Kristen Dunst: I Strugged With Depression

Kirsten Dunst took a break from filming All the Good Things on New York’s Upper West Side to clarify some rumors about her rehab stint.

“I didn’t go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse,” Dunst, 26, told E! “I went there for depression. It was a good six months before I decided to go away. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn’t know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge.”

Continued Kirsten, “There’s been a lot of misrepresentation about what is going on in my life, and it’s been very painful for my friends and family. Everyone feels like they have to defend me. They hear the rumors, and it puts them in a defensive position. Now that I’m feeling stronger, I was prepared to say something… Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about.”

Why did JJ omit the last part of this report, where she went on to clear another rumour that she admitted that she is not dating Ryan Gosling!!

Selective reporting JJ, bad reporting!!!

LOL. Brittany is proof that spelling “struggled” is very difficult, so let’s give Jared a break. ;p

I’m glad she is getting the help she needs but come on, Cirque Lodge is a rehab center. If she was getting treatment for depression she would have went to a psychiatric hospital. Regardless, good luck to her.

It is true. Depression is a difficult matter. It shall be taken seriously, because it is only a few steps away from open windows and knives in the kitchen. Or pills in the medicament cupboard.

I wish Kirsten all the best. She is a strong girl, she will make it! Love you, girl!

But I guess, if I come here to JJ, and my spellings are always corrected, I will feel depressed too.

Good luck to her. Depression is hard. It’s good that she took measures to take care of hers.

This site is filled with some of the most intellectually devoid comments I’ve seen on any other “movie” site I’ve ever been to. More likely is that they’re all fake though. Keep up the pointless gossip about people’s personal lives. I won’t be back.

Have fun!

She strugged? What does that mean?

Who cares how the bloody word was spelled for goodness sake! Depression is something VERY serious and I’m just happy that she got the help she needed. For those who thought she was on drugs and alcohol, I hope they choke on their words.

aww poor hollywood girl. Everyone that human is/gets depressed. Look at the world around you sweetheart, it’s not all moonlights and honeymoons, it’s rough out there. You get it together, and you make something of yourself, not rely on clinics and prescription drugs to take your hand through life. My god, a world of born losers.

She struggled with depression, normal. She miss Jake desperately…..

Did i say right? Sorry not american….:-)

isn’t she a pothead? smoking too much weed causes depression.

Thumb up Thumb down +1

Yeah, sure. There are too many sightings and even some pics that show her wasted. Sorry, not buying it. And I’m kinda mad too, because I have spent over a decade of my life to fight depression, and while it’s a serious illness for those who have it, I had to experience that it’s also a very trendy and comfortable excuse for those who lack willpower. Plus, other sources say Cirque Lodge won’t accept patients who have no substance problems. Who’s right? Dunno.

What Im wondering is this;
A person with difficult depression is sent to a hospital that specializes in depression. Not in ALCOHOL PROBLEMS. So Kiki is lying.
Im not sayng she was not depressed, but rather that she must have had an alcohol problem next to depression.

Thumb up Thumb down 0

Well she can claim that she didn’t go for alcohol abuse, but there seems to be plenty of evidence to the contrary. I would not be surprised to learn that she has lied to protect her career. I don’t see her as a 100% honest person.

When she entered, as I recall, a publicist for her said she was not there for “substance” abuse which usually means drugs. I thought it was significant that alcohol was not mentioned, implying, at least to me, that she could well be there for excessive drinking.

Thumb up Thumb down 0

well, alcohol is a depressant :)

I love Kirsten. I’m happy she’s received help. I wish her all the best!

It makes me laugh the way some people think they know so much, especially what the treat or don’t treat at a particular rehab center. You make a bunch of half-a@@sed assumptions and announce that she is lying.

And to “Eddie Jones”. You are an ignorant fool. You sound like tom cruis.

True depression is not something you just shake off. At it’s worst, depression is a terminal illness as it often ends in suicide. The mental pain one can suffer is unimaginable and is caused actually by a combination of imbalanced brain chemicals and overwhelming circumstances in one’s life.

Depression is not the same thing as feeling blue, worried, anxious or inferior. Clinical depression is a medical condition which needs professional help to work through and medications to balance the brain chemistry.
