Christian Siriano Slams 'The Hills'

Christian Siriano Slams 'The Hills'

Project Runway champ Christian Siriano dissed The Hills stars Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port at the TAO Beach Season Two Grand Opening in Las Vegas on April 12. Apparently their fashion lines aren’t good enough!

Christian told Life & Style, “It’s really sad that if I didn’t win Project Runway, I probably wouldn’t have the sponsors I have now. I would have never been able to do what they have done because they all have disposable income, and yet their work still isn’t that great! I mean, it’s fun and flirty and young, but they’re not innovators. None of them will ever be an innovative designer. Buyers and editors are looking for longevity, and hopefully they will see that in me.”

OUCH!!!!!

In other Project Runway news, a spin-off that the Weinstein Company developed is called Models of the Runway, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will be a series looking at Project Runway from the models’ eyes. The spin-off, which will air on Lifetime, will follow the models who wear the designers’ clothes. Season six of Project Runway will also air on Lifetime.

FIERCE!!!!

It’s also been reported that Nina Garcia left (or got fired) as fashion director at Elle. But she may stay on the masthead as editor-at-large because of Project Runway, which has made Nina a household name and raised Elle‘s profile. Garcia will reportedly stay on for at least one more season.

YEAH!!!!!

He’s RIGHT! I am glad that I am not a struggling designer, because if I was I would be pissed! The only reason they have their own lines is because they are “celebrities” from a reality show. Not to mention that they all clearly come from money to begin with. There is something seriously wrong with our society for treating these girls like royalty.

  • H

YES HE IS RIGHT. YOU CALL LAUREN CONRAD A DESIGNER?! WTF. A SHAME.

  • Danielle

    i read that in Christian’s voice…

  • luckyL

    HE’S RIGHT

CUE THE IDIOTS WHO WILL REFUTE THIS

  • oh snap!

i agree with everyone posts above

  • luckyL

Oh, and he was VERY classy in the way he said it AND realistic.

  • zing

Yes, because it is always good in life to slam others to promote oneself, be credible and have some class.

  • anon

As annoying as he is, he is correct. Someone needs to let the air out of shows like the Hills aka the Hillbilies.

Nins will bunce back as Elle realized they made a mistake. Everyone wants her now. she’s very high profile and knows fashion unlike so many .

  • anon

    I meant Nina.

Yes, because it is always good in life to slam others to promote oneself, be credible and have some class.
    __-
It’s slander when it’s not true. So all critics do is “slam” people rather than speak the truth/ make an honest observation? Please review the English language. He is credible because he has worked with the likes of Alexander McQueen and won out in a crediable competition and I’m pretty sure he can actually sew HAUTE COUTURE unlike Ms. Thing 1 and Thing 2.

  • the shills

If you buy from a “celebrity” line, you should be embarrased

The only designer/actress that makes the cut is Georgina Chapman, the designer of Marchesa and married recently to Harvey Weinstein.

  • Alyn

He shouldnt only slam the Hills Girls. Every other celebrity is getting their own clothing line and lets be honest.. they arent designing them. Its not about designs its about the name. The list is endless…….

At least Lauren went to fashion school. I don’t even think Mariah Carey or Jessica Simpson even finished high school.

  • emmer

    HE IS SO SPOT ON.
    I LOVE CHRISTIAN

and as much as i secretly enjoy watching the hills, lauren should stick to her job working backstage at shows because her designs can be found at forever 21 for a much lower price.

The difference is, those people aren’t pretending they are designing the clothes and have not quit their day jobs.

  • luckyL

And the thing is, if Lauren and friends are, it’s just further proof to what he’s saying. I’m all done here. Everyone has said what needed to be said.

  • michelle

so true. I agree with everything that Christian said.

  • oh snap!

    TRUE THAT CHRISTIAN.

  • NINA

I was very sad, that he even made the finals, the other two were very talented…it’s NOT innovative if your clothes look like costumes…I’ve seen your stuff thousands of times before and it’s ugly!!!!!!

BTW Lauren’s clothes aren’t cute either, but some of them are wearable…

  • alyssa

ummm lauren is not studying fashion design at school – she’s studying merchandising/marketing which she switched to from product development…she is less than qualified to have her own line and christian is right, he has major talent and is not as popular as the dimwits on that stupid mtv show….lauren’s line is a joke…she needs at least 10 more years training before she should even consider having a line! she’s an insult to the fashion world. as for whitney’s line…….what-ever….she doesn’t deserve success based on the fact that she’s a horrible person!

  • jean

    GOOD FOR HIM!

    He’s absolutely right.

  • mehh

I’ve been saying this about L.C. from day one. Just another reason why I love Christian. =)

  • tee

I agree with Christian its seems as if everyone from the hills is suddently a designer Lauren may have went to school but Heidi give me a big break.

  • anja

Finally someone got the balls to say the truth!
It’s just a little funny that it was him :D But he is right.

  • RC

Now I wonder what he’s going to say about Victoria Beckham. After all, he design shoes for her *LOL*.

  • Shell

Funny thing is…most of you slam Lauren for only being famous cuz of a reality show….I wonder why hes a designer…oh wait thats right A REALITY SHOW….promote yourself for your clothing line not by dissing other people…this isn’t a political race.

  • rolling eyes

ahhh that guy speaks the truth!

    So rare in hollyweird

  • rolling eyes

We all know most if not all celebs that have their own line only contribute their name, and maybe the color of the outfit (if that much), but none of them actually design from scratch with paper and pencil, and then actually sew

So thanks for stating the obvious, but its good someone in a position to, actually said it.

ALL these brainwashed Lauren fans only make Lauren and her peers more unecessarily rich and famous…..while you her fans actually have to work for your hard earned money.
Do u see how that makes no sense people??!!!

  • Lillianne

Christian Silliano has totally jumped the shark. He is so 2007 it’s not even funny.

I believe I’ve heard FIERCE almost as many times as Paris said THAT’S HOT. How innovated is it to work one word to death?

  • Ashley

Are you serious! They have just as much right to do whatever they want with their fame! Who are we to say, they don’t have credibility or they won’t achieve longevity with their clothing lines?! Anyone who knows the right people to do something like this i totally think they should jump on it, and see how it goes! In my opinion Christian has just as much talent than those girls, everyone is different! And everyone likes different things! I think he needs to get off his high horse, and understand that making yourself look like a prick, isn’t going to do anything for your credibility, or at least to your public, who buys your clothes…

  • Karson

    gooooooooooooooooooooooo Christian!

    I LOVE YOU ! .. haha i’m soo glad he won (:

    he’s soo right

  • Halli

I SO read that in Christian’s voice too!

    Lauren’s a hot tranny mess.

  • he didn’t diss them

his comments were very ture & well spoken. he didn’t say anything bad about them. they are just slapping their name on a product someone else designed. lc wants us to think she is a designer but she isn’t. she does not have that kind of talent. look at the people on project runway. it is crazy how they whip together these great pieces. heck, i am impressed by just their sketches before they even make the garmet. there is no way whitney or lauren could ever sketch a design & cut & sew a garmet together. no way in hell. love christian – very talented. that gift is natural.

  • http://justjared.com mary

damn! that boy’s got attitude. i am glad that he didnt win project runway, he has criticism that no one wants to hear!!!

  • MD

I like what Ashley #29 has to say. They have their pathway to making a line through reality television. He took his way through REALITY TELEVISION. Just in contest form.

I believe that Lauren did design her line despite what many think. She did reality television to create a name for herself so she can have the opportunity to create line. . . .
Unlike some other Hills girl who shall not be mentioned, she actually works and not spend 24/7 frolicking on the beach.

  • Kendra

I actually agree with Christian! I mean if you look at LC’s clothing line it looks like something that some other clothing line has made already. Although I have to give LC props for going to fashion school unlike other celebrities who havent even finished high school.

GOD, I guess I just HAVE to step in and clarify. You are BOTH wrong. He has BEEN designing, since he’s teens. Unlike trust fund baby Lauren, he just didn’t have the MONEY to design a complete EXPENSIVE line but has BEEN making pieces for people as a FREELANCE DESIGNER. He has BEEN DESIGNING with high fashion icons such as ALEXANDER MCQUEEN.

LAUREN WENT TO SCHOOL FOR FASHION MERCHANDISING AND MARKETING NOT FASHION DESIGN. PLEASE READ UP PEOPLE ON YOUR SUPPOSED IDOLS AND WHO YOU CHOOSE TO WRONGFULLY TEAR DOWN. SHE HAS NOT BEEN SEWING SINCE CHILDHOOD OR NOW. SHE IS NOT DESIGNING.

    END CLARIFICATION

At age thirteen, Siriano began working as a shampoo technician at Bubbles Salon in Annapolis. He later began to work as a shampoo assistant and make-up artist for the salon, and eventually *****began sewing and designing clothes for the salon’s annual hair shows.[6]*****

Siriano attended high school in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore School for the Arts.[6] *****The school allowed Siriano to choose fashion design as his course of study, despite the fact that they did not previously offer it.****[2] *****After graduating, Siriano attended American InterContinental University in London, England.[6] Following the recommendation of a teacher during his senior year, he began interning at Vivienne Westwood, and later, at Alexander McQueen.[6] Siriano has named McQueen as his favorite designer[7] and one of his fashion inspirations.[8]******

i love lauren conrad and whitneys fashion side
they really are not struggling clearly they have parents that are like billionare’s but they dnt use them

    the hills rocks!!Wtf r u guys smokin??

  • Magie

YES! Finally someone has the gaul to say what a majority has been thinking for a long time. I mean I *love* Whitney, she is the only reason I stomach to watch the other three be annoying, but it is true that she got her line so easily b/c of her ”fame” from the show. But I will say that her line is much more diverse and innovative then the other two. Lauren’s line is boring as hell and waaaay to freakin over priced. I mean if I wanted a light knit dress for summer I will just go to Wal-Mart or Old Navy and pay twenty bucks for it. At least Whitney’s clothes look like they are wroth their higher price tag, and they look flippin sweet!

Christian is just FIERCE! I can’t wait to see more of him because he blew me away every week (say for the prom dress challenge and that wasn’t even his fault) on Project Runway and totally deserved to win!!

  • Don’t get upset bc

he’s telling the absolute truth. It irks me too to see these young blonde bimbo girls acquiring such fame and notoriety because they grew up in the O.C. The’re all over the pages now and they are just “regulars” – nothing special.

Christian can say it. He has the talent and he knows.

  • lara

    You said it sister!

  • Katie

yup i agree wholeheartedly with what he said.

lauren’s designs are cute for the moment…but nothing that will be remembered in 100 years time.

  • toya

OMG!!!!!!!! He is so right, Lauren’s clothing line is so plain, I can get those same designs at Forever 21 for less than $25.00. If she wasn’t famous and came from money, her designs would go nowhere.

  • Ha!

It’s obvious that the majority of the people on this thread agree with him because HE’S RIGHT. I can’t wait until these Hills idiots move past their 15 minutes of fame and we don’t have to hear about them any more. I am so sick of these fame wh()res who have little to no talent that we get stuck seeing and reading about. Go away.

This man put in the time, honed his craft and sewed circles around the other designers on Project Runway (not to take away from anyone else’s talent on that show). He was generally done with his amazing creations far earlier than the other contestants and took his spare time to perfect what he’d done or lend a helping hand to someone who needed it. He was dirt poor when he won that contest and living in a room the size of a closet.

LuckyL – we are so ‘lucky’ to have someone like you rebutting opinions, let people have them, you just acted hypocritically by telling me to learn english, when you just did exactly what you claimed one should not…. am I not credible for having an opinion then, in your words??? smooth my friend. get a life.

  • zing

oh, and LuckyL – life must be exhausting for you, being right all the time :)

  • LaurenFan

SHUT THE HELL UP HE SUCKS AS AN DESIGNER AND DON’T SLAM LAUREN CUZ SHE’S ALOT GOING FOR HER !!!

    DAMN LOSER !!!!
