel bad for the fans who wont be able to see them, it’s their decision and I’m sure they have a good one.
I dont think ‘poor tickets sales’ is the reason either.
I got to see them last night it was absolutely amazing.

  • whatever

  • Kendra

what ? does that mean it is canceled in canada too or what ?

  • sam

Sweet!!! I got to see their first show!

Haha! it’d be so funny if they did ANOTHER reunion tour when they’re like 40 or something.

  • sakara18235

connect the dots; leads to britney spears; spice girls once as hot as britney—-FADS; spice girls/britney spears had teenage fans, fans grew up, and new batch of teens have new teen idols. spice girls taking being rich has-beens a lot better than rich has-been britney.

  • True

Liers. So disrespectful to their fans. Thats was just a reunion to get easy money.

  • Tanda

Jared, this has NOTHING to do with ticket sales. The girls are busy and they are tired. The have children to look after (excl. Sporty). They want to move on in their lives. I’m sure they’re having a ball, but they can’t live in the past forever.

  • huh?

  • the-girl-in-denmark

    NO, that’s sad.. :(

  • Sheldon

I wasn’t going to see them in South Africa anyway so I couldn’t care less.

  • Natasha

I think they’ve made a big mistake and will loose alot of fans =(

  • aussie

heh can’t be because of poor ticket sales, sydney was listed as one of the original cities and i registered to get tickets when they were due to go on sale, never received that email though cos they kept adding on northern hemisphere dates when it was supposed to be down under

  • melissa

there’s nooooooo way it’s because of poor ticket sales. Luckily, I am seeing them 3 times next week – but I am so disappointed anyways. What a way to go… they didnt end with a bang or even a fizzle. They ended with losing fans.

  • ammy-nicole

they sold out here in australia so i dont know what they are on about and they were only playing 1 show here and they were talking about coming to Brisbane and Melbourne cause there was such a demand for tickets. my ass it’s bad ticket sales.

  • kathastic

australia did have a planned date…sydney was part of the original countries, but then they cancelled the january date…and now there cancelling it all together

man this sucks…hopefully theyll come to the remaining cities later on

  • Steph

i dont think it was cos of poor ticket sales, the tickets didn’t even go one sale here in australia yet! and Australia was also the only country were their greatest hits went number 1!

  • ern

they say it was because of poor ticket sales but the tickets never went on sale in australia

  • cain

Yeah, they helped the hype. Now the hype is over, so they should just walk away.

The girls are losing fans, apparently.

  • Sindy

Poor ticket sales? That’s untrue, all the gigs so far have been well attended and the tickets for Australia, Asia and South America NEVER even went on sale!

  • CG

    why I am very glad

  • gwen

The interest for tickets in Aus was low. I mean they would have sold plenty, but not enough to justify moving the whole tour over here for a show. They would have lost money. It’s not like London where’s theres enough fans to fill a ton of stadium shows. 2 full shows at most over here, then the stadium starts getting a lot less packed.

  • Never scared to say it

canceled…it don’t even need to happen.first they were washed up and now since posh marries beckham and moves to America ,scary spice haves Eddie’s bastard baby …now they’re hot again.please….

  • indiesr

Turth be told…the girls are getting on each others nerves, so its time to call it quits!

  • change america
  • Elizabeth

It wasn’t because of poor ticket sales – they never even put tickets on sale in those countries! I think they just have other commitments . . . we’ll find out soon enough.

  • Didi

of course its ticket sales you guys no nothing about PR. its a classic PR excuse. truth is nobody wants to see the spice girls. its only the UK and US that are f*cking idiots and actually give a sh*t whether these talentless tarts are still alive. The rest of the world is privy to their arsehole-ness.
Their excuse of ‘family commitments’ is laughable and a pathetic attempt to cloud the fact that they are washed up has beens with sh*t voices and the rest of the world doesnt wanna see their wrinky bits bouncing around on stage. if they wanted to see that they’d go to a rod steward concert.

Some other sources are citing that both Mel’s want out, bcoz US offers have been flooding in on Mel B after her success on DWTS and she reportedly misses her husband and the Spice kids will need to go back to school eventually. Mel C thinks that taking longer on SG tour could jeopardise her solo career. What a bunch of crap. Victoria has always been running all over the globe leaving her kids behind,on Fashion commitments. Mel B has been in L.A the past couple of years without a job and a bank account drying up, does she think think she would been extended an offer in the spotlight on DWTS if wasn’t for all the hype about the SPice Girls reunion and group’s connection with Victoria Beckham? Bitch think she’s all that now? The girls should be grateful that Victoria accepted to be part of it, bcoz the seats at the concerts were mostly filled with 13+ hoping to do celebrity sighting of Posh. Some of these kids do not even remember words to the Spice songs at the Montreal gig, but were just fascinated by “Posh” even if she couldn’t sing to save her life.
Maybe it is a belssing in disguise, bcoz Ithe Spice Girls didn’t meet my expectation at the Montreal gig on thurs 31/01. You could see they were less enthusiastic, and looked tired and bored with the same routines after playing over 40 shows. Even my husband remarked that Victoria Beckham wasn’t doing any effort, she was robotic.Posh was just there to enjoy her celebrity status. The show was scheduled at 7.30 p.m, the arena was till closed bcoz the crew was still setting up the stage and doing sound check. The show started 2 hrs later! The 2nd half got better when they performed individually and finished off with the greatest hits. Maybe those who came to see Posh thought it was a great show because they didn’t give a crap about the performance! Maybe the fans in Australia , S.Africa , HOng KOng are better off not spending money on concerts were the artists are not giving them their money’s worth. The Spice Girls didný even say goodbye when they finnished the last song at the Montreal gig. They just went away and we had to figure it was time to go home when the lights went off!

  • koko

Simon Fuller wanted to make some quick bucks off Spice Girls too, and realised the tour logistics for Australia, Hong Kong, Argentina S.Africa etc might harm his pockets too! The Spice girls were in it for the cash including their crooked manager too! Since they all live lavish lifestyles between U.K and U.S, the currency in these countries have a lower rate of exchange against U.S $ and U.K pounds, which means they will be les rich when they cash the profit at the bank in U.S and Europe.Otherwise they would have to charge tickets at ridiculously high fees outside America and Europe., and they better not go there than having the Spice camp answer about unethical practice.

  • JI

Soo much for doing it all for the fans eh?

  • giannis

    Why canceled?

  • Dieter

I wanked again on Vicky B´s hot ass !!!

  • evemeyer

hmmm… maybe because they suck. Do they do anything for society besides runaround looking like snobby old ladies?

  • mina

i went to one of their concerts in LA and they were amazing! it sucks that they can’t make it to the other countries right now but i know that mel c has to keep promoting her solo album (which is very good btw). so maybe later in the year they’ll be able to make some of the concerts up

  • Angela antunes

It has absolutely nothing to do with poor ticket sales. the dates were never announced and tickets didn’t even get to go on sale.

  • Arc

The tickets for those countries NEVER were on sale, so “low ticket sales” is false. Please try to say confirmed news not just rumors or lies.
