Miley Cyrus: VMAs Best New Artist?

Miley Cyrus enjoys a night out on the town with some friends in Hollywood on Friday.

The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star picked up her first VMA nomination for Best New Artist for “7 Things”. She’s up against her rumored rival, Katy Perry, with this summer’s infectious hit “I Kissed a Girl.” Other nominees include Jordin Sparks (“No Air”), Taylor Swift (“Teardrops on My Guitar”) and Tokio Hotel (“Ready, Set, Go!”). The VMAs will air live from Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and one-time only in its original format on Sunday, September 7, 2008 @ 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT).
