Charlize described what you have to know for the citizenship test–how the government works, your state senators, what a Supreme Court is. And a the end of the test, the exam administrator apparently asks you to write the sentence “It’s a sunny day.”

It’s a sunny day!!!

i think she is a hypocrite and she really is beginning to annoy me, especially with her convenient american accent she spoke with on the early show today. You wouldn’t loose your accent as an adult so i dont know why she is trying so hard to put on an image. she’ll always be southafrican.

how did she get her US citizenship? on what grounds? Disgusting.

Eligibility for U.S. Citizenship

For basic eligibility to become a naturalized U.S. citizen, you must first a spend at least five years as a legal permanent resident of the United States, during which you did not take any trips abroad for more than six months, and were present in the United States for not less than half of the entire period (two-and-a-half years). Additional factors, such as marriage to a U.S. citizen, may affect eligibility for citizenship. The USCIS provides an online eligibility worksheet to help people determine their eligibility.

Generally speaking, to qualify for citizenship, you must:

Be a lawful permanent U.S. resident;

Be 18 years of age or older;

Be a permanent resident for not less than five years. (If a person obtained permanent residence through marriage to a U.S. citizen, they may be eligible for naturalization in three years if the couple has been married for 3 years, if the spouse was a citizen during that entire period, and if the couple are still living in marital unity);

Have resided for not less than three months in the state where the petition was filed;

Be physically present in the United States for at least one half of the five years (or one half of three if spouse is a citizen), with no absences longer than six months;

Have resided continuously within the United States from the date the petition was filed to the time of admission to citizenship;

Have been a person of good moral character for the five years of residence;

Have an elementary level of reading and writing English. (Exceptions to this rule exist for persons over fifty, in the US for 20 years or more as a permanent resident; and for persons over 55 , in the US for 15 years as a permanent resident); and

Have a basic knowledge of the fundamentals of U.S. government and history. (This requirement can be waived for people over 65 and have been permanent resident for 20 years.)

Oh congrats for her ! and for the crasy disugtsing #14 why you’re calling her disgusting ? the only one who is acting as disgusting here is you .

She lived 14 years in SA and is living in US since 16 years old now ,she left south africa whene she was 14 yo and if there is one who is very proud of the home country she is born in it’s her, she is bringing money helping and fighting for her south african brothers and for the record english it’s a second language there (it’s not Australia) you idiot , she speaks a xhosa an african native language and afrikaans she bringed her language in many interviews and shows ,as she said many time it’s in her blood and that no one can take it from her and that with the few years she lived there and she returns often there , now she is working and living in US since 16 yo playing an american roles how do you expect her playing the role of Josey aimes who is from minisota or stella from the italian job who is from LA in birtish accent maybe you idiot ? sorry if she is too smart to speak it easily ,she is obliged to speak it she is living in it and working in it she has to adapt herself to the environment she is living in that doesn’t mean she rejects her origins she said she speaks with her mom at home with her mother language , she loves the american ppl as well and with the citizen ship she could vote she said that since im living here ( 16 yo) i want to vote and express my voice ( and hope btw there will be a lot of ppl who’ll vote to make a change), and she is right since she is part of it now .

I saw the Good Morning America segment with Chris Cormmo, where the organization spoke about the work in South Africa you all are doing. I would like to offer our services and possibly a few college undergraduates to volunteer with your organization in a collaboration with our ogranization. We teach digital storytelling and we would love to see stories from Africa and share them with students here in the US. Our organization is currently working full time with Allen Temple Baptist Church and the international Aids HIV ministry to create digital PSAs public service announcements to address AIDS/HIV education. she really is the prettiest actress in Hollywood:always well dressed,perfect make-up,good acting..she’s got the whole package

Thumb up Thumb down 0

she is the only actress who is a true throwback to old hollywood glamours the rest like Scarlett Johansson ,katherine Heigl just look like poseurs when they try so hard to do it. But Charlize works it the best.

And people are so stupid making comments about her american accent. She’s said time and time again that she learned English in an American accent. She learned most of it watching the price is right when she got over here for god’s sake. That is her american accent, she’s not faking it.

You people are really ignorant if you think everyone who was born in South Africa can only speak in a heavy south african accent for the rest of their life. I know people from there that just came from there and they speak in a perfect American accent and they aren’t faking it, that”s how they speak their english.

Stop looking for way to hate on the gorgeous and talented and classy Charlize jsut because she makes you feel so insecure. ha ha.
