Brad Pitt is an Inglorious Bastard

Brad Pitt met with director Quentin Tarantino in France on Tuesday to secure Pitt to play the key role of Aldo Raine in Inglorious Bastards, reports Variety.

Tarantino also plans to meet Leonardo DiCaprio on Thursday to play another lead role, Hans Landa.

Inglorious Bastards will shoot this fall in Germany and also in France, where Brad, partner Angelina Jolie, and their six kids have been residing.

You do realize that the overseas market makes up roughly 63% of a HW movies gross these days. Only 37% is made in the U.S.A. And there are few actors/actresses that are huge overseas. Brad happens to be one of the biggest HW actors overseas/world wide.

In the last 3 years he’s had 3 hit movies. M&MS, Babel made over 100 million overseas and everyone assoc. with that movie, credits Brad as the reasons why. The movie had subtitles and it still made 135M and cost 22-25M to make.

With movie production costs so high, the studios will only fund big budget movies for stars with World Wide appeal. That’s where they make most of their money. That’s why a lot of the studios are now handling WW distribution, instead of partnering up with an overseas dist. company.

Will Smith has been very open and honest about his movie strategy. He and his manager did a lot of research to find out which movies made the most money. Action movies and movies involving aliens and that’s the track he took. He makes no apologies about it and he shouldn’t. It’s worked out well for him.

ROTFLMAO. You fcukin’ moron – Leo is a BAD EXAMPLE! Leo was in “Titanic”. Titanic gross over $1.8 BILLION by itself worldwide. That means that the rest of Leon’s movies TOGETHER grossed less than half of “Titanic”! Next time try doing the math BEFORE you make a fool of yourself, please.

    Titanic –

    Worldwide – $1,848,813,795
    Domestic – $ 600,788,188

    Leo’s worldwide total – $3,366,977,094 (minus Titanic = $1,518,163,299)
    Leo’s Domestic Total – $1,334,472,572 (minus Titanic = $ 733,684,384)

    Domestic Average without Titanic = $733,684,384/17 = $43,157,904.94

And for the record, the Average listed on The-Numbers.com is for DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE, not worldwide.

And I suspect that if they do get some foreign money into this film that Brad will only get $5 million for it, because he can’t pull people in since TROY, and that flopped here. Babel flopped here.

    +++++++++++++++++++

LOL. Now way is Brad only going to get $5MIL for this movie if he does it. The studios are practically salivating at the prospect of Brad doing this movie. He’s got them in the position Russell Crowe had Universal in after Brad walked away from SOP. Brad will pull down his usualy salary of $20-25MIL + points. I’ve been reading some of the movie websites and they all seem pretty sure that Brad can write his own paycheck if he signs up for this movie. Personally I still have trouble believing he’ll work with Harvey Weinstein. Brad lives with Angie and 6 kids…Tarantino he can handle with both arms tied behind his back.

    # 301 please @ 07/16/2008 at 9:14 pm #295 Why do you call someone a liar based on their personal conviction? Sometimes some remarks are over the top and unnecessary. Brad Pitt and Angelina are more than movie stars, they have so many other things going on in their lives. Talking about movies is about 1/10th of their lives. He’s paricipating in the architectural design of a big hote etc, etc. Can we move on to another topic? It is getting rather boring with the fake Dicaprio fans.

Great post, O2, and excellent point about Will Smith. For instance – last week Will revealed that he’d been asked to play Superman in the revival of the series and turned it down. His reasoning? “You don’t mess with white people’s heroes.” Will said he was very much aware of the limitations of what kinds of movies people will accept him in and expect to see him in…and Superman wasn’t one of them. That’s like Brad saying he turned down Spiderman because it’s not the type of movie he’s interested in doing, but it’s also not something his fans want to see him in.

Hey PT. How ya doing? Doesn’t matter how long you’re away, it’s the same s h i t, different day. LOL.

Will Smith has made no bones about saying, he set out to become the biggest movie star in the world. After Wild West bombed so badly, he’s also admitted to being afraid and that’s why he agreed to do both Men in Black 2 and Bad Boys 2. The first installments were successful and that’s what he went back to. Being safe. Like, I said, it’s worked out well for him and it’s gotten him where he wanted to be and good for him.

David Fincher once said of Brad, that you never know what you’re going to get from him because he doesn’t like doing the same kinds of things over again. That’s why I was surprised that Brad did O12 and 013. He turned down both The Matrix and the first Bourne movie because they wanted a sequel clause in the contract and he didn’t want to do sequels.

I always have to laugh at those that say Troy bombed. Sucker made 497M at the ww box office and at least another 250M in rentals and sales world wide. Yep, big bomb. LMAO! And I hated Troy.

I just think Brad drew a line a long time ago about which sleazebags he’d be willing to compromise about working with if the movie opportunity was good enough. So far it doesn’t seem like there’s been any Weinstein productions that he’s been interested in enough to roll around in the pig sty with Harvey! LOL. It’s not just about Putrid. Harvey Weinstein is a big skeezoid. He makes my flesh crawl just looking at him.

James Cameron ‘”Titanic” make Leo and kate a big star , just like Speilberg “Transformer” make Shia and Megan a star. “Titanic” with any leading actors on it will still be a Blockbuster. Oh, but you forgot that Brad made these very uninspired movies, back when he was a sad, miserable lonely uninspired man who was chained to the no-talent homely TV sit-com hack Jen Aniston. He was a dead man walking, his movies reflected that. They were either bad like the Mexican, or they were last gasps to sustain a career after gross neglect (O13, Troy, etc).

Now Brad is a man operating at the height of his artistic power, as he’s with another artist of the same caliber, he’s in love, he’s a dad, he’s inspired and feeling confident, assured, encouraged by his loved ones (not guilted out as in his hellish Maniston days) and empowered. We the film going public are grateful that Brad Pitt the movie star is BACK, and no longer saddled with a TV sitcom hack at cheesey TV award shows sitting next to Ray Romano. Bahaha :-D Brad is where he belongs, making critically acclaimed and lauded films and hanging with his peers and movie star legends. Not schlepping with the TV hag Aniston, and the Botox Arquettes at cable TV events.

Re: Will Smith – I like Will. I don’t go see all his movies, but I’ve always admired that he was candid about his game plan. Yeah, he’s gotten tangled up with that crazy Scientology crap and he may be in the closet, but Will is Will. His charm has taken him a long way…even when the movies sucked.

And Troy? Don’t even get me started. Movie sucked big time. I’ve never been able to sit through the whole thing at one time. It’s movies like that makes me understand why Brad turned down Bourne & Spidey & Matrix. It’s like the little girl with the curl. It made a ton of cash for the studio (and Brad) and I’m sure the studio would have gladly funded Troy 2 if they thought Brad would do it. Thank God Brad knew better. Frankly the thought of Brad as Neo or Spidey makes me cringe. No offense to Keanu fans, but I’ve seen wooden planks that were more expressive than he is.

IMO people are tired of Brad pitt and I doubt they’ll want to pay to see him in anything especially with so many hot young actors out there now. . It was his looks and not talent that kept the momentum going.. now he looks so botoxy. I don’t think he’s that attractive anymore. I think people thought the tabloids were hurting Jolie but I think the tabloids are crashing pitts career faster than you can say Meet joe black tbh.

I like Leo DiCaprio and especially his publicist Ken Sunshine. Hi Ken! I can personally say that Ken is one of the best publicists and nicest around.

Could Brad win another award for Burn After reading at the Venice Film Festival? For all you delusional trolls out there:

Brad Pitt: a chameleon who never loses his charm
    AFP

Brad Pitt, who became a father again late Saturday when Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins, has shown he can be laid-back or uptight and can carry an indie flick or a blockbuster, but there’s one thing that stands out in his almost two-decades-old career — he’s a charmer.

Born 44 years ago in a middle-class family in Oklahoma, William Bradley Pitt studied journalism and advertising at the University of Missouri before following thousands of young Americans before him and trying his luck in Hollywood.

As for many would-be actors, the early days were tough and Pitt supported himself with a series of part-time jobs, including as a chauffeur and removal man, even dressing up in a chicken suit to advertise a fast-food chain.

But from 1987 the work started to trickle in, with bit parts in television series “Dallas” and “21 Jump Street” and a few low-budget movies.

It was in “Thelma and Louise” (1991) that Pitt got his break, displaying his talent — and half naked body — as the two-bit thief who seduces Geena Davis.

Secondary roles followed in “Kalifornia” (1993) and “True Romance” (1994) and he finally made it top of the bill later that year alongside Tom Cruise in “Interview with a Vampire,” and Anthony Hopkins in “Legends of the Fall.”

If the man People magazine twice named the “sexiest man alive” needed any further affirmation of his talent, he got it with “Seven,” the acclaimed 1995 thriller in which he played a policemen spun along by a serial killer.

The success continued in the following year with Terry Gilliam’s “Twelve Monkeys,” in which Pitt was nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actor.

The high from that accolade did not last long, however, being followed by two commercial flops in 1997, “Seven Years in Tibet” and “The Devil’s Own” with Harrison Ford. The critics were also less than impressed with his pairing with Julia Roberts in “The Mexican” and Robert Redford in “Spy Game,” both in 2001.

But the actor won a new legion of fans alongside Edward Norton in “Fight Club” (1999), and hit the commercial big time two years later as part of a star-studded cast led by George Clooney with the remake of “Ocean’s Eleven.”

Pitt’s position as a Hollywood golden boy was now assured, and his commercial clout was only strengthened by his 2000 marriage to “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston, which made them one of the hottest couples in the world.

If the symbolism of his playing the unstoppable Achilles in Wolfgang Petersen’s “Troy” (2004) was not clear enough, he starred in two other box office smashes that year (“Ocean’s Twelve”) and the next (“Mr and Mrs Smith

The actor scored another hit in “Babel” (2007) but has recently stepped behind the camera and successfully tried his hand at producing. Through his firm “Plan B” he was involved in Martin Scorcese’s Oscar-winner “The Departed” (2006) and “A Mighty Heart” starring Jolie, released the following year.

Still in high demand, Pitt won the Venice Film Festival’s 2007 Volpi cup for best actor for “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” and stars in two upcoming movies — “Benjamin Button,” the story of a man who is born old and gets younger, and “Burn after Reading,” the latest offering from the Coen brothers where he joins forces once again with Clooney.

If people want to see Depp and Bloom team up, why didn’t hey cast Bloom on the several projects of JD which he was doing at this moment. ? Orlando Bloom was unemployed for quite sometime already, film with him as the leading roles all flopped badly. he can’t attract a movie alone.

This statement by that article is a revelation. Since the divorce Brad has skyrockedted back to movie star status. X seems more like a dimming light bulb that will fade out pretty soon.
