OlderAnne Hathaway Parades Onto The Scene
Get Smart star Anne Hathaway is the cover story from the June 1 issue of PARADE. Here are some interview excerpts:
On wanting to be known for more than just being nice: “It’s not that I’m all that bad. (laughs) I just think that people had this idea that I sat at home and sucked on lollipops and ate cotton candy while I watched cartoons—wearing a tiara.”
On the death of her Brokeback Mountain costar Heath Ledger: “That was tough. I hesitate to talk about Heath. He was special in so many ways. I can tell you that I feel I cared about him more than I actually knew him. It was devastating, and the people who were closest to him should talk about him in their own time.”
On what drives her now: “Well, I’d have to say a part of me is driven by gratitude, gratefulness. There are people that are a lot more talented than I am who have not enjoyed the success that I’ve enjoyed. And I don’t ever want to appear ungrateful for all that I have. I think pride drives me a bit as well. I don’t want to fail, which is part of the perfectionism I’m trying to overcome. I’m still dealing with it.”

I’m not so sure they remained as close…but maybe she meant him since his dad, mom, sisters and Michelle already payed tribute to him as well as others who were close to him.

i have a lot of respect for what she said relative to heath’s death. so many celebs like to hear themselves talk or puff themselves up. i am kind of over her. i loved her in the devil wears prada & thought she was so gorgeous in that movie. now i just keap asking myself why she doesn’t look so good & why she annoys me in every interview she does. hopefully she will be fab in get smart – one of my all time favorite comedies.

Good for Anne to know her limitations and not thinking that she’s the best actress in the world. I hope she stays grateful for all of her success and keeps on working hard to become the next Meryl Streep. Love you Anne.

Um, no… never! She cannot act at all. What is she even popular for? She was completely overshadowed by Meryl and Emily Blunt in TDWP. Any bland actress could have done that part.
For some reason, she gives off an incredibly fake vibe. I think her “niceness” is partly an act.
