I guess that the book David was not suave or exploitive where women were concerned, although he stole he was not happy or smug about it, and he was at Millies apartment every chance he had if only to love her from afar – not out being a playboy. He would not even kiss that college girl because all he could think of was Millie.

So because of the changes to David’s character perhaps the movie version of David seems not to be able to illicit the same compassionate response out of audiences.

I too read the book and I loved the original concept of Davey being a young teenish and he was in desperate need to survive he could teleport home but he was abused there mother ran off when he was a kid so he robbed 1 bank..nothing more and lived a very very low keyed life so he went undetected by the FBI and cops..knowone was looking for a kid they were looking for a professional burgler..which he was not..HE loved to read and books were his escape from abuse..Miliie wasn’t some bleek, brainless twit she was intelligent and a psychologist student..Davey gave to those in need and never really thought about himself..only the act to survive..there was no Sam Jackson chracter only Brian Cox who was said to be a good friend in the end and he was also hunting terrorist for killing his mom not mom as one of the kiler of jumpers..Can we say nothing of the original book was in this only the character’s names and the fact he could teleport..BIG DEAL..I think that is my Steven Gould said the movie was MUTATED..he knew it would be bad news..

i was reading jumper while i am on my lunch break. i must say that davey is more than a super hero in the book than what we see in the movie. to me if doug stayed true to the book the movie would have been much better. millie character in the book is very intellectual rather than a ditzy damsel in distress.

Thank you for sharing the review of the novel. The book sounds like something I can relate to. Millie seems like a likable character in the story. The movie lost the appeal of the characters and I think the essence of the book.

I begin to feel that maybe the mentioning of Hayden should be left out of Rachel B’ a thread. The more we bring him up here the more he might be pressured to have to be seen hanging out with her. I think he has been trapped by those PRs, paps, and the Jumpers movie production.

I hope he is already moved on to his next movie project and away from this craziness.

The book was very good Reflex sorry to say is more millies story and not really that interesting I had to read it twice to actually get the jist of what this kidnapers wanted from Davy..they weren’t after him for money they wanted him to work for them forever..he wasn’t being released because he was the ONLY jumper..I think the idea that Davy was the only jumper no others were known of made him more unique and the story more facinating..Liman’s view was not a smart move obviously..he added characters he thought made sense and really it didn’t..The one thing about the books’ davy was the fact he was a teen he was intelligent and very smart he knew how to get in and out of the one bank he stole from and he did it for a reason survival and not as wealth..he helped many others who were like him less fortunate and he lived modestly because he knew if the FBI was looking for the money and they would look for someone who was spending it hand over fist in large quanities..this way living in a cheap ass apartment. no car, and not getting into trouble made it so knowone looked for him..

Millie as a Barmaid OH GOD that is soo not what she was nor how he knew her..she was not a damsel in distress she knew how to handle issue when it came upon her and she knew how to Handle Davy this version of her sounds pathedic..sorry to say..

They are actors and are a commodities to the studio that owns them till the duration of the contract is over they say sit next to each other they have to do it like it or not.. If Hayden does have a real g/f elsewhere and she is in the entertainment busiess she understands how it has to be for him as an actor it’s like a sex scene in a movie he is contracted to do it and thus the spouse or signifigant other tends to understand that..So that isn’t hard to believe..And not all men live and learn from past mistakes..I’m sure Hayden knows what it takes to sell a movie and the necessary means to do it, this just looks better to the public to make them seem like they are dating if this was the case then they would be with each other a hell of a lot more then we see them and really they aren’t together all that much only what a few PR photo’s every couple of months. doesn’t prove much..

The reason of late you see them caught with each other is because the movie is out and they are doing tours thus the reason they have to be together but, they are not alone either their PR/Managers and studio reps are with them as well..along with other cast memeber to some of the tours..

But, thus far Rachel has been alone since home and preferably so..Hayden said he was planning on returning to Toronto once the tours were over with and all business was done..Could be he did that already or is going to..

Hayden broke up with Sienna before the movie was finished filming, he even had to reshoot the sex scene after the breakup, he had his girlfriend on set during that shooting, he said he needed his girlfriend there with him…

I do have a point here, and it is, that if he had a girlfriend like many say he has, other than Rachel i mean, he would certainly not do it, and i don’t believe they’re dating to promote the movie, not even sure they’re dating at all, but most gossiper’s(trustable ones) believe so.

Hayden was already working on or hired for Jumper when he refused to finish the reshoots with Ms.Miller & promote the film. He was also filming over seas I believe at the time of Factory Girl doing its promos.
