John McCain to Sarah Palin: I Choose You!

John McCain to Sarah Palin: I Choose You!

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate at a campaign rally on Friday in Dayton, Ohio.

Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president,” the McCain campaign said Friday. “Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.”

This move will sure pick up a few of the Hillary Clinton voters!

Little known facts: Palin came in second place at the Miss Alaska pageant in 1984. The 44-year-old Idaho-native also is the mother of five children.

And obama can’t use the “change” thing anymore either since he picked a running mate that’s been in politics since obama was in diapers.

Good for john mccain, picked a lovely vice president, she will serve us very well.

I TOTALLY AGREE WIT #1

SHE LOOKS LIKE A HAG!

HE WOULD’VE DONE BETTER IF HE JUST CHOOSE HILARY

OBAMA/BIDEN 08!

It is so obvious he picked her to try to get Hilary’s 18 million votes, but be for real, she is No Hillary! and she does not have the same beliefs of Hillary or the democratic party. I would not want to be used like that if I was her!!

wildflower509 @ 08/29/2008 at 2:35 pm

I just watched Sara Palin’s acceptance speech in Dayton, Ohio with Sen. John McCain. I was blown away by her no nonsence, for the people approach to government. Lara Croft is reborn in Sara Palin….the female terminator of DC come November! It’s not about empty promise of “Change” but the fact of “Reform” by Sara. This is one registered Democrat who is now voting Republican in Nov….our country needs them

the sad thing @ 08/29/2008 at 2:36 pm

Is that most will vote for McCain “JUST” because he chose a woman. Not for changes to the economy or to end the war.

America will go from terrible to worse if this man is elected.

Here's The Deal @ 08/29/2008 at 2:37 pm

This move will sure pick up a few of the Hillary Clinton voters!
__________________________

You bet. Which is EXACTLY why he picked her.

#9…. stop trying to sway Democrats to vote republican, we all know you have always been a republican who does not care anything about middle class Americans and lower.

first all the use of the word “chick” is both derogatory and demeaning. secondly, yes senator mccain can and will most certainly attack senator obama’s lack of experience. just as senator biden will attack governor palin’s lack there of. it’s a given. however, senator mccain has just given me; a supporter of hilary clinton, another very good reason to vote for him in november. mccain has done what obama failed to do; choose a woman for vice president.

WakeUpPeople @ 08/29/2008 at 2:40 pm

God help us if McCain gets in office…we will soon be in line trying to get bread in order to eat!!

Shame…he is using a woman to get votes. You could see on his face as he stood by her that she was not his first pick…such a shame!

God help us if he wins!!

Actually, she has more experience than Obama. This was a very smart pick for McCain. She’s very smart and would make a great Vice President. God bless her and her family, especially her son who’s heading off to Iraq to serve. Semper Fi!

The “fact” of Reform? Am I missing something here? What makes it a fact?

I like her @ 08/29/2008 at 2:43 pm

I like her!! Finally a woman!! I was a little bit angry on Obama when he didn’t chose Hillary as his running mate! Well, I am still undecided on presidential candidate!

think about this @ 08/29/2008 at 2:44 pm

I posed the same question when Hillary was running for president. Do the American people really think that the world is ready for the USA to have or would respect a female president or VP.

I don’t think so. Especially since America is so in bed with China, Russia & Saudi. I think the minority male will be more widely accepted than the female as far as dealing with the chauvinist world leaders & negotiating. Yes, they deal with Condi but she is not the final decision maker, she is basically a mediator and reports back to the president.

LOL!!!!!!!!!! No way they’ll pick up Hillary’s supporters……….this loser chick is anti-gay and against a woman’s right to choose. A real extreme-right-wing idiot, just the way the republicans like ‘em.

HILLARY VOTERS ARE FOR A WOMENS CHOICE…THIS EX-BEAUTY QUEEN ISN’T…

Not picking up this Hillary supporter. That’s for damn sure. Obama’s speech was right on last night and damn if anyone falls for this ridiculous ploy. She’s been a f*cking Mayor in a small town for most of her career. That doesn’t give her more experience in Washington than Obama.

to caring @ 08/29/2008 at 2:51 pm

this is one democrat, a hillary supporter, who will vote as i choose , even if that vote is for mccain. for the record democrats are not stupid, nor are we sheep. where do obama supporters get the idea that those of us who supported hillary, helped raise money for her , etc are now automatically supposed to vote for obama. i do not think so.
for my part, senator obama has lost this democrat’s vote. and i am not alone; other people i know who supported hillary feel the same way. you must understand, caring, that among many hillary supporters there is a great deal of anger directed towards obama that just will not go away.

Hilary supporters aren’t going to vote for McCain/Palin simply to have a female VP! Give them some credit, Jared. Women supported Hilary because of her stance on issues and her experience, not because she was born with a ******.

So McCain counters by choosing someone under investigation by their own state for abuse of power? Thanks Republicans.

For those hillary supportes who are angry towards Obama, shame on you! Obama has done nothing but compete with Hillary Clinton just as Clinton did the same. And After hearing both Clintons speeches, I cannot believe you guys are still so anngry that you won’t even listen to the person you supported. This is exactly what Mccain wants to do by picking her. He hopes that it will further divide us and that women will go to him instead of Obama. I think HIllary supporters are a lot smarter than that. Prove me right, please..

Original jpf @ 08/29/2008 at 2:58 pm

I’m extremely surprised she’s allowing herself to be used in the way she’s being used. When will it be learned that women are not a block vote? Also, the foreign policy deficency McCain has consistantly leveled on Obama apparently is a non issue in Palin’s case.

This is gonna be good.

jpf

To: to tia: “first (of) all the use of the word “chick” is both derogatory and demeaning.” Well, I hope Palin doesn’t object to McCain calling her a c*nt like he did his own wife. This pick is so desperate and dumb it’s staggering. So women are going to vote for this corpse just b/c his VP pick is a woman? Please! This makes George Bush’s choice of Dan Quayle look frickin brilliant!

how old is McCain

Ok, when I first found out who McCain chose as his running mate, I asked myself, “Who is Sarah Palin?” It is obvious that McCain has chosen her to try and entice Hillary supporters to go all republican. Now as a woman, I would flove to see another woman as president, even Vp. But that does mean I vote for any woman that comes along. Hell No!!! I am sorry McCain, but you must come better than that. What if the old far, whoops, I mean McCain has a heart attack or something? Is she really going to be able to assume the responsibility of Prez. ( that is if McCain wins the election)? And isn’t she being investigated by Alaskan authorities?

I’m sorry but any Hillary supporter who votes for McCain because of this you do your candidate a grave disservice. You supposedly voted for Hillary because you valued her experience and her principles. Palin is lacking in both those departments. She is against the minimum wage, against a woman’s right to choose, and against equal pay for equal work for women. That in no way represents Hillary voters and you should know better. Palin is no Hillary Clinton.

Smart move by McCain to pick a woman! I am democrat & i just might vote Republican this year! I would of picked Obama if he chose Hillary.Obama is going to eat his words for not picking her ! She is the greatest.

ganymede30324 @ 08/29/2008 at 3:11 pm

Awesome! Experience and talent! Plus, she didn’t have to marry into her ‘accomplishments’, the way Hillary did.

so happy about this

Obama/Biden ’08!!!!!

Yes, we can!

trust me I have far more respect for her than McCain does

Explain her experience apart from being a Mayor of town of 9000, a Gov (Bush was Gov also so………..). I won’t ever diminish her accomplishments, but please don’t lets pretend she’s got a political resume under her belt that make Obama look as if his are nothing when we know that’s in no size shape or form the case. You insult a helluva lot of people who deserve your respect for their service to our country via their time in the senate, congress, state and local when you choose to suggest that the person who they support lacks what it takes just because you’re rooting for someone else. I don’t and won’t ever not honor McCain’s sacrifices just because I have every reason to believe he isn’t right for the job he seeks,.

God not only bless her son but Biden’s too who’s also heading off Oct 3 to serve as well as McCain’s sons.

too dumb for words @ 08/29/2008 at 3:21 pm

Wow, thats the best McCain can do?
A former beauty queen. with almost no government experience to speak of.

She went into office December 2007–people that was eight months ago. and now this old as dirt man thinks that by putting in a barbie doll hes goona fool hilary clinton voters to vote for her.
He must really think Hilary clinton voters are total idiots that will vote for naything with a skirt.

What a moronic move on his part. I can see it now.. his poor wife going into jealous tantrums..after all.. did she not once steal her hubby away from his former wife in her youthful days.

This lady whover she is is nothing more than a token pawn…
Ladies voters are much smarter than Mcain gives them credit for.

We dont vote based on sexism we vote on experience and Hilary had plenty of it.. This women has nothing..
Why not pick condoleeza Rice?

I love the people who say she has more experience.18months as Govenor and before that mayor of a town with 8000 people. yes she is way more experienced. And if you vote for McCAin just because he chose a woman and you are still pissed about Hilary then you deserve to have your right to choice taken away…and believe they will take away your rights to choose. smart.

wow.......... @ 08/29/2008 at 3:22 pm

OBAMA BIDEN08

Palin is going to kick some butt. She is one tough cookie. She hates corruption. McCain made a good choice. This is real change. Palin was Mayor and she is now the Governor of Alaska. She has more executive experience than Obama. McCain did something Obama didn’t have the guts to do.

She is a hottie. Have you seen her legs. She is better looking then all of them, including their wives. Democrats have the little man complex. I am rich and approve of his selection. Poor people unite and vote democrats again. There is a reason why you are poor and the middle class.

So just because she is female you are going to vote for her? That’s ridiculous I DID NOT vote for Hillary because she was a female I voted for her because of the things she stood for. Governor Palin is just being used by HER OWN party which I find kind of funny and sadly (even though I am a woman) there are going to be woman that will vote for her just because she is in fact a female. If McCain wanted to he could easily kick her off after the election. You Hillary supporters are deciding to vote for this woman and have you forgotten the glorious and triumphant speeches in support of Obama given by her and her husband???? You have got to be kidding me!

Good choice. Obama made a mistake by not choosing Hillary as VP. I am very disappointed with Hillary for supporting Obama. She knows that Obama is very inexprienced and yet she choice the party than the good of the country. Go McCain.

Grace

she hates corruption? Umm but she’s being investigated for abusing her power. How does that work?

Isis Lara @ 08/29/2008 at 3:36 pm

As a Hilary supporter, I was going to sit out come November, but now I might just vote. Palin is going to break that glass ceiling.

mccain’s choice is one smart woman…she spoke with intelligance and class…no lies, honest truth…there is sooooooooo much back and forth lying in politicians…lots of promises they cannot possibly achieve.some don’t even tell HOW they will solve all the things they promise….they bash each other then claim to support those they bashed…crazy, mixed up society…

I expected more. You’ll vote for McCain because he chose a woman VP. The issues don’t matter. The fact that she’s pro-life doesn’t matter. The fact that she doesn’t believe in the same things as H. Clinton doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that she’s a woman. Wow. Let’s vote on issues not gender.

# 39 too dumb for words @ 08/29/2008 at 3:21 pm

Here here well said. Why not pick Rice? This choice reeks of a strategist who thinks people are too dumb to vote for what is right, sexism, racism, any other isms you want to make.

Someone in another thread even made the argurment that one of her accomplishment is that she also chose to have a disabled child. Do you see the irony?

Give me a break “barbie” girl is toast. What experience? Wait until the DEM sink the General HC on her?

“This move will sure pick up a few of the Hillary Clinton voters!”

Why? Because Hillary voters are all stupid pawns that will only vote for a woman, even if that woman goes against every single belief they hold dear? I don’t think so. Most liberal women will never vote for an anti-choice woman.

Sarah Palin is an impressive woman. A great wife, mother, business woman, citizen government worker, mayor and governor. She is fantastic on the single biggest domestic issue facing America, oil.

She is a reformer like McCain, works across party lines, hates government waste with a vengenance (when she became Governor she had them sell the governments private jet because she thought it was excessive and that she would fly commercial).

She gave great deference to Hillary & Ferraro but added that with her being VP, women plan on shattering the glass ceiling once and for all.

GO SARAH….McCain/Palin 08!!!

interesting @ 08/29/2008 at 3:51 pm

McCain has a better chance to win with this VP. She is a woman with beauty, brain, charisma and integrity.

So democrats argument is that the VP of one ticket has to have more foreign affairs experience then the the Presidential nominee of the other ticket also she has more executive experience then Obama and Biden combined and congresses approve rating is at 12% do we really believe electing two senators both with the sink of Washington will change anything there.

Sorry but I just made up my mind. I wouldn’t vote for this woman EVER! She is Alaska’s worst nightmare. Her stance on protecting the environmenat in Alaska is horrible, can you imagine what she’ll do to this country? She think it’s ok to slaugher wolves and bears so her hunting buddies have more elk and moose to kill. McCain, I admire you and think you are a great person. BUT you’ve just lost a vote.

interesting @ 08/29/2008 at 3:55 pm

I am a Hillary supporter, I will vote for McCain.

Will vote republican for the first time, with picking Palin McCain proves that he is willing to shake up Washington and that the American people have someone who is not going to do what is safe but what needs to be done which is what we need now more then ever.

# 52

what the hell are you saying any choice as long as it is a woman is good? The hell for the real issues of policies and causes and changes.

In other word, this choice is just good enough. Is that what you are saying?

You are an idiot…

By the way I am a female.

#56 stop pretending you were ever a Hillary supporter. What you are is a racist, sexist and an idiot.

interesting @ 08/29/2008 at 3:59 pm

Obama said “new, fresh, change” yeah, right, he picked a oldest politician in Washington. Give me a break.

Can’t stop laughing all democrats have been talking about is that Palin has no foreign policy experience, I see, that was so important to democrats that they pick a community organizer who is a first term senator and for most of is time in the senate he has been running for the Presidency of the United States, how much more desperate can democrats get.

# 57

I really wonder about some of you. What are you saying is McCain is synonimous with change in Washington. McCain and change…LOL.

please ….

There is no way that this inept-GOP-puppet with a ****** will reel in any Clinton supporters. This is an insult to women of any party. Women are not easily swayed because a woman is on the Presidential Ballot.

What a joke, and what a DESPERATE move from McCain.

# 61 ANNe @ 08/29/2008 at 4:04 pm

Please his experience and policies are way more than Palin what 5 months as governor and 2 years as Mayor. Yeah right…

antenalol @ 08/29/2008 at 4:08 pm

Hell he’s so not going to win this election for sure

I laughed when people called Joe Biden inexperienced and now this is just priceless. Gov. of Alaska? As one of the most traveled through states, I’m sure a hell of lot more people have been to DE than Alaska.

Hell, Delaware may be small, but we’ve got more people than Alaska does!!!

Have you heard her kids names? She’s insane, under investigation, and admitted to smoking pot!!

It’s sad McCain picked her b/c he wants Hillary’s voters.

He’s stupid and while most Americans will see right through his desperate ploys, I have to admit there are a lot of stupid people here too. Like those of you who are voting for McCain just b/c he picked a female VP.

andamentothat @ 08/29/2008 at 4:09 pm

Sarah Palin was a mayor first but is the current governor of Alaska.. which means she has exec experience.. I think her speech was very credible and yes they are trying to get in some Hillary voters.. well they got me!

Aeon
re:#58
That’s exactly what I don’t get. How is Palin change? Just because she’s a woman? I thought we were looking for change in how the country was run not genders in the white house. Silly me for actually caring about the issues and not publicity stunts. November when I vote I will vote purely on what ground we can break and not whether I think they can do good for the country.

I remember something I heard during a Jackie Robinson documentary. How while it was important for him to be the first black player it was even more important for him to be a great baseball player. If he failed he would set back any progress they had made. When we get a woman in the white house it should be because she’s worked to get there not as a stunt to pick up votes.

why isn’t it mentioned that she is being investigated in Alaska for firing someone because of domestic relationship issues

this choice is lmao!
mccain + old age + desperation + dementia + cloudy irresponsible decision making concerning future of all americans + one heart beat away = PRESIDENT PALIN.

if you are in a city right now
beware of large falling elephants.

Melissa @ 08/29/2008 at 4:11 pm why isn’t it mentioned that she is being investigated in Alaska for firing someone because of domestic relationship issues

_____________________________________________

I was wondering the same thing. Not to mention said someone she fired was her state trooper ex brother in law.

LMAO! I am laughing my ass off. LOL. She’s a beauty queen. If oldCain was so confident, why did he have to go for a gimmick?

The “so-called” Hilary supporters…YOU’RE NOT. It’s an insult to Hilary to compare her to this woman. Hilary is PRO women’s rights. This beauty queen is ANTI women’s rights. Hilary has something to say. She doesn’t. Hilary was offered the #2 slot–she said “no thanks” and chose the “Secretary of State” position instead.

What a joke. I hope women aren’t stupid to vote for this chick simply because she’s a woman. She’s a misogynist.

Obama’s “change’” is only in his words not action. McCain shows his “change” in action. Go McCain/Palin 2008.

If Obama loses the election, it is because he makes the mistake of VP candidate.

#68 Davey

Excatly what I am saying. The choice is a joke more of a publicity stunt then an actual consideration on why we really vote.

Republicans are only jealous of the limelight that Obama and the Democrats. They want some for themsleves. Hint this selection.

This is a Rove strategy to the hillt deflect attention from the real reason why we are voting for change in November.

To end the war, better economy, stronger foreign policy and allies, not because we just want to break the glass ceiling in the White House. Wake up and smell the coffee people. This is a Republican ploy once again.

I am a Hillary suppoter but frankly the reason she really lost was because she voted for the war and refused to acknowledge it. Americans were not buying it from her or McCain.

groundcontrol @ 08/29/2008 at 4:29 pm

I am sick of these men insulting women.

First the dems insult us by assuming we will vote for any man no matter how inexperienced he is just because he’s a dem and after a primary campaign full of insults to women. They top that off by not even seriously considering Hillary for Vice President.

Now the repugs insult us by assuming that we will vote for anyone with ovaries.

You know what ? They can both go take a flying leap.

There is nothing remotely attractive about this person, at least politically, for former Hillary supporters. Just because she is a woman, doesn’t mean she is the RIGHT woman to be a heartbeat away from the presidency!

groundcontrol @ 08/29/2008 at 4:34 pm

ganymede30324 @ 08/29/2008 at 3:11 pm Awesome! Experience and talent! Plus, she didn’t have to marry into her ‘accomplishments’, the way Hillary did.

#########

Hillary didn’t marry into her accomplishemnts. Before she even married Bill she was an accomplished Yale Law School grad who had already started a great career with the Watergate Subcomte and had begun working with the Children’s Defense Fund. She grew in accomplishments careerwise as her husband grew. Alongside him. She was never a housewife sitting home.

what if this man dies in office or has a stroke do you really believe this woman can run this country?

When I saw this choice, it was like Christmas morning for me! I can’t wait until the VP Debates, this woman has absolutely no experience that makes her a credible candidate!

McCain/Palin will win. Obama has no guts to change a thing.

# 83 groundcontrol @ 08/29/2008 at 4:29 pm I am sick of these men insulting women.

Amen to that.

The only thing I would disagree with is, (1) I don’t think Hillary really wanted the VP job (2) She is too RIGHT for the presidency not VP and 3) beside that choice had more to do with the strife between the Kennedys and Clintons. IMHO.

And, she’ll finish 2nd in this race/competition also. McBush is unbelievable……………does he think women are stupid????? This is just transparent and vile.

Hillary’s ‘jobs’ were tied to her marriage, and then she ran for President based on her ‘experience’ as First Lady! At least if Governor Palin becomes Vice President, it will be because she earned it. (Plus, she has MUCH better taste in husbands!)

Seriously @ 08/29/2008 at 5:10 pm

If Obama didn’t have balls to choose a female VP, what else can he do? All his promise of change are empty.

Here’s The Deal @ 08/29/2008 at 2:37 pm
This move will sure pick up a few of the Hillary Clinton voters!
***********************************************************************

LOL maybe five or six at the most. Palin is rabidly anti-choice. She’s Hillary’s polar opposite. Anybody who thinks women are going to desert Obama and vote for McCain just because Palin is his running mate is an idiot. Lest you all forget, Walter Mondale picked Geraldine Ferraro for his running mate. Fat lot of good it did either one of them. Bush Senior won in a landslide.

Oh F**K Obama! I’ve loved Sarah Palin since i saw her on glen beck a few months ago… shes a hell of a lot better choice than damn BIDEN! this hillary supporter and independent is voting republican!

Sarah Palin is nothing like Hillary Clinton. Palin is a strong conservative, opposing abortion rights and enjoying a life membership in the NRA. The only thing they share is the same gender. Hillary supporters are NOT that stupid.

Doesn’t matter whether Sarah is a man or woman because it’s Obama and McSenial who are running for presidency.
At the end of the day, women are NOT submissive enough to be drawn to a female VP just because of her gender. Those who supported Hillary understood her insight and dedication, her ProChoice and fair wages. These are the same beliefs Obama has and SO MUCH MORE!
McSenial random and impulsive pick out of hat for VP will make Bush look pretty good.
GO OBAMA!

McCain has totally lost it by picking her.
She is a soccer mom and has no clue what a vp does (she did an interview that is on you tube)
If he does win and something happens to him she will be president………scary thought!

count me in. i’m Hillary’s supporter voting for republican for the first time. I like Sarah Palin, she stands for what is right and is outright against those full of bs politicians. And the blood sucking lobbyist in Washington DC just got to stop. I took notice when it took SIRI and XM radio way too long to merge because the National Association of Broadcaster was lobbying hard against it. It’s about time for a few good men to reside in DC. whose with me?

*
*
McCain has a history of health problems that include bouts of melanoma, a potentially deadly form of skin cancer.
*
*
At some point, voters will have to ask themselves who they would want running the country if it ever became necessary: Joe Biden or Sarah Palin????
*
*

If McCain wins (which I doubt he will) and dies in office, this woman would be our President! She’s the Gov of Alaska for ***** sake and hasn’t even served a full term! She has next to nothing when it comes to experience. Hillary supporters should be offended that McCain thinks they’d vote for him just because his VP has a ******. Desperate, sad, and pathetic.

McCain is trying to appeal to the Hillary voters and using her for that purpose.

To borrow a phrase from Sen. Lloyd Bensen addressing Sen Quayle, one step removed ….. “Gov., I knew Sen. Clinton. Sen. Clinton was a friend of mine. Gov. you are not Sen. Clinton”

If you vote for him just because he chose a woman for VP, you’re a bigger idiot than Bush is.

watch and see Sarah Palin will blow you away. She is a natural and has no tolerance for power over principle. Give her a chance and watch the most awaited debate. Biden will be put in his little corner.

All you people talking about experience need to remember that George W. Bush had more “experience” than Obama OR Palir. And look what happened to America under his presidency.

OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!

whatever yo @ 08/29/2008 at 5:40 pm

McCain is 72 years old.

She is an avid hunter and life long NRA member.

PETA supporters, vegetarians, etc shouldn’t support her, I’m not sure that they will.

She is also against all abortion rights and wants to outlaw it… even if you get raped and such.

And she calls herself a feminist? It’s so dumb!

There are so many issues that, not only need to be addressed, but that need correction as well! I can say that without my political views getting in the way, Barack Obama is the only way positive changes will come about. Most importantly, I want to go abroad and not be embarrased that I AM AN AMERICAN! I returned here in May after living in Italy for six months, and it is downright staggering the amount of negative response I recieved just by my being AMERICAN. Ten years ago, people would have treated me as a hero just because I was AMERICAN. We should as a whole nation restore the good name of AMERICA before people forget about how good AMERICA has been in the past. I am proud to have a leader who I sincerely feel will bring us to where we should be!

The BIG boss @ 08/29/2008 at 5:48 pm

McCain is a pimp he likes having all those women around him I’m sure former runner-up for miss alaska can be a great vice president. W***E cough cough .McCain is as old as dirt he and Hugh Hefner are probably best buddies there both like the same age we know he takes visits to the mansion when wifeys out of town

To all those out there complaining about who isn’t and who is a true Hillary supporter…GET A LIFE! Obama was dumb enough to not pick Hillary (the winning ticket) so he gets what he deserves…a LOSING RACE!!! Before everyone ******* and moans bout McCain’s choice, how about actually researching the facts on her record not just posting what you “heard” about her! MCCAIN/PALIN 2008!!!

Joe biden’s son is also headed to Iraq. Do you know anything?

I can not believe people would vote for Mccain just because he selected a woman as his VP running mate. Are you freaking people kidding me. Hilary was never on Obama’s short list (and she never wanted to be VP any way she wanted to be President). Have you guys even listed to any of these candidates speak on any of the issues. Everybody that is saying they are now switching their votes to MCCain because he has a woman on his side never had any intentions of voting for Obama in the first place. Voting for somebody because of what sex they are or what race they are is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. Listen to what these people have to say before you go and make a really stupid choice. I am not trying to convince you to vote one way or the other but at least know where each candidate stands for.

If Obama loses, blame nobody but himself. wrong choice of VP.

Sarah Palin’s views represent everything Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has worked against throughout her life.

Palin isn’t going to peel off Hillary pro-choice, hard core feminists but she will appeal to the blue collar folks and working class women who were voting for Hillary in droves.

BTW, you are factual wrong that Palin is against all abortions. She supports having an abortion if the mothers life is in danger.

LIke her or don’t like her but get your facts correct when doing it.

*
Palin isn’t the right person for VP…
*
Back in June she said it herself…she is not the right person for that position…and she said she would stay in Alaska because there’s a lot to be done there…
*

Joe Biden said the same thing. Almost every VP candidate says that they would stay in their current position…….duh!

It doesn’t look to good for a Governor or Senator to say they essential don’t want the job they currently have if given a choice.

“And the blood sucking lobbyist in Washington DC just got to stop. ”

She and her state are the biggest blood suckers of pork there are. Get a clue.

smart Choice @ 08/29/2008 at 6:05 pm

This is a smart choice for McCain.

The difference is that she said she wouldn’t do it to Alaska!!! because there’s a lot to do there! just a couple a months ago Alaska needed her and suddenly they dont anymore?!?!?!

How stable from her!

When she became Governor she gave back money to the federal government for “the bridge to know where”.

She went against her party to do that. She probably hates government wasteful spending mor than McCain.

Also if feminists go after Palin for abortion it will shine a huge light onto Obama’s position and voting record.

That position being he actual voted against the Born Alive bill in his state that would’ve proteceted a child that survived an abortion.

So put simply Obama supports infanticide. As a pro-choice woman, I find Obama’s voting record on this topic vile. I don’t want Obama to select judges to the Supreme Court that would support his extreme abortion views.

TiredofthisCrap @ 08/29/2008 at 6:35 pm

I don’t see how she can pick up the disgruntled Hillary Clinton voters, unless theses women want their daughters and granddaughters going to backalleys again to get abortions, still receiving less pay for the same job and banging against that glass ceiling.

Hillary does not want to be VP, she wants to be the President, why should she settle for VP. Hopefully she’ll have her chance again.

Palin was picked, she was the only one on the short list anti-choice/pro-life. Tom Ridge would have been a stronger and more credible VP, **** I think he was even going for Leiberman. She was only picked to appease the staunch right wingers. To get those Christian fundamentalist out to vote, because the Republicans are going to need them this year.

Alaska woman voter @ 08/29/2008 at 6:42 pm

As a casual acquaintance of Sarah Palin’s I have to say this is a real eye opener. I didn’t realize how mis-directed some blog commenters can be.

Sarah is an amazing, smart, principled politician and a well-balanced mother and wife. I have watched her and Todd parent and participate in the community and I have watched her politic based on her determination to be exactly who she is based on how she was raised and how she determines what is right and not the way old-school good old boy politics would dictate.

This is probably the smartest move and the second-bravest thing McCain has ever done (after being an honorable prisoner of war). Some might think she is a pawn and this is a stupid move on his part, but you will all know soon just exactly why she is on a straight trajectory into the White House in a short amount of time. This country will be better and less corrupted with better communication and transparency than it has been as long as I can remember.

On the topic of the investigation into her firing of the police commissioner: Sarah was incensed by her former police officer brother-in-law who threatened, bullied and harassed her sister in order to intimidate her into giving up custody of their kids. She was disgusted by the police commissioner who had this evidence in front of him but he wouldn’t fire this man who could potentially display this aggression in the community. Sarah has the right to fire someone who would not do the right thing when given the authority to do so. She was protecting the community with the evidence she had. The legal investigation is just a technicality.

Yes, Sarah is ready to run this country if necessary because she is intelligent and motivated to do the right thing and she represents more than 50% of the FEMALE voters in America. Plus, she has Todd who is an incredibly dedicated and engaged father and supporter.

Conservative women voters: We don’t like to argue, we are the quiet majority!

I’m sorry but in the event that the 10,000 year old Mccain dies, I DON’T want to have a President Palin.

OBAMA BIDEN 08!
OBAMA BIDEN 08!
OBAMA BIDEN 08!

I watched Sara Palin’s acceptance speech in Dayton, Ohio, as well. She is amazing. She truly knows what she is talking about. Sen. John McCain made yet again another wise decision in appointing Gov. Palin. I was blown away by her in every sense of the word. A few months ago she was interviewed via phone about the importance and understanding of drilling, global warming, and stopping dependency on foreign oil, etc… She is amazing and so refreshing. No empty promises with her. She even has more experience than Obama. I love it!! She’s tough as steel! They definitely have my full vote now…

tired of ignorance @ 08/29/2008 at 6:51 pm

Ugh! Abortion…

Why does everyone think women should just blindly support a woman’s right to choose to KILL a life they created themselves?

Truly intelligent, morally right, principled women aren’t that ignorant and realize that everyone is better off when women take responsibility for their actions and parents teach their children right from wrong.

We need to help protect teenagers from themselves and communicate with them instead of finding out later our child killed our first grandchild because they were terrified we would “kill” them if we found out. We need to help women stop regretting their choices for the rest of their lives instead of learning what love truly can overcome.

We need to encourage women to give these innocent babies up to two-parent, balanced homes where they will be loved and grow up to be responsible adults who will make intelligent decisions.

Prevention, education and adoption – - not abortion!! Why can’t you people understand that??

Sarah chose to give live birth to a child who is not perfect to honor life instead of flushing that life down the toilet. Seriously people, who is doing the right thing here?

mccain 08 @ 08/29/2008 at 7:00 pm

Let’s see, she was a city councilmen, then a mayor, then a Governor of a state. How can you say that’s no experience??? That’s worth way more than Obama’s 3 years, 2 of which he has used just for campaigning. Give me a break. Sarah is an awesome choice!

mccain 08 @ 08/29/2008 at 7:05 pm

I hope that everyone criticizing McCain for being 72 years old remembers this when it’s their turn. In most cultures, you are respected for your wisdom and respected. Just because you’re over 65 does not mean that you are useless or ready to die. Have some respect people!

whatever yo @ 08/29/2008 at 7:06 pm

will people stop freaking talking about her like she’s running for president!!!!!!!!!

she’s running to VICE president for crying out loud!!!

Eightisenough!!!! @ 08/29/2008 at 7:08 pm

McCain is such a hypocrite!

I wonder what Hilary thinks of this woman who called her a whiner, and wants her 18 000 000 votes to come her way, as Jack Cafferty said, “What a joke!”

mccain 08 @ 08/29/2008 at 7:14 pm

For anyone who would like to know her bio:
1992-1996 — Entered public life, serving two terms on the Wasilla City Council.

1996-2002 — Elected mayor of Wasilla City, Alaska, for two terms until term limits forced her from office.

2002 — Lost her first statewide campaign for the GOP nomination for lieutenant governor.

2002 — Frank Murkowski left the Senate to become governor and named Palin chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

2003 — Split with the party leaders by battling Randy Ruedrich, the head of Alaska’s Republican Party.

2006 — Upset then-Gov. Murkowski in the Republican primary, then defeated former two-term Gov. Tony Knowles, a Democrat, in the general election.

2007 — Pressured lawmakers to get the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act passed, to build a natural gas pipeline to deliver 35 trillion cubic feet of North Slope natural gas to market.

Aug. 29, 2008 — Chosen as Sen. John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate in the 2008 election.

if MCcain dies this ***** will be our president
no one is going to take america seriously
with a women as president
no offense..i am a women
but hey thats the world for you!!!!
we are fcked pick obama

I love he picked this lady because now Obama’s ‘inexperience’ is no longer a problem; she’s only been in office for ONE term! He thought he would please Hilary supporters but lost 1 argmuent as a result. NICE!

#24….. it is people like you that do not vote on the issues but cast your vote on race or gender….that is very sad! if you truly supported Hilary, you wouldn’t vote for Sarah Palin just because she is a woman….she DOES NOT SHARE Hillary’s or a true democratic point of view!!

HillaryFans @ 08/29/2008 at 7:22 pm

To all you Hillary fans, it seems you all fail to watch the news and keep up with politics, She made it perfectly clear she DID not want to be VP!!!

mccain 08 @ 08/29/2008 at 7:23 pm

#138, please read my post with her bio. 13 years, including almost 2 as Governor trumps 3 years as a senator any day.

#97 Walter Mondale lost to Ronald Reagan in 1984. George H. Bush beat Micheal Dukakais in 1988. If you’re going to bring up past elections you should make sure you have the right canadidates.

As far as McCain’s choice of running mate is concerned I have mixed feelings. In some ways I do think its a bold and unexpected choice. In others it does smack of desperation, We’ll just have to see how she does on the national stage.

WakeupPeople @ 08/29/2008 at 7:24 pm

Seriously @ 08/29/2008 at 7:26 pm

f*&k the commie haters, McCain/Palin all the way.

She wears the coolest glasses ever! I’ve seen some clips of her and I love how she uses the glasses to look “serious” and to take away from that beauty queen face she has. She is stunning. She is younger than McCain and Biden and Obama yet she choses to wear glasses. Come on, she’s not fooling anyone.

You act like she starts wearing this glass just from today. lmao.

Alaska woman voter, here-here!! And thanks to the others who have posted her accomplishments for us. She sounds like an amazing woman, a GREAT speaker, and a true motivator. I’m so sick of Obama’s promises and schtick. He’s just telling the people what they want to hear. Anyone can do that. A real leader has to know how to work with BOTH parties and get the job done. One person can’t do what Obama promises he’s going to do. STOP WITH THE RHETORIC!!!

Good choice for McCain !!!

pollyanna @ 08/29/2008 at 8:02 pm

Of course this crack squad knows her office is being investigated for the impartial firing of her brother in law after his nasty divorce from her sister. Probabley had that big smile on before and after she issued the order. Just what we need, yet another unprofessional “leader.” Lots of fishy going on up there in Alaska. Just what we need, more stink in the White House. The Demo’s were so good this week I was in tears. We really could turn these frowns upside down. Sure would feel good to be proud of our figure heads.

Inexperienced and Ignorant? @ 08/29/2008 at 8:10 pm

Palin is one of the worst vice presidential choices imaginable. She has zero experience on the federal level and has shown a complete lack of knowledge of the Vice Presidency, as well as a lack of caring about foreign policy.

I’m sorry Alaska Woman voter, no matter how much of a jerk he is if he’s doing his job he has no right to try to fire him for personal reasons. That is not the type of person I want in power.

Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.

She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.

Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.

She’s doesn’t think humans are the cause of climate change.

She’s solidly in line with John McCain’s “Big Oil first” energy policy.

She’s pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won’t be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species-she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.

Those are other reasons I don’t want her as our next VP.

I was impressed by Governor Palin and congratulate her. She’s not afraid to stand up for what’s right and has the record to prove it. She may have been the Governor of Alaska for less than two years but you don’t have an 80% approval rating for doing nothing. Whether or not she garners any Clinton voters will not affect my choice.

GO MCCAIN! HE BELIEVES IN OUR COUNTRY FIRST! GO MCCAIN! i love sarah palin she is an amazing speaker-she is GREAT! obama is stupid i wouldn’t vote for him just for coming out on that spaceship thing or whatever it was he came out on at the democratic national convention. OBAMA SUCKS! JOHN MCCAIN WILL WIN!

My Hillary vote will be for McCain-Palin, great choice.

Razorback @ 08/29/2008 at 8:22 pm

Wow. They are so underestimating women voters who backed Hillary. True Hillary’s believers are about what Hillary and many others have fault for the last century (which Obama see’s). And by nominating this woman it only set’s women back. McCain is so desperate it’s sad to watch.

Obama/Biden 08

#141, get your facts straight. @ 08/29/2008 at 8:24 pm

Obama served 7 in years as a state legislator in the Illinois Senate in addition to 3 years as a U.S. Senator. That’s 5 times the amount Palin has served in any elected office worth anything.

Sarah Palin is an amazing strong and beautiful woman who will make Biden and Obama look like mean spirited whiners. She has an inner strength and moral fortitude which allows her to speak the truth and do the right thing. She would be a great Vice-President or President. She has an 80 percent approval rating, compared to less than 10 percent for Nancy Pelosi. She is exactly what this country needs. Obama is a Marxist who is trying to win by cult of personality. He has a Messiah complex.
Vote McCain/Palin this November if you love America!

McCain is such a **** Head… ugh i cannot stand him…
he onli picked that inexperience broad cuz he wanted hilary’s votes..
he is sick and fugly and hella old…

oh my gosh are you kidding me? barack obama is sooooo unexperienced you stupid liberals need to shut your mouths about no experience, what obama ran for president in 06 big woop! while obama was out being a teenager mccain was being tortured as a soldier representing our country! MCCAIN/PALIN FOR 08

I was going to vote for Hillary Clinton, and I still won’t be voting for McCain. What a desperate move.

wooo! i love john mccain and i love sarah palin and I LOVE AMERICA!
IF YOU LOVE AMERICA VOTE FOR MCCAIN!

Great choice McCain! You have my vote. Just like what Howie Carl caller said, ” For the very first time in my adult life I am proud to be a republican.” hehehe

Man, you people wake up! Obama’s past is so creepy, hanging out with that pastor for 20 something years. That’s enough for me. I’m quite nervous of him being in the white house and Michelle Obama, doesn’t she remind you of your mean homeroom teacher?

She is against a woman’s right to choose and she is anti- gay marriage, so how do all the rich Gays who run the upper echelons of the Republican Party square this. Nobody has the right to tell a woman what to do with her own body.

remember da truth @ 08/29/2008 at 8:56 pm

Extremely offensive that they think women believe any woman is the same, and that’s the only reason to vote for Hillary.

Jeez, Obama wasn’t picking Hillary EVER, and Hillary wasn’t wanting the second-place spot either — that was as much a media story as tabloid bulls*** is. Obama picked correctly — someone who is older and wiser where he is weakest. Have the guts to admit where you aren’t perfect and shore that up, like any good CEO does.
If you would vote for anything in a skirt just to vote for a woman, you weren’t really a Hillary supporter. You weren’t ever a thinking voter, either.

Hillary has spent decades fighting for the issues of women and children. And Hillary has more foreign policy experience both from the Senate and the years in the White House than this woman isolated up there in Alaska hunting moose. They are hardly interchangeable.

What kind of idiot would think they are??? What kind of idiot woman would fall for this ploy?!?! oh yeah– the kind of woman Republicans think all females are: bubble-headed, nothing more than reproductive machines that need to be told how to think and what to do by men.

I don’t know a SINGLE true Hillary supporter who wouldn’t vote for Obama. Maybe reluctantly, but they would still do it because the alternative is soooo different. And trust me, I know people who worked on her campaign and were bitter about Obama’s winning. Doesn’t matter. McCain is way worse, and everyone knows it.

It’s only the media that is cooking up some sort of Hillary support block that will throw away everything they worked for and believed in and vote for ideology that is the opposite of what they believe out of spite.

Give it up. Sure, the Republicans think that. They are out of touch with reality, And I have no doubt some bloggers on here might actually do that — after all, there are people here who believe anything in the tabloids. But no thinking voter jumps from one party that far to opposite ideology based on the fact that the running mate is the same gender as their chosen candidate. For God’s sake….. What is America coming to?

You have the right answer but wrong argument. If something should happen to McCain and the VP is made president, as has happened NINE times already in our short history, and needs to be considered with a 72 year old multiple cancer survivor, America would not be respected with THIS woman as president.

But “A” woman as president would not make us lose respect across the world. America is just about the last democracy to have a woman leader. Even Muslim countries have had female presidents! It has become so commonplace everywhere else that only America makes it a big deal.

Sarah has more experience than Obama. Not as much as some, but definitely more than him.

That being said however, NEITHER Obama or McCain are worth a s*it as a presidential candidate! Barack who is allowing all this celebrity to go to this head, and McCain who is just business as usual.

Either way you look at it, this country is f***ed!

# 150 Well said. There are a ton of other reasons not to vote for her. Just want this country needs another politician connected to the oil industry. Someone intent on destroying Alaska’s environment. She is the worst choice possible. McCain lost my vote. Go Obama

Destroying the environment? Really? I will never be able to get over all the tree huggers that are more worried about the alaskan tundra than they are the American Citizens.

My goodness Geraldine Ferrar had more experience than she has and Walter Mandell was an Ex-Vice President and the Democrats lost. I was a die hard Hillary Supporter and I donated my money to her campaign and she lost. I will never vote for this Republican woman just for the sake of having a women on a ticket. Hillary Is a special woman. We do not know this woman. Even Mccain did not look comfortable with this woman and he is telling women you people are so stupid. I will just throw something out because they are so mad with Obama until they will vote for anything as long as its a woman. He doesnt realize we are not just saying any women. Hillary is qualfied for any position she want in an Obama’s cabnet…….I am so please with the democratic ticket. I work at a Macy’s dept store and we are open until 10:00pm on thursdays, last night the last two hours we did not have any customes to come into the store and the ones that came in was in a rush to get out to hear Mr Obama’s acceptance speech. I live in TX. I know my sister is a Democrate and will not vote for a women for President or Vice-President. She voted for Bill Clinton, but she wouldnt not vote for Hillary. I was told by my sister that It would make this country look weak for a woman to lead it. She felt like that about Ms Ferrera also.

OBAMA/PALIN 08

I am a Hillary supporter and I am not stupid. Mccain just picked something out of the sky. Hillary does not think anything like this woman. This woman does not speak my language.

I really, truly hope you’re right. Unfortunately, as you can see by some of the posts here, some of the “Hillary supporters” are just that stupid. And I actually know “Hillary supporters” who will vote for McCain just because they’re bitter at Obama for not choosing her as his VP. (I know—-don’t ask.)

Some people who call themselves “Hillary supporters” will now definetly vote for him just because Palin’s a woman. It’s sad, but true. Of course, those people aren’t REALLY Hillary supporters—-because if they were, they wouldn’t vote for a woman who’s anti-choice and the jackass that picked her.

Like I said, Jill, I hope I’m wrong and you’re right. Fingers crossed.

__________________________

I hope all Hillary’s supporters are as smart as you. :-)

Hillary Clinton just congratulates to Sarah Palin and called it “historic nomination”. Go McCain/Palin 2008.

Ah democracy – how wonderful – one citizen = one vote — if you want to that is. One vote means one vote – you can vote for anyone you want. No where is it written that you have to read up on all the issues then pick the best candidate that has more of your point of view. It just says one vote for each and a lot of people won’t bother – a lot don’t care or even know about the issues and some will vote because their favortie celeb is voting a certain way, some because someone told them to etc and some will vote because they want a woman no matter what or a black no matter what or they just like the look of their faces. Not saying this is ideal but it is freedom of choice.

I’ve got to be honest; I was a diehard Hillary supporter, and there were DOZENS of things Obama did during the course of the primaries that left me with a major distaste for him — topped off by some obscenely hypocritical moves he’s made since capturing the nomination (flip-flopping on FISA, pandering to the center with his support of the Supreme Court tossing DC’s handgun ban, and after months of attacking HC on her early support of the war, picking a VP candidate who was if anything even MORE strongly in support of the war—not to mention apparently his new slogan being “change you can believe in, unless of course I’m struggling in the polls, in which case I’ll choose one of the old white-guy Washington insiders as my running mate”).

I have never cast a vote for a Republican, and I will not do so in this election, though I will absolutely have to hold my nose when I cast my vote THIS year.

That said, I have a certain amount of curiosity about what a McCain-Palin administration would look like, and if abortion rights were the only thing at stake, I might even be willing to put my vote where my mouth is. (Keep in mind, the administration can’t OUTLAW abortion, they can only replace an outgoing Supreme Court liberal–and Stevens is 88–with someone who would tip the court in favor of overturning Roe v Wade, in which case it would be left up to the individual states to construct laws governing abortion in their state.)

As a Pennsylvania native, I know a fair amount of Christian women Democrats who respect McCain and aren’t much impressed by Obama’s speechiness, and who (unlike me) supported HC *in spite* of her positions on abortion, gay rights, not *because* of them. I would not be surprised if even an apparent “gimmick” like this is all it takes for them to cross party lines and cast their votes for McCain.

Palin a pioneer, maverick — and game-changer

Wow…..Mccain is a DumbA$$…… Biden is going to woop Palins A$$ at the VP debate. She has no Experience at all! When McCains old A$$ dies…i sure as hell dont want her to be President. Her last name might as well be bush.

I like her more than McCain. She should be president. Anyway McCain picked a very good VP.

Talk about using someone……….. Thats all Mccain is doing….Using her to win over Hillary Supporters….What a Douch

John's Cheap trick @ 08/29/2008 at 11:38 pm

I sincerely hope that Americans will take time to think about the implications of Mr. Mc Cain’s thinking that he can easily manipulate women by simply picking one as his VP. Being intelligent people, most of Hillary’s supporters voted on the issues, and not on gender alone. The few Hillary supporters who voted on gender alone may well become manipulated. However, I hope that most of these people will move beyond their narcissistic pride, as Hillary herself was able to do! Bravo Hillary!……. I also think that it was blatantly irresponsible of Mc Cain to pick someone whom both he and most of the American public barely knew. We slowly learned about Obama and many of us (including me) gradually switched over to his side after seeing how well he handled the debates, Unfortunately, we do not have sufficient time to get to know Sara Palin. That means that most people who decide to vote for Mc Cain are also voting for an unknown entity. That’s pretty irresponsible, not to mention scary. It’s amusing to me (given John Mc Cain’s history of leaving his first wife due to her excessive weight gain during a serious illness), that Ms. Palin was an ex beauty queen. You can just imagine the conversation between Mc Cain and his advisors: Mc Cain: ‘Oh all right, I’ll pick a woman, but she better be pretty’. ‘ From the limited information on the news and the net, Mrs. Palin appears to very pretty, but also a bit impulsive and fairly shallow in her political views. I have great hope and faith that Obama and Biden will win this election. We have all had time to get to know Obama, and we already knew a lot about Biden. Both of them are decent, honest and highly moral human beings who sincerely want to help Americans regain their vitality and integrity. If they win, I am confident that the horrible downward spiral of economic neglect and demoralization that we have been struggling with for the past eight years will finally be reversed!
Go Obama-Biden!

It’s very sad that someone would think that Hillary supporters would vote for another person strictly based on gender. But in McCain’s view he did right. She was a former sports reporter, a runner up in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant, a co-owner in a commerical fishing operation. She also has a degree in journalism. She has had executive experience being a mayor of a town of what 7,000 two terms and governor for 1 year and 8 months. Bush was also a governor and look where it got us. But after all the GOP ranting and raving about the lack of Obama’s experience, I expected more. However, big oil companies might be happy with his selection given her state’s resources.
On another note, Obama has been right on more foreign policy issues than McCain so far; maybe it might be due to some experience in Congress where foreign policy issues are addressed. The fact is that the Bush has set a time line for withdrawal of troops from Iraq and is planning to send more troops to Afghanistan as suggested by Obama.
As a former Hillary supporter, I look for substance and will support Obama in 08!

Interesting!

Now I may go to vote!

to el @ 08/29/2008 at 2:57 pm ;
you say that obama has done nothing but compete with hillary clinton; then obviously you dont’ understand the problem or perhaps you just chose not to pay attention. for the record; our anger towards obama goes much deeper than that. yes, i heard both Clinton speeches and they were both excellent. except for on important point. i do not believe for one moment that either bill or hillary support obama for president. and as long as hillary does not truely support obama then i and others that i know will not.

also; what i find irritating is the assumption by obama supporters that those of us who supported hillary must now automatilcally vote for obama. what aggorance! obama has done nothing nor said nothing to earn my vote. and nowhere in his acceptance speech did i hear him ask me and all the other suppporters of hillary to support him. you notice i say ask not demand. as far as i am concerned who i vote for is open for debate.

This is such a desperate move it’s almost laughable. When I saw this I was thinking WTF. Is he serious? I don’t get it is he trying to lose?.

As a female and a Hilary Clinton supporter, I’m really offended by this pick. Not because I do not fully support the idea of a women in power. But because McCain picked Palin with the intention of luring Hilary Clinton supporters to his side. Does he honestly believe that women are that dumb? That they are mindless sheep that will follow a women simply because she’s a women? Well, McCain was very wrong when it comes to THIS women.

I wasn’t for Hilary because of her gender, I was for her because of her beliefs and because of her determination and because I thought she had what it takes to be a strong and firm President.

Maybe McCain is right. Maybe some women will vote Republican because of his choice as Vice President. But those women were never Clinton supporters in the first place. Otherwise they would have realized that everything this women stands for is conflicting with everything Hilary stood for.

Hilary Clinton is a one of a kind women, and I think it’s an insult to her as well for McCain to believe that the support she recieved can be easily imitated just by putting a women on his ticket.

Can you say GIMMICK!!! I feel sorry for the no-brainers that will vote for these two just because Palin’s a woman. She’s just as dumb as the rest of them because she knows that she’s a pawn. She has to realize that McCain has no respect for women. This is going to be the most interesting presidential election ever…EVER!!! LOL

McCain/ Palin will win. Just wait and see.

Ugh, as a proud female and feminist I do not think her being picked for VP is a step forward for women but rather a step back! She does not have much experience at all, has only been governor since 2006, while Obama has been a senator since 2002 which is longer, and despite what some people will try to say that is a large amount of time in DC. She was picked purely for the fact that she is a woman and shared politics with McCain, no other reason that I can see. And she doesn’t stand for womens issues, she is running with a man who does not want women to have equal pay, and it anti-abortion rights, and I’m not too sure of this yet but since she is running with McCain i doubt she stands for universal health care. She has become an object in the republican world. P.S she is not the first female to be on the ballot people! Geraldine Ferraro did it in 84! And she won’t be really picking up anyones votes because the Hillary supporters who are going to vote for McCain would have voted for him no matter who his VP was, and btw Hillary supporters should be offended by this, this woman didn’t even run for president, Hillary made the changes and this woman was placed in the space Hillary made by the Republicans. I’m ashamed of this…

Obama is the one that doesn’t have much experience and what experience he does have it’s weak and shows very little accomplishment.

I mean how can an editor of the Harvard Law Review (which Obama was) not have published one single piece of legal scholorship…..not one!!

This guy is only good at filling big arena’s and putting on a show. And from the looks of it, his firework display was puny compared to Beijing.

Putting on a show that looked dinky compared to the Chinese is probably the best look for a man who wants to be POTUS.

ShimmeringDew @ 08/30/2008 at 1:47 am

He chose her because he had to sway H. Clinton voters his way…what a shame she takes the position to sway Democratic voters to his side. Than she has to suck it up as if that isnt really the reason he chose a woman. This election is so funny. If the H. Clinton voters are blind sided by a female as president than they look/sound/are just as silly as the republican party.
I’ve had my say…OBAMA/BIDEN ALL THE WAY!

The problem with choosing Palin as VP is not the fact that she doesn’t have alot of experience (which she does not) but the fact that they have been harping on Obama for his lack of experience and then they go and choose someone that has even less than Obama. Also, you have to really think of what is going to happen if god forbid something happens to McCain. If something does happen, Palin will be the next president. Is that what all of you really want?? Someone that is mayor of a town of 7000 and then governor of a large state land wise with a population of less than Delaware who is caught in a scandal that reminds me of a bad episode of Maury is not someone that I want to represent the US in the foreign arena! God, I would be more comfortable with Romney and I’m a liberal!

Plus, just because she is a woman and I am one as well does not mean that I will vote for her. Even trying to make that argument is insulting to woman everywhere!

She looks much older than 44.

Obama’s big thing was “change” and saying McCain is ‘old washington”. The he goes and picks and old washington guy for his vp. Obama says he is just fine on foreign policy even is he has no experience and then goes and picks a guy who has foreign policy experience to bolster his own lack even though he says he doesn’t lack it. go figure. Obama says McCain is same old same old but McCain gets the last laugh picking a fresh face for his VP pick. Guess McCain had the guts to change that Obama doesn’t. And for all those saying she is this or that-how about you actually listen to the lady speak. This gal is smart, charismatic, and spunky. There are those who say she doesn’t have a lot of experience-well, see, she is the student, McCain the older statesman-the teacher/professor. She learns from him. Barack has it backwards. Biden should be the teacher/professor because Barack doesn’t have anything he can teach anyone. Maybe how to sit under a racist pastor and how to be friends with an admitted terrorist. People should actually check out Palin and listen to her speak before bashing her.

I will vote for McCain. I am very disappointed about Obama’s so called “change”. He could make the first change by choosing Hillary as vice President, but he totally blew it.

Obama is a fake, phony.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08!!!

YEP dems, its christmas in august!!!!

Before McCain chose this VP, I thought Obama has a huge chance to win. But after McCain chose Sarah Palin, I think Obama chance to win has reduced a lot. He may even lose.

I am glad McCain made Palin his VP choice. I will vote for him. I am a woman, well-informed on the election, and prefer McCain over Obama any day!!!!

I 2nd what Sara said above. And why is everyone saying Obama has been a senator for so long? I looked up his bio and it clearly states US senator 2005 – present. My vote is with McCain!

I was so excited about this choice I almost peed my pants.

No one will reverse ROE vs. WADE. You are stupid if you think so. At a certain point in pregnancy fetuses should get rights. Partial Birth Abortion are just sick.

I’m so excited that Palin could be the next VP of America. McCain has shown time and time again that he is for change. Most of you apparently forget these last 8 years. McCain fought Bush and took a beating from him in 2000. He is moderate republican and isn’t as far right as you perceive.

O.M.G,

Some of you (fake?) posters claiming to be switching to John McCain are really scaring me.

As an ardent Hillary Clinton supporter I am just disgusted reading all the troll posts claiming to be a “Hillary supporter” Yea right,

Listen carefully.

McCain is 72 years old.

72 year old is the average life expectancy for a HEALTHY male.

John McCain has had cancer multiple times.

This woman knows NOTHING about foreign policy.

This woman knows NOTHING about economics.

She is was the mayor of a town of 7,000 people.

She is in an investigation with the authorieties.

Nobody knows her

Would you really want her leading this country????

WTF. ARE AMERICANS REALLY THIS STUPID?

SHOULD JOHN MCCAIN DIE AND IRAN COME IN AND NUKE THE HELL OUT OF US WITH THIS ***** IN OFFICE, YOU ALL SO CALLED HILLARY SUPPORTERS DESERVE TO DIE.

I am repulsed that John McCain thinks women are all this stupid. Do you know you are just falling for that old mans trap? You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

trueblueamerican @ 08/30/2008 at 6:33 am

Obama (the mouth) vs Palin (action) hmmm, I think Palin wins in the experience debate!

remember da truth @ 08/30/2008 at 8:41 am

I can’t believe people are still saying that Obama made a bad choice for VP and should have picked someone who didn’t want it and was never in the running for it just because she’s a woman.

You people are absolutely the reason why Bush is still in office, and why America is the laughing stock of the world.

Biden with Obama was BRILLIANT. Now he can make all those changes he’s talking about because he has a Washington guy who has built relationships for years and can get things done. Otherwise, it’s just gridlock.

Also, all the lack of experience is about FOREIGN POLICY experience, you idiots!! Are you people really that ignorant that you hear some phrase or snippet on TV and start repeating it without knowing what you are talking abou?!?! Obama has less foreign policy experience than McCain, but this woman might not have ever even left the country, except as a tourist!!

Slam f-ing dunk!!!!
Bye bye uhhhhhhbama!!!
Even my 8 yr old makes fun of uhhhhhbama and his uhhhhs and stutters……
This woman is the real deal!!! Love her!!! Her speech, totally about her, and what she stands for…… I won’t go into how the dem/libs are total liars!!!

————-

RDT, those who claim to have ever been a Hill supporter never were if they’re now choosing to give it to McCain/Palin simply because of some false sense of womenhood solidarity and especially when these two women couldn’t share more different views on the biggest of female issues.

For McCain to pick Palin in the belief that now “all the girls will now come running” because they now have a “replacement” for Hillary is one of the most insulting political moves I’ve ever witnessed.

He diminishes the groundbreaking accomplishments of HRC becoming the first woman in America’s history to finally crack open (she didn’t simply crack it) the glass ceiling to make way for a woman to run as a contender from now on instead of a novelty, and basically he’s saying that women are stupid; that we will put our fundimental reasons for voting for Hillary aside in favor of throwing are weight behind him (McCain) because he’s now got a woman on the ticket, and sadly, there will be those who will allow themselves to be used by McCain/Palin proving that yeah, the only requirement needed to get their vote is two X chromosomes.

jpf

remember da truth @ 08/30/2008 at 10:16 am

Original JPF,

You’re right, but look at how easily manipulated people have been by Karl Rove for eight years, and it’s the same soccer moms who read the tabloids and believe whatever makes them feel good rather than use their brains.

These are the same women who themselves think one woman is the same as another, and a man will leave one woman he’s with for another simply because she’s pretty, or younger, or flirts with him, without ever thinking of WHY that man is with that woman.

We were with Hillary not just because of women’s issues, but because of economy issues, foreign policy issues, energy policy issues, etc. Each woman is as different as each man, and I really believe that yes, America CAN be that stupid.

I was proud to be American again after the Democratic convention. Someone comparing the fireworks to the Olympics in Beijing is why I say America is stupid. Apparently, they thought it was some sort of contest over who had the best show, instead of listening to the speeches and thinking about what was being said.

Anyone who paid any bit of attention for the last three months would know Hillary did NOT want the VP slot and wouldn’t have taken it. She did everything she could to get that message across, and to say, look, Obama is similar to me on the issues. It wasn’t about voting for me, it’s about voting for what’s best for the country. Bill Clinton told why he “loved” Joe Biden for the choice.

To pick a woman who sounds like a kindergarten teacher giving a speech about our beautiful children at a PTA meeting who has already been found to have flip-flopped on the bridge to nowhere (Sheryl, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about if you can’t even spell it), is under investigation, and has only ‘stood up to her party’ to be even MORE conservative is not the person to have in a position she herself wasn’t even sure entailed.

I can’t imagine this woman meeting with the Saudis, or European leaders. Can’t you just see her talking to Putin? She has “spunk” — oh good, she won’t cry or run away, but really, does she have the fortitude of a Kay Bailey Hutchison or Hillary Clinton to go toe-to-toe with world leaders? If she doesn’t know what the VP does, she probably doesn’t even know who the world’s leaders are!

This is simply not just black and white, there are gray issues as well. As a Democrat and a HRC supporter, I cannot and will not in good conscious vote for Obama. Never had faith in his empty sales. On the other hand, McCain by far has more experience but is in the wrong party. Admittingly, choosing Palin has sparked an immense curiousity. Will it be enough to pull that lever in November?

Byotch is not going to break the glass ceilig, she is going to put women’s rights back one hundred years!!!!! Obama-Biden 08. At lest Obama won’t trample the constitution he is a constitutional lawyer and has run a campaign like no other in the history of the United States….now that is alot of experience. He is a genius and that’s what we need in the white house someone who understands the issues, he gets the people of the United States and the world!!!!!!

I am falling in love with Gov. Sarah Palin. She has a very fascinating story. She has more experience in governance than Obama.

corrupeted @ 08/30/2008 at 10:47 am

First she was for the bridge to nowhere than she’s against it…flip flop….now she is under investigation for abuse of power…I wonder what else is she hiding under that beehive lol. Mccain couldn’t even let her stay on stage by herself, the body language was so awkard…I bet Rove’s people made him pick her It was an awkard blind date because he only met her once and spoke to her over the phone. LMAO!!!!! I don’t trust his judgement he seems a little out of it…plus he really wanted to pick Joe Liberman but he knew that the Rove people would trash him like they did Harriet Myers. I see Paris Hilton in this pick LMAO. She really got somewhere by being pretty.

I hate politics. He has made a good play though. I think he only picked a woman because he knew that would shake things up. I doubt very much if Hilliary was running against him he would of chosen a woman. This woman looks plastic and too perfect.
In the end although I would like to see Obama win, it may very well be McCain. I wish Hillary was still in the race. She has worked her @ ss off and deserves to be president.

It is so hard to let go of power and the republicans will do anything to keep their corrupted administration going. They have no idea what Country first means especially John Mccain. He hides under his POW status but he is has PTS I would hate someone like him having his hands on nuclear weapons…..we are all going to hell!!!

I love Sarah Palin, I will vote for McCain because of her. She will be a fantastic Vice President or President. She can do it. McCain/Palin 2008.

I am sick of Obama’s cheap talk no action. Go McCain/Palin 2008.

You’re americans are ridicolous. McShame is a ****…. joke. You’re idiots of the first category if you gonna vote an old guy that have picked another idiot (beauty queen and idiot!) anti-abortion, yes to the death penalty, no to the animals (she kills them and love it!!) and NO foreign experience.
YOU McCain supporters ARE ALL A ****…. JOKE AND DESERVE TO BE IN A COUNTRY FULL OF IDIOTS LIKE YOU (IGNORANT 100%) AND I HOPE THAT IF THAT MAN AND THAT SOMEBODY IS GONNA ELECTED YOU’RE COUNTRY IS GONNA BE HELL ON EARTH! BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OBAMA IS HOPE & CHANGE AND TALKS WITH HIS HEART, BUT THE IGNORANTS ARE TO DUMB TO UNDERSTAND THIS.

WELL FUC… YOU MCCAIN SUPPORTERS!

Loves it! After the spectacle that was the DNC the other night, I was starting to wonder if I should switch loyalties, no more, Obama is full of fairytale promises, everything to all men, you name it, he’ll make sure you have it.. SAD. McCain you did the right thing here, this woman has grit, she is feminine and strong, I am so fired up right now, Mr. McCain you’re getting a check from me today!!

It is beyond ridiculous that any supporter of Hillary Clinton would vote for McCain simply because he chose a woman as his VP running mate. If you care AT ALL for the principles for which Hillary stands, you should not vote for a woman whose platform is exactly the opposite. Clinton supporters, please, this is not rational thinking and you know it! Palin is anti-choice, supports creationist teaching in schools (under the label “intelligent design”) and is an NRA supporter. This is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of how vastly her political beliefs differ from that of Hillary’s. Please, don’t be reactionary! Remember why you support Hillary and don’t disavow Obama because you feel betrayed by the Democrats. Otherwise, you are just giving into superficial partisan politics that not only does a disservice to women (and women’s rights), but seriously underestimates the ability of American men and women to make intelligent and rational decisions about who we want to run our country.

Obama/Biden 08!

Palin was not chosen to get just the women’s votes. She was chosen to reenergize the Republican party and the way it went, she has succeeded. Donations came pouring in from people who were not so enthusiastic in opening their wallets.

She’s a fighter, she’s smart and she has that likeability factor. Just wait till she goes on the campaign road. She has more executive experience than the other 2 candidates from the opposite side. Her state borders both Canada and Russia. She has dealt with them firsthand and she has been CIC of the National Guards. F-15s are in Alaska constantly patrolling the borders. So she has had more foreign relations than they’ve ever had. Alaska is a whole different animal than all the other states. Don’t sell this woman short.

She also flies planes, shoots guns and races. A woman after my own heart!

Obama is an idiot for not picking Hillary Clinton. He will lose the election because of that.

Cindy better hang on I can see Johns new girlfriend lolo

McCain is out of touch @ 08/30/2008 at 1:21 pm

I pray to God every night McCain doesn’t get elected and now here is yet another reason.

This woman actually said that the VP spot is beneath her and she would only accept it if it best benefits Alaska first. What about the rest of the country? What about world issues? She is also a gun toting anti environmentalist.. who would rather shoot a polar bear and throw its skinned fur on her floor as a rug then allow them to be entered into the official endangered species list. (And they are endangered since the ice and the food is disappearing due to global warming.

And she profits directly from Alaska oil drilling personally through her husband. And it has already been proven that the oil in Alaska and off the coast is not enough to support us for even 5 years and it will take 30 years to even see any benefit at all from it.. what we will see though before any short lived benefit is the destruction of our tourism industry a possible loss in 700 billion a year to resorts and businesses along our shores and the pristine condition of the Alaska Preserves for no damn reason (the Valdez spill is still harming the waters and coastlines where the disaster happened).

Please people wake up and make smart educated decision on Nov 4th.. would you like to represented by someone who puts people of all walks of life and take home pay first. Someone who had the chance to take the quick buck path and instead worked for the rights of the poverty stricken.. people who had lost jobs? Someone who has respect for the constitution and wants equality for us all?

Or for an elitist who will continue to reward the rich(can’t even tell you how many homes he owns and that from an Arizonian.. I am watching my neighbors lose their houses left and right in his precious state and that man doesn’t know how many homes he owns.. one of them was sold recently for 3.5 million and the new owners have to look at the initials MC caved into the giant marble fireplace.. egotistical much McCain??) , the oil companies, those who profit from war, who will ruin our beaches, oceans, preserves without any benefit except lining his oil friends pockets with more untaxed money, and who will over turn Roe vs Wade and then leave it to the states instead.. meaning all you have to do is drive to another state who will preform it.. or go across the border to some back alley doctor(how does that stop abortion??).. sounds safe and healthy. Meanwhile he will continue to take away the programs and benefits of single mothers who their will be a lot more of. Not to mention not being able to secure our borders here in Arizona or protect these poor people from kidnapping and human trafficking here in Phoenix where he owns a 4 million dollar condo!!! Do you really think that if you make less than 500,000 dollars a year.. he will give a rats ass about you and the issues you care about?

McCain will be a disaster.. Obama may not be perfect.. but he is a way lesser evil and very well might get it back on track.. as a country, as an example to the world that power also requires diplomacy.

the real tita @ 08/30/2008 at 1:27 pm

#86: I would rather have her on the reins than Biden who has terminal foot in mouth disease and is a known plagiarist. He’s been wrong on so many of his votes and choices. Better her than him. She will not hesitate to surround herself with people who knows how to help her…unlike Mr. Big Ego who thinks he knows everything but has never been anything but second banana even with all his years in the Senate.

Hillary wouldn’t have run with Obama.. I doubt she would have said yes. Not because she doesn’t like him or think he is capable of being president.. but because the democrats need her in their back pocket if Obama doesn’t get elected.. then she is a clear winner for 2012..

Problem now is that if McCain is elected their may not be anything left to lead in 2012.. he will lead us into a path of destruction, war, aggression without negotiation that we will not return from.. the poor will be as poor as those in Ethiopia.. the rich will be as rich as those in Dubai. The middle class will vanish completely. We will have nothing left when he is done with us.

My family history I can trace back to the 1700′s.. and here in America we have a long tradition of serving our country.. including myself.. but if McCain is elected I am seriously considering taking my family and moving to Canada.. enough is enough.

Excited about election at last @ 08/30/2008 at 2:36 pm

Yeaaaaaaaa! The Glass Ceiling is about to be broken – Sara Palin is a terrific pick for VP of the US by either candidate. Yes, they can chose their running partner outside their party if they so choose. Sara, as i’ve googled her, shows great leadership and executive qualities and experience; as Governor of Alaska, she’s dealt with foreign policies with Russia and other countries regarding fishing waters for one, she’s the “Reformer” of Alaskan “good ole boy” politics, and considers herself to be a servant of the people who elected her….she’s tackled Big Oil and never backs off righting a wrong. She’s the new Lara Croft!! Palin the Terminator of graft in politics….way to go McCain. As a life long registered Democrat, i will be voting Republican this November 4th. The country’s needs go beyond party lines this election….i choose REFORM over CHANGE.

#240

What kind of Dem are you? Fiscal? Social? Palin is very conservative. If you’re a lifelong Dem chances are your issues don’t match up with hers. Apparently that’s fine because she’s a woman.

BTW, she said she knows Russia because it’s close to Alaska and that she doesn’t know what a VP does. Ummm, excellent choice. Like one of my favorite tv personalities said, she’s also near the north pole. She must know Santa as well.

Omg this is really scary! If McCain get’s elected to be President it’s bye bye for America. Please guys, because i’m powerless in this election please vote for Obama. It will be the best thing for your country. These Republicans don’t care about anything except war and getting rich. They only care about what benefits the rich also. I will so cry if McCain wins. Obama speaks sense. I love that guy. McCain and his little puppet ***** cannot win!! And to all the “Hillary supporters” who are now saying you will vote Republican i am kind of glad about that because you come across as stupid people who don’t have the ability to be loyal, just what the Republican party looks for and wants you to be so go ahead, **** up your country more than it already is. Personally, i can’t see how anyone would ever choose McCain over Obama it is so crystal clear who would make a more worthy President and that is Obama!

remember da truth, I’m sitting out the rest of this thread (and others along these lines) because it’s not worth wasting time debating with minds that believe that the Messiah-ette has arrived, and in one days time she’s been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt worthy of the accolades being heaped on her. The hypocrosy by some on here I’ve known since first coming to JJ’s is blowing my mind, and before I blow a gasket, it’s better to ease back and out.

241, you rock!!!!

Hahaha oh my ***** god can you seriously imagine President Palin?!?! Oh geez if that doesn’t scare the sh!t outta ya i don’t know what will!! I really hope McCain has fuked up his chances of becoming President by picking this young, inexperienced puppet. Haha she has nothing on Obama and Biden. neither does McCain the old, senile fool!

How f*cking dumb can some of you Republican supporters be. I like the way you all say “Obama makes empty promises”. Well gee, why don’t you just f*cking all get together and make a society of Mystic f*cking Megs. How can you know if his promises are empty when he’s not even President yet??!! I f*cking wish i could see into the future like you guys and grin wildly when Obama becomes the next President of America in november. I know you American’s have got a real bad reputation of being a nation full of war-loving dumbasses (thanks to your President George Bush who you guys voted in twice lol) but seriously we all know America is an admirable country and needs to be restored to it’s former glory. Only Obama can do that. Who the f*ck would be so extremely right-wing these days anyway??? The Republicans don’t do ****. I hate them all. President Palin lol. I still can’t get over it!!

What a looser! You can really see he doesn’t care about the people. He is using her. I hope many can see right through that…Vote OBAMA!!!

Remember the “ex-beauty contestant” who became a man and had a baby?! I’d say beauty contests are meaningless though I did notice how the “old loose cannon” and “Father whithered Time”, John McCain, was checking out her fanny while she was speaking. His affair with the woman which surfaced earlier this year but quickly got silenced is not behind him, yet!

Having voted for Senator Clinton and now Senator Obama, this ‘gun totin’ Annie Oakley (whose idea of femininity is to shoot Moose) is not a replacement for Senator Clinton and, hopefully, at some point in the near future Hillary Clinton, Geraldine Ferraro, and Debbie Wasserman will bring it on with this pawn of John McCain and the right-wing of the Republican Party who helped Bush-Cheney start the war.

We all must do everything possible to get Obama-Biden elected so Senator Clinton can become a Supreme Court Justice!

Feel sorry for her for having been used as a pawn? I don’t think so….she’s got bigger gonads than the ones John McCain lost while running in 2000 against his BFF, George W. Bush!

John McCain is an angry former POW who didn’t learn his lesson regarding war and is proving weekly to be less than stable psychologically. We’ve all seen the real “man behind the mask” in recent weeks and he does not deserve to be elected to the White House.

john ruckstaetter @ 08/30/2008 at 5:15 pm

Experience? Obama has 146 days in the senate. That’s it folks. Otherwise, he was just a state senator…not running a state. Get a clue folks. This obama noob is nothing as he says nothing, is nothing, then goes out and hires an old washington crony. Same ol party line politics. He had to try to cover up his experience. Bottom line now is, who do u want to look at for 8 more years: biden or palin? Choice is clear. The rest is”change”. Lmao at the commie libs.

She is a clear pawn being used by McCain to capture those undecided HRC supporters and undecided independents. People posting her claiming to be HRC supporters and now would vote for M/P are either trolls or ignorant people who were never ever die hard HRC supporters in the first place. But just wolf in sheep clothing. SP does not match with what HRC worked all her life for. There are different in values and issues. It seems you would only be an idiot to vote for M/P because there would be a woman in Washington. That shows hypocrisy flat out by you people that think that way of wanting to vote M/P.

He is using her a pawn also to get something and his motives now seem fishy. It leads the educated to think many things:

1. Is he going to use her for women votes and then if he somehow wins and gets in the WH, then create a “conspiracy” to get her step down and then bring in someone else?

2. What really is his message? He has not utlined sh*t about his policies and even if he does, it would resemble that of Bush because he is a warmonger and warmongers do not change their tactics at all.

Overall, for the voter with intelligence, we can see that this woman has no foreign policy or national security experience. Is she capable of sitting at the negotiation table with Putin, Ahmadinejad or another world leader? Hell NO. Many things come into play also. John McCain is a man who has a sickness that can return someday for worst. God forbid that he is the President and has to be out of the picture, do you know what that means? She is your President. Yes she would be and that would be a disgrace to the country that a woman with no Washington experience at all, is the President.

For a mother to have a 4 month old Down Syndrome child, she needs to be on hand to answer the call at 3 in the morning. Suppose there is a crisis in the world and she as VP gets the call at 3 am, do you think she can say no thanks i cannot come? She has to be there.

To all the disgruntled HRC people, learn facts before shouting. HRC said she did not want the #2 spot period. So that means that Obama did not snub her.

Biden is going to rip this Palin woman to shreds in the VP debate full on. He knows the game and how it is played. At least we know Obama has someone with the capacity to answer something. Plus look back at Bush. Do you think bush new everything to be President? Hell No. Cheney was his tutor on what to do to be a good President everyday. But the same ignorant voters reinstated him for a second term. Obama outlined his change terms and with it said that it would not be easy. He was never pompous to say off the bat that they would work from day one. He give you the idea to show he has a clear outline rather than that old rhetoric bald head war monger who talks of war, drill over and over again.

poster 250 you are an idiot. McCain says he wants to run for one term. So 2012 is it for him he says. Plus it has to be as he would be 76. As some people say, if he McLame gets into the WH, they are leaving the country. That is something that I might do if he does cause he wants war to remain and create disunity within the American people while focusing more on the external politics than internal. From Obama’s speech he said something that was of worth. That for America to get back its credibility as a world leader nation, it has to show the world that they are a world nation through having stable, unified internal nation and can gain respect as being see as a talker and walker. Bush failed this nation by focusing more external and forgetting to manage internally. With McCain that is what he wants to do again. Concentrate outside more than inside. So if you feel that he is your savior, pull the lever for him. But when the first two years are the same, don’t cry out because you’ll be a hypocritical idiot.

Original jpf @ 08/30/2008 at 5:45 pm

Just had to post this “of many to come of this I am certain.”

Fairbanks Daily News-Miner:

She has never publicly demonstrated the kind of interest, much less expertise, in federal issues and foreign affairs that should mark a candidate for the second-highest office in the land. Republicans rightfully have criticized the Democratic nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, for his lack of experience, but Palin is a neophyte in comparison; how will Republicans reconcile the criticism of Obama with the obligatory cheering for Palin?…Most people would acknowledge that, regardless of her charm and good intentions, Palin is not ready for the top job. McCain seems to have put his political interests ahead of the nation’s when he created the possibility that she might fill it. It’s clear that McCain picked Palin for reasons of image, not substance.

Anchorage Daily News:

“She’s not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? said [State Senate President Lyda Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla]. “Look at what she’s done to this state. What would she do to the nation?”

Another News-Miner Article:

Lately her reputation within the state has been bit by allegations of mixing political and family business, and by mistreating one of the state’s premier marine mammals. Palin’s catch-phrase of “openness and transparency” has been tarnished by revelations that staff members tried to have Palin’s former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper. Also, the governor of the only state with polar bears has adamantly opposed listing the animals as a threatened species, despite strong evidence that global warming has devastated their sea ice environment off Alaska’s coast. Dermot Cole, a longtime columnist for Alaska’s second largest newspaper, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, called McCain’s choice of Palin “reckless” and questioned her credentials. “Sarah Palin’s chief qualification for being elected governor was that she was not Frank Murkowski,” Cole said of her enormously unpopular predecessor, who lost favor with Alaskans in part because of unpopular budget cuts. “She was not elected because she was a conservative. She was not elected because of her grasp of issues or because of her track record as the mayor of Wasilla.”

WOW I’m absolutely baffled by some of these responses…those so called “Hillary supporters” now voting for McCain, should STOP lying. You never were a true Hillary supporter because Palin stands for everything that Hillary opposes.

I can’t believe people are actually willing to switch their vote simply because she’s a WOMAN?! How superficial, what happened to voting for the actual issues at hand? I guess McCain does think the public is dumb enough to fall for this and unfortunately I have to agree judging by some of the comments.

It’s soo frustrating to think that we have this great right to vote and some people are simply choosing candidates based on looks, gender, race etc. What’s the point? you might as well just stay at home cause your doing the country a disservice…

I don’t care who you vote for, but PLEASE people do your research and make an educated vote.

the real tita @ 08/30/2008 at 6:17 pm

If she’s as useless as you anit-Palin think she is, then you shouldn’t be worried. If your guys are as good as you say they are, then they have no problem, is there?

She was picked to reenergize the base…she’s done that. Vote who you like and let the other side vote theirs. This argument is useless if you’ve already made up your minds. Carping about the pick does not concern you since you are all already decided. Let the other side do what they like!

Let’s all remember, that we have the right to support and VOTE for who we feel like it! No need to insult others, geez, how immature to begin the name calling like a playground of elementary kids. Read your facts, support who YOU WANT, and everyone else if you don’t like it,,, well that’s AMERICA! it’s YOUR VOTING RIGHT!!!!

Interesting…however would she have been selected if she were a man?

it is kind of ridiculous how people assume that hilary supporters will automatically vote for mccain/palin just because of palin is a woman. we should be voting for the party’s IDEOLOGY not for a person’s RACE or GENDER.

This woman is going to defeat Obama. hehehe.

Palin is greater than Obama @ 08/30/2008 at 8:11 pm

Sarah Palin is much better than Obama. She is more prepared to tackle the oval office than Obama. She has executive experience while Obama has zilch.

Sarah is the most popular governor in America.

1 year of executive experience in Alaska (700,000 people)??? Alaska has less people than Austin, TX.

Who is Sarah Palin? Here’s some basic background:

* She was elected Alaska’s governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1
* Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
* She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
* Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
* She’s doesn’t think humans are the cause of climate change.5
* She’s solidly in line with John McCain’s “Big Oil first” energy policy. She’s pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won’t be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6
* How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7

This is information the American people need to see. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family.

We also asked Alaska MoveOn members what the rest of us should know about their governor. The response was striking. Here’s a sample:

She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AK

She is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She’s a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. —Christine B., Denali Park, AK

As an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. —Karen L., Anchorage, AK

Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AK

She’s vehemently anti-choice and doesn’t care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AK

I think she’s far too inexperienced to be in this position. I’m all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn’t done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on John McCain’s part- and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he’ll get our vote by putting “A Woman” in that position.—Jennifer M., Anchorage, AK

ok

Yesterday was John McCain’s 72nd birthday. If elected, he’d be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for “inexperience,” here’s who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.

Huh?

#261: well, jess if she’s everything you say she is then you have nothing to worry about anyhow. Why are you so concerned with her resume when you don’t intend to vote for her anyhow?

Obama supporters are scared even they called her this or that, but they know this woman will give Obama headache. She will teach Obama a lesson that is don’t ever ignore a woman’s power.

Any true Hillary supporters will not vote for McCain/Palin, so don’t fret. The people who say that they are now voting for him b/c he picked a woman weren’t issues people in the first place. It’s all about gender. They want a woman, any woman.

I’m offended that John McCain would actually think she could take over at the top spot should anything happen to him. It’s a very scary thought that our future could rest in the hands of someone who admits she has no interest in foreign policy and doesn’t pay attention to the Iraq War.

He won’t pick up votes from any intelligent people. She’s got alot of skeletons in her closet if you check around……besides the fact that she has noooooooo experience that would qualify her to be VP.

As a professional women, I am so disappointed to hear women say that they would betray ALL that Hilary Clinton has done by voting for Sarah Palin JUST because she is a women.

She is the COMPLETE opposite of Hilary Clinton. We all know, Hilary
was probably Obama’s first choice, but let’s be honest, she ran a
mudslinging campaign against him that became more personal, so what did you really think he would do? Sure, I would have loved to have Hillar, BUT she is not on the ticket. GET OVER IT.

If you like McCain/Palin because you support their platform, fine but if vote only because she is a women, well, you may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, because I guarantee you Sarah Palin DOES NOT REPRESENT most women I know and RESPECT.

-Regards,
Someone who will vote responsibly based on issues that will affect me and my family.

Amazing Sarah @ 08/30/2008 at 10:25 pm

Sarah Palin is an amazing mother. I am in tears reading her story about her baby having downs syndrome. What is so remarkable is that she chose to have her baby even though she knew before hand that the baby has already downs syndrome. She is such a strong woman and a remarkable mother. Every woman should be proud of her.

Sarah will become a great leader.

For all you people who are so happy that McCain chose Palin as his VP this is what your possible future VP had to say a month ago about the VP position:

Sarah Palin: What Exactly Does The VP Do Everyday?
In an interview just a month ago, she dissed the job, saying it didn’t seem “productive.”

In fact, she said she didn’t know what the vice president does.

Larry Kudlow of CNBC’s “Kudlow & Co.” asked her about the possibility of becoming McCain’s ticket mate.

Palin replied: “As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

I ask you this is this the person you want in the VP position, someone who doesnt know what the hell the VP does?!?!?! Yeah, way to go McCain!!!

Vicki verdane @ 08/31/2008 at 12:18 am

Wildflower509 “hit the nail on the head” (as Sarah would say) in post #9. Sarah Palin is a smart, tough reformer who fought back heroically against corruption and won, against all the odds. In doing so, she won over many people in Alaska to her side, just as she is starting to do now in the other 49 states. Sarah’s approval ratings in Alaska have hovered near or over the 90% mark…..she’s the most popular governor in America, with good reason. The evidence is there in her accomplishments…..she wasn’t afraid to take on Frank Murkowski, Ted Stevens, and others, even while many tried to force her to be muzzled. Take the time to get to know more about Sarah firsthand…..listen to what she says in her own words, not just what others say about her. Hopefully you’ll get to know a remarkable woman. Enjoy the ride. She’s for real.

To all of you ppl that are so happy that McCain chose Palin, this what your beloved Palin had to say a month ago about the VP position:

So I ask you do you REALLY think she is the right candidate for the VP position…I think NOT!!!!!

I wasn’t going to vote this November. Neither candidates impressed me. When John McCain was going announced his VP i was still not interested until i saw “Sarah Palin”. I asked myself who is she? she’s not on the short list media was naming. Then I read more on her. CNN interviewed a WSJ writer who has been covering and reporting Alaska for 10 years ….

What he said is, “he was blown away when heard Palin was chosen as the running mate” – I think the whole nation was, if you asked me. He then proceed to talk about Palin as being a very good Governor and a popular one. Charming, appealing and a no-nonsense woman. He continued on to say she stopped corruption in her own party. Stopped government spemding. Took on BP (?) the oil and energy company saying that those men in suits are one tough bullies that Palin single handedly made them fall to their knees , so to speak. Got the big oil corps to pay takes, and Palin took the money and gave it to the people in a form of a rebate worth $1,200!!!!! The WSJ journalist has nothing but good things to say about her. He was blown away. I think to be able to take on a Goliath we call Big Corporations and made them give back to the little people, that’s a true Heroine if you ask me. That’s an accomplishment to a “T”. I can’t say the same for the men AND woman who ever run for president. What’s Obama got on his resume, except Oprah’s boytoy , The Hollyweirdo Community’s p.r. and being HALF black? I’m sick of hearing Obama the black man, he’s HALF black with a white mother who he is still close to him. Let’s not forget that!!!!!!

This election has now piqued my interest again. I’m going to follow both teams all the way to debate. Then I will make my decision. Before I was one party, now i’m a swing voter.

.Im think “Amazing Sarah” #270 is a mental patient.

Vicki verdane @ 08/31/2008 at 12:38 am

Question: Did you read that interview transcript, or listen to Sarah directly? The jist and tone of the comments, for those of you who did not listen to Sarah’s own words directly, was NOT that she literally did not know the functions of a VP, but rather that she felt productive in her current role as reforming governor in Alaska, and was in no hurry to abandon all that for the VP, which often carries many ceremonial duties in addition to it’s more immediately practical funcions. By the way, Sarah has said she will continue to fullfill her duties as governor during the race. Her comments, taken in context, have her demurring talk of a VP offer, just like all VP contenders historically do, including, most recently, Joe Biden.

Vicki verdane @ 08/31/2008 at 12:45 am

For those of you who are wondering where Jess got his post from (that he felt inclined to post 3 times), it’s from Moveon.org, the liberal media lobbying site. Jess neglected to add the part at the bottom or attribute it’s authors, so I will do so here:

“Please pass this information along to your friends and family.
Thanks for all you do.
–Ilyse, Noah, Justin, Karin and the rest of the team”

When you read something, question your assumptions, and question their sources.

Mccain had the intelligence and respect to do at least one thing Obama failed to do, at least consider a woman for Vice President. Obama spent his time mocking clinton’s time as First Lady and her involvement in everything, he will never have my respect because he never gave us his, even supporting the silencing of millions of votes here in Florida. Mccain may not share all of my stances but I believe he says what he means, I don’t believe a single thing out of Obama’s mouth, I think my choice is pretty simple from there.

Christine @ 08/31/2008 at 1:46 am

Wow, she’s the most popular governer of the least populated state in America. That’s about what, 500,000 people she had to win over? Big accomplishment. If that’s the Republican definition of experience, then why wasn’t my city mayor considered in the running for John McCain’s second in command? Is it because he doesn’t have boobs?

America should know by now that experience, no matter how it is defined, means little if you don’t have the intelligence to use it to this country’s advantage. Hence George W, who has experience up the ying yang, but a brain the size of a penny.

Obama-Biden ’08!!!!!

christine @ 09/01/2008 at 7:05 pm

Well we might as well have Britney Spears in the White House of course if you can still call it that I guess she will probably make it a trailer park. Come on, is this woman someone you want to be president of the USA when the old **** keelsover dead at 73? She cant even stop her 17 year old daughter from having sex and getting pregnant, even though she has said she is against sex education in school and says it should be taught at home and abstinence is the way to go, I’m sure she could run the country. She has never been out of Alaska for heavens sake have you all gone crazy?? Voting for her because she is a women? Does that mean if she had a ***** she would be more or less stupid? Oh no I forgot thats McCain job when he can remember to do it. I like what she said when asked if she was ready for the job of VP,” If someone tells me what to do.”

If this picks up Clinton voters they are stupid morons. Palin and Clinto have NOTHING in common but a ******.

This Clinton supporter will NOT vote for Mccain and Palin because I care more about our country than if a female is a Prez or VP. WAKE UP WOMEN! If you support Clinton, you should NEVER be supporting McCain he is AGAINST everything Hillary stands for. To support Clinton then go McCain is one of the most ignorant things one could do.

When our country was born we based our values, morals and ethics on solid Christian beliefs. We tried, as a nation, to continue to run our country with these guidelines to make our country free and trustworthy. Throughout the years, we have grown further and further away from the deep moral convictions we once had. We have even chosen to eliminate the helpless life of an unborn child because it could cause an inconvenience to us or someone else. We no longer have to account for our actions and strive to be so politically correct that the morals in this country has rapidly declined. So it is with our leadership. Nancy, speaker of the house, thinks their vacation is more important than saving us from the oil crisis. The Democrats continue to hinder us from becoming self sufficient but continues to complain, blaming everything on the previous President. The United States is more deeply in debt now than ever and Congress continues to pass legislation that hides useless spending. We have lost our respect in the world and our people are left wondering if it will ever get any better.
Now, we do have hope on the horizon. Our President nomination, John McCain is an honorable man that has a lifetime of years vested in Washington. He has seen it all by now and certainly has an idea of what to do to bring us that hope and change. Sure some say he is old well, did anyone see his mother? She is 96 years old and looks pretty good. Does that tell you anything?
He has shown incredible judgement when he chose Sara Palin for his VP. She is intelligent, witty, strong, willing to help the cause and she is ready to Take on Washington. Finally, perhaps we have a voice in Washington. If you read her bios that are out there, she is a people’s leader. That is what we need. Clean out the ones who continue to think about themselves, their pocketbooks and their ajendas. She is an absolute breath of fresh air and a fighter.
I was on the fense with the McCain ticket but after hearing Sara Palin’s past record and having stood up after being criticised for so long, she made my decision easier.
I will be on board for this ticket. It is not about the man, or the party, it is about those good morals, strong ethical policies and the love of God and Country. It is about putting the people first and having someone listen to our cries for help. Yes, oh yes, I will be on board for this ticket.

OBAMANA sUCKS. @ 09/05/2008 at 5:54 pm

This is a good Choice for MacCain. Palin got more votes for Governer in Alaska then Biden got for running for president. Obama chose joe biden and he is the most left wing somone can get.. ( he will Take away ALL the Firearms..)

Thank God for Sarah!!! I’m a middle to lower class female who can’t wait to vote for McCain and Sarah..All the women I talk to love her!! You forget their are lots of women who are pro-life. I wouldn’t vote for Hillary because of her veiws but now I get to vote for a women who believes the same way I do. GO SARAH!!!

A person can sure tell the internet is swelled with the young(and Dumb).Gov. palin is just what this country needs. The left is so afraid of her, they are putting her down for the same things they have supported for the last forty years. To watch them fall all over themselves over the last week has been priceless.

PLEASE VOTE OMABA/BIDEN!!!

PALIN WAS PICKED TO GET THE MALE VOTE. (SHE IS HOT)
BUT NOT VERY SMART. HILLARY IS TWICE THE WOMAN SARA IS.
AND THE FACT THAT PALIN WAS CHOSEN TO GIVE THE LADIES A “GUILT” TRIP IF WE DON’T VOTE FOR HER IS VERY WRONG!!!

I JUST DON’T TRUST MC CAIN AND HIS VP LADY-
THAT IS JUST MORE OF THE SAME!!!!!!!
POR FAVOR DE VOTAR POR OBAMA Y BIDEN
NECESITAMOS UN CAMBIO. MAS DINERO Y BETTER HEALTH INS.

ES IMPORTANTE NO DEJARNOS LLEVAR POR EL HECHO DE QUE PALIN ES MUJER. PREFIERO MIL VECES MAS A HILLARY, LAS DECICIONES QUE TOMO SU ESPOSO FUERON LAS QUE LLEVARON A NUESTRO PAIS AL EXITO. Y OBAMA PUEDE HACER LO MISMO!!!!!

I think she is terrific!
Obama scares the heck out of me….. He is a DISASTER!

Former democrat for the McCain Palin ticket

If Mccain And Sarah Palin will win , the United States’s future will go to a good direction. We will have a good future, also. Yes, John Mccain doesn’t give good speech in front of million of people, but at least he meant what he says. He is a true hero, and he also belive in patriotism, not like Obama. People should look at John Mccain and Sarah Palin closely.

This country will ave a goood future if John Mccain and Sarah palin will win. They are more experiece, have more respect in this country and respect in patriotism than Borack Obama and his running mate. People should think about it carefully. Also, Sarah palin is very talented, and she has done so many useful and important things, so we should respect and support her as a vice president of the United States.

remember everyone and especially to all Latino who live in this country that John Mccain has plan about the amnesty. Borack Obama doesn’t mention anything about it. If Borack Obama would win, we don’t know what’s going to happen in this country and to our economy and also to us. He can hardly use the word change becuase he is so busy bad mouthing the bush administration instead of focusing on the big issue that we are facing right now. Everyone should think about it more clearly.

McCain is a leftover war relic that needs to go sit down and take Palin with him. Alaska is not even part of the continental United states and most people dont even think of it as a state. McCain antics as a naval avaitor should be investivated before he got shot down in Vietnam. he was know as a hothead nothing close to a maverick”"”.

Wow. This is pathetic. Sarah Palin is clearly unqualified and unethical. If the Governor of our state expensed the things Palin has expensed I would be so angry.

Persuade everybode to vote for McCain – Palin
Donot change government in time of financial crisis
The Republican goverrnment acted promtly in the current crisis
Obama means uncertainty and danger
Obamas friends and family history is Unamerican
Obana wants to give Irak to the terrorist at a time of overall progress
This will encourage the enemies of the USA to get bolder
Nobody will respect the USA
Americans of European origin might leave the U.S.
African countries are not ready for democracy
Appeal to America to vote Republican
All the best.
