NY Times: Diddy's Acting is Commanding and Fierce

Sean Combs (the artist sometimes known as Diddy) is getting high marks for his acting in the ABC special, A Raisin in the Sun.

Says the New York Times about the TV special, “There are no mediocre performances here… That Mr. Combs makes his desires seem like more than empty materialism must come in some part from the fact that he has been hungry at the same table… The play’s most poignant speech is his, and he delivers it with all of the dignified vengeance it demands, showing us that one of the great advantages of money is the power it provides to tell the wrong people off… Mr. Combs commanding and fierce.”

A Raising in the Sun premieres tonight at 8PM ET/PT on ABC (broadcasts in HD, where available).

I wonder if all three of his baby’s mommas will be watching the show tonight (Misa, Kim and Sarah).

  • Frenchy

    Good for him.

  • Jlo is a wh ore

#7, not to mention Sluttienna Miller.

    He’s fug.

  • natalie

He’s worked his a$$ off for everything he has, and has created an empire. Whether you agree with his personal life or not, you have to admit he is a hardworker and he tries to do positive things too. I want to see him continue to do well.

  • angie

#9, I don’t care what he has or what he’s worked his a$$ off for…millions of people work their a$$es off everyday and much harder than he has to, and yet they manage to not have 3 baby-mamas and sluttiennas on the side.

Angie, I wholeheartedly agree. I admire the fact that he came from nothing and managed to create a music empire. However, his ego overshadows everything he does. I can’t stand egomanics.

HA! I highly doubt that “Mr. Combs’” “acting” is ANYTHING but laughable.

  • he cant act

sorry but i saw the previews & oprah on this & thought he was so bad. he comes across just like he does in real life. i saw no acting & not change of character in him. the clips with him in them were painful. a friend of mine saw a raisin in the sun on broadway & said the same thing about him. however, his female co-stars seem awesome. the gal from private practice in it is really good & so is felicia rashad. diddy needs to go away. how did he even get popular as he can’t sing, he looks chubby, he isn’t attractive, his clothing line is so fug & he is so arrogant. they guy ain’t no jay z or fiddy.

Not a friggin chance I’ll watch this garbage.
Not a chance I’ll read or watch anything Oprah suggests.

Ive been watching it for 2 hrs and 20 mins now and I will say this; this production is an insult to the broadway play and the 1961 movie.
P diddy is to acting as einstein was to comedy.

Casting John Stamos as the bigot neighbor says it all… this is a throwaway production. i guess Sylvestor Stallone, Andy Dick, and everyother third rate actor must have turned it down.

Any rave reviews offered for this uninspired remake, with its blandness and lack of inspiration is frankly a slap in the face to the original production casts, and a condescending affirmative action “atta boy” . Pathetic.

What next? A remake of “Citizen Kane” staring Barry Manilow in the orsn Wells role????

Before the unlearned and knee jerk worshippers of P diddy, or race card playing bigots reply to this, I suggest they first rent the original 1961 movie with Poitier. To do less would be to demonstrate an amazing lack of intellectual honesty and good tatse.

the **** above after the Name “Andy” in the above post is the guys real name!!!!
you know the nick name for someone named Richard??: Begins with a D!!!! What a dumb site this is.

My girl made me watch this(she fell asleep) Critics were giving it 4 stars but i give it 2
The original film is far far far superior and P Diddy,Puff, diddo…whatever……commanding and fierce?!?! …PLEASE!!!!!

  • lily

i wonder how much he paid them to release this statement. with that being said, I’ll watch it but not to see stupid diddy but the legendary talent Phylicia Rashad and also Sanaa Lathan.

Diddy sucks and could go back to making the band and hip-hoppity-hop.

    DON’T CARE FOR HIM.

  • Malibumom

I saw it and I guess it was good acting for him. Everything depends on one’s point of reference.
