Angelina Jolie Wigs Out in Green

New pictures of Angelina Jolie from the July 2008 issue of Vanity Fair have surfaced. (The green wig was Ms. Jolie’s idea! It’s also pictured in the background of this photo.)

The photos were taken Jan. 31, before everybody’s favorite humanitarian, mother, and sex goddess publicly announced that she was expecting twins in August. Here are some new quotes from her interview, where she lets us inside her celebrity bubble:

On why they named their daughter Shiloh: “It’s a biblical name,” she told me, “but we didn’t name her for that. It was a name my parents almost named their first child—there was a miscarriage: Shiloh Baptist. Because my father had been shooting in Georgia and that was the most southern name [my parents] could come up with. It’s a name I always liked. I used to go under it in hotels: Shiloh Baptist. I’d gone under it when [Brad] called hotel rooms where I was staying.”

On how she plans on raising her kids religion-wise: “[My mother] was Catholic but also a child of the 60s. She stopped going to confession at one point because she was having sex before marriage. To me, she represented what religion should be. She never preached. If things didn’t make sense to her, she never just accepted it. I had Communion, but she never forced me to go to church. Brad got me this great thing for Christmas. It’s a bookshelf that has a book on every religion. That’s how we plan to raise our kids. Teach them about all religions. They can pick one or be a student of all of them. We’ll celebrate Kwanzaa for our girl. We’ll celebrate moon and water festivals for our boys. We’ll take them to temples in certain countries. Also to church.”

On Brad Pitt coming into her life unexpectedly: “After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn’t looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know? I don’t see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies.”

On her father Jon Voight and his film Coming Home, which he won the best-actor Oscar in 1979: “Actually. I’ve never seen Coming Home. Because that was when my father left my mom, and the woman who he cheated on her with is in the film.” (When rumors surfaced about Jolie and Pitt, who was then married to Aniston, Jolie denied them, saying, in essence, Look, this is what happened to my mother, so I could never do it to another woman.)

Shiloh means a lot of things..Its a cool name as for as the religion thing, i guess in a way its good to have a understanding of all types, but iam sure that would be confusing for a child, though, maybe not

Zahara is african and last time I checked we don’t celebrate Kwanzaa in Africa. It’s a good thing that Angie wants her kids to learn about their roots but then do it right! Most ethiopians dont even know what Kwanzaa is.

Frankly my dear, I can’t stand people like you, judging and condemning without an ounce of proof.

Even Jennifer and her best friend Courtney believe that Brad did NOT cheat during their marriage. When you can show me some real proof beyond the speculation because Brad then hooked up with Angelina in April, 3 months after legal separation, you can sell it then.

Hi FALP, its good to see you around.

Just wanted to respond to your earlier post. I think what you are saying is that Brad left because he was sure she was not going to change. I think he left X because he no longer trusted and respected her.

Who knows. I can see why Brad would leave x because he couldn’t see her changing.

But the reason why I think it could also be about trust and respect is that I’ve seen love grow out of relationships built on trust and respect.

Most of my uncles and aunts of my parents vintage, had arranged marriages of one form or another. Even if the couple “dated” it wasn’t for long. My uncles and aunts went into their marriages with a lot of faith.

On the part of the women, – faith that the man was going to be a good father, a good bread winner and some one who wasn’t gonna dishonour the wife and children by having blatant affairs (if the men occasionally visited a prostitute or something, I’m sure my aunts didn’t want to know about it) and some one who will support them financially and be there in sickness and in health, in good times and bad.

On the part of the men, faith that their wives would be good mothers, good housewives and home managers, who would not dishonour them by having an affair and whom they could count on to be there by their side in sickness and in health, through good or bad times.

From what I’ve observed, if the husband and wife can keep their sides of the bargain, the marriage can actually function – many of them happily. It becomes a dysfunctional marriage only when one side fails to live up to his/her side of the agreement and the other party’s trust and respect evaporates over time.

I think many of these arrange marriages work because, underlying these arrange marriages is the expectation that provided the bargain is kept, each party is then responsible for their own happiness. A wife will not whine because the husband forgets her birthday or has no interest in her passions. And vice versa. There’s perhaps less of a power struggle to begin with.

I know the picture I paint sounds very unexciting and unromantic and certainly you cant see your soulmate stuff here. And yet, and yet, I’ve seen LOVE grow out of trust and respect over the years. Love which grows out of taking personal responsibility for your own happiness and trust and respect for your partner, that really does happen.

SO JON VOIGHT CHEATED ON MARCHELINE BERTRAND WITH JANE FONDA? In “Coming Home”, I think, wasn’t that where he had that much talked about controversial parapalegic sex scene with Jane Fonda?

I understand Jolie probably didn’t have sex with Pitt until after Mr. & Mrs. Smith came out, but you don’t have to have sex with someone else to cheat on someone you’re already with.

Anyway, despite the controversy Jolie knew her relationship with Pitt would bring about, she doesn’t care. She’s fearless. Her children are more important. She doesn’t care what other people think about her. Besides, these celebs live in their own world. Jolie grew up in Beverly Hills amongst other actors, with controversial relationships going on since she was born. So, she’s use to the hollywood culture and doesn’t care. She knows it won’t ruin her career. I mean, look at Clint Eastwood & Jack Nicholson & Elizabeth Taylor and others who have had many relationship. She doesn’t care if she’s called a man-stealer. She grew up with a father who had affairs. Our past President Bill Clinton is still notorious for affairs. The rich and famous get slandered all the time. They really don’t care what other people think. I think their culture is use to controversy. It’s like a way of life.

black>>>is it very hard to understand, and you are BLACK? kwanzaa is Zahara’s heritage, that’s what she meant, Shiloh won’t have any trouble to relate to white culture unless the whole family moves to Africa or Asia.
I love Angie’s ideas, really. I think it is the way everybody should look upon religion. Of course it’s about faith and conviction, but you can’t ignore the place you was born to, and the cultural dimension. What matters, above God or Allah or Buddha is spirituality, and religion is indees just a mean, a way to guide to a greater level of self-being. I am catholic, I’m loving my faith and happy to be so. But if I wasn’t a french girl, if I was born in Thailand I definetely believe that it would be very hard for me not to be buddhist, and if I was born in Saudi Arabia I wouldn’t have any chance to become christian. My religion has taught me that God is love, and everyone who seeks to be good is blessed by His love, no matter who they are- atheists or believers, muslims or animists.

Awww, there could’ve been another Angie, sorry for her parents lost with their first child!!!

    Frenchy Says:

That picture is funny. It’s like she’s going to a party.

The interveiw was not that bad but there was a lot of rehashing of the past. Angelina is not a newcomer. It’s like you have to sift through all the background stuff to pick out the new stuff.
