The Japanese Version of 'The Office'

The Office star Steve Carell hosted last night’s Saturday Night Live with musical guest Usher.

During the weekly SNL Digital Short, The Office creator Ricky Gervais introduced the Japanese inspiration for his British version of The Office, which he said is currently being ripped off by the Americans version.

Check it out below and don’t miss the Japanese commercial featuring the Regis tampon!

Steve Carell as “Michael Scott”, Kristin Wiig as “Pam Beesly”, William Hader as “Dwight Schrute”, Jason Sudeikis as “Jim Halpert” and Kenan Thompson as “Standley Hudson”.

That whole bit showed just how tired Digital Shorts have become as well as how tired “Saturday Night Live” has become. The introduction by Ricky Gervais was mildly amusing but other then that I didn’t so much as crack a smile once.

Hilarious! Perfectly done. I read somewhere that ‘Michael’ actually says, ‘That’s what she said.’

The final line that “it’s funny because it’s racist” is awesome. I love Ricky Gervais.

I dont know what the rest of you are talking about, they nailed the American version of The Office spot on. Of course Steve is the same guy, but translating it to Japanese, its brilliant. It allows you to see how funny the show is without even knowing what they’re saying. The Regis tampon commercial with the Hello Kitty-esque head coming out of the tampon was very funny. This is, in my opinion, a very intelligent critique of The Office shows in general. Oh well.

That was really funny. And that’s something, considering it’s SNL. I don’t know why, but Steve looks really good in this. Maybe it’s his hair.

Hmmm,,, I couldnt find it funny….. maybe because I understand japanese…. It would be funnier if they spoke more english,,, or do sthelse instead… All the writings appeared on the show were awfully bad!! It did not make any sense,,,, and the tampon one,,,, i didnt understand what it is all about…… they could have done sthelse much much funnier with topic on Japanese,,,,
