Daniel Radcliffe is Tony Awards Surprised

Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter films, is in pure shock as he walks the red carpet at the 2008 Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday in New York City.

Radcliffe, 18, is planning his Broadway debut later this year in Equus. He will be reprising the role he first performed in London’s West End. He appears naked on stage!

Another example that being cute as a kid does not automatically translate into being a handsome adult. What happened to him? His eyes, eyebrows, it all looks really strange, like he hasn’t slept in 10 days and has splashed some hair restorer on the wrong places, and he definitely needs to spend a day outdoors once in a while and get some tan.

Oh, and by the way, if you have a second to spare, please visit my new blog about stylish design for kids and feel free to give me some feedback. I’d really appreciate it :):)

i suppose all the critics have only brilliant photos of themselves! Chill out, we all have a few photos taken of us when we didn’t expect it. After all isn’t that the only point of having a camera attached to your mobile phone!!!

also, just watching the award show again. By the negative coments of how Dan looks, holding back his future career…mmmmmm all i can say is Richard Griffith! One of GBs greatest actors, not a piece of bland hollywood ‘plastic’

Before you go around complaining, no offense but that’s what your comment sounds like, about hating to see mediocrity in acting promoted as “great acting”, where you were quite obviously referring to Dan in particular. I suggest that you go and watch Dan’s performance in ‘My Boy Jack’ as well as ‘Equus’, and then come back and say the same thing. Many critics have praised Dan’s performance in both and have dubbed him to be a young actor evolving, and unless your at that level of analysing one’s performance, then your opinion isn’t reality.

Dan did these two projects after HP and the Ootp, in which his performance to be very honest wasn’t great but it was as you said ‘adequate’, so I suggest that you don’t go around watching the wrong movies to base your opinion on Dan’s acting. He’s not the best as he’s only 18, one cannot expect a performance similar to the likes of Johnny Depp, but hopefully by that age Dan will be just as good.

I don’t really take critics opinions that serious because the reviews of the Harry Potter movies have always been amazing and I found the movies fine movie going, but not classics.

I live in NYC, go to theatre all the time and read reviews before and after seeing performances. Sometimes, I feel the critics boost a performance more than it should have been. Since Mr. Radcliffe has not been in NY theatre, we will see how well he fares here.

Plus, there was a revival of Equus a few years back. Most critics felt the play “showed its age”, but it will be well received, I know. And all the Daniel/Harry fans will be waiting to see his “talent”.

Oh, yeah, and hopeful watch the play too.

Your comment really says it all, what with the “And all the Daniel/Harry fans will be waiting to see his “talent”’ was quite immature, something that one doesn’t really expect from someone who claims to be an avid fan of theatre, you should have been able to give a better comment on your dislike of Dan’s acting than that. You obviously have already made up your mind on Dan and his acting skills, which really doesn’t put you in a good position to judge him.

According to you, “Sometimes, I feel the critics boost a performance more than it should have been” and seriously is that what you think critics that have praised Dan’s performance have done? They’ve boosted his perfomence as being more than it really was? All I suggest now is that before you start making assumptions and immature comments on Dan’s in Equus, watch him first and then say something.

    Casey Says:

I think Dan knows he’s not a good actor. I think that’s why he chose a role that shows his balls. How else would he get lots of attention? Also, there are brilliant actors in the play and the play itself is phenomenal so quite a good decision by him to get attention but not get vilified for his bad acting since the cast will carry him and showing himself naked will impress the critics since they appear to think that doing that somehow means you can act.

Also, these may be ugly photos of him (I’ve seen better) but they’re still basically how he looks. He was sooo much cuter in POA. They are going to have to do a lot of photoshopping and airbrushing in the upcoming Potter films. Not much they can do about the fact that he’s a hobbit though. :(

What silly comments. He did Equus because he wanted to escape the “boy wizard” image before he got trapped in it. Quite sensible. This picture was obviously taken when he was not “posing” for the camera. He is small (short), but clearly very good looking all the same. His eyebrows are just fine as they are. He is not the charming innocent kid he was in David Copperfield, but he seems to have grown up wihout going off the rails (so far). I would bet he turns out to be a kid star who continues to become a first rate adult actor. Compared to many kid actors I think he has his feet on the ground, has a great set of parents, is very very rich, and probably an all round happy young man. He is 18 years old (birthday July 23).

    Chris Says:

Most critics, and that includes other professional actors, said that he was very good, better than good, in Equus. Close to sensational. I am sure there are “fans” who are envious of him and would like to diss him, but the critics and the public at large adore him. He sure doesn’t need Casey’s approval. Casey who??? LOL

    Chris Says:

He isn’t wearing ANY makeup, silly. Areuserious has it right. The rest are way off base.

    Allison Says:

    These are the worst photos!
Try putting up some of his best and then ask the question!
He was so good in Equus in London that they have invited him to come to Broadway. How many 17 year old actors have that chance?
(He’ll of course be 19 when he performs here in Sept.)
Harry is one character – Dan is capable of so much more and we are going to see that in the years ahead.
Not leading man material? Think again! You’ll be eating your words!
