Brad & Angelina Open HIV/AIDS Clinic in Ethiopia

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to help kids around the world, helping those who have been affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation just donated $2 million to the Global Health Committee to plant a help center in Ethiopia, which will be named after their daughter Zahara (she was adopted from Ethiopia).

The center will be modeled after Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia (named after their oldest son), where children receive medical, education and social services.

“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement to People.

Added Pitt, “It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission. The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable.”

Wouldn’t it be nice if some celebrites actually used their fortunes help out people in their OWN country… No offense to Africa, or any other country.. but god damn, lets help our OWN cause in america , just a little.

They make people not to feel enough good about themselves with all these great jobs they are doing. God bless your heart. So nice of them toward Zee,she will be a great humanitarian just like her parents.

  • Halli

    That’s fantastic!

  • Lynda

Maybe Z will turn out to be a spoilt brat and not give a toss about Africa.
She may want to turn her back on that type of thing……….just because she was born there doesn’t mean she might want to help out

  • Happy

    Love the dynamic duo

  • angel

    lynda,get a life,good job brad and angie

  • SRN

@lynda — at least they’re giving it the old college try. They can’t force Zahara to do anything, just raise her with good humanitarian values and hope that she gives back to the world as they’ve tried to do.

  • lululul

JEEEEEZ we get it! OKEY you guys are nice people and like to help out, But don’t push it … Instead of creating a new one’s why can’t they just donate to those who already exist?? Its becomme a bit cheasy now…

  • Hey!

hey dumba** They are giving you space. They are doing it in less fortunate countries,so you will learn to do something for your own country. oh what a dumb comment. Brad Pitt did a great job in NOLA and gave 5 million to charity there, and it was from their charity foundation. Angelina is donating to bunch of cancer’s centers in U.S and they are building school in NOLA. Did you even check your fact before posting your comment? You can’t handle them helping people in Africa while your/my country is responsible for all these sh*ts going on in Africa. Go and donate to one charity cause at least in your own country, the one that needs all.

Awww…that is great news. Not so long ago, Zahara was malnourished and about to die. Brad and Angelina adopted her and saved her life. Then now, this. I am happy that Brad and Angelina are doing this for Zahara. As she grows, she will start to ask question about Ethiopia. This is a perfect way for her to reconnect with her birth place, get a sense of home/connection to the Motherland and feel proud to be an African girl. As the project grows, she will see the difference it is making to her people and BE PROUD for contributing something to her NATIVE COUNTRY. I like the fact that Brad and Angelina are doing this while Zahara is still young. It sure will help when she get into the phase where most adopted kids are dealing with identity issues.

How lucky is Zahara to have such loving parents!!

Angie and Brad can do whatever the hell they want with their money and they can help whatever country they want.

Zahara and her brothers and sisters are being raised with good values and the kids will continue to do the greatness that their parents are doing around the world.

  • bdj

Thanks for the news and information about the Jolie-Pitt Foundation to help build an Aids/TB clinic in Ethiopia. Children deserve help and medicine for curable diseases no matter what country they are in. It is nice that the Jolie-Pitts are building Children’s Centers in the birthplace of their own children. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have also donated to various organizations in America as well as international.

  • tia

they are amazing ppl. ppl can talk all the trash they want about them but at the end of the day, i have sooo much respect and admiration for them!

  • You/Me

    That is awesome!
Brad says he “hopes” Zahara wants to run the clinic when she comes of age. I think that is great too because it means they are giving her a choice, not trying to run her life for her.

  • Hey!

Lynda! Do you know the meaning of hope? It means, she is not force to do it but it will be great if she will be able to do it. They are not going to stop their support for this center if Zee says she doesn’t like this center.

Children generally form their values from example.

Brad and Angelina are not “do as I say not as I do” people. they are doting parents who are showing their children what is honorable through ACTIONS as well as words.

  • erlyn

They are such beautiful people! On the inside, as well as the out! Bless the Jolie Pitt family! :)

    thanks jared for posting this.
    They walk the talk !!!!!

OMG, Brangelina f**kin ROCKS!!! Love them and their whole family!! It’s so wonderful to see their committment being realized — they are incredibly inspiring.

..and this is for nysro (#3 post), excuse me if I doubt your sincerity for “people in this country,” especially when you’re OBVIOUSLY so ignorant of all that Brad & Angelina HAVE DONE in this country, see ‘Make It Right Foundation,’ building and rebuilding for Katrina victims in New Orleans (something your own Bush gov never did, nd won’t do) see Native American Programs that Angelina has supported and funded for the last 6 years, see donations to our National Education Association in 2006-7, and the most recent 1 million dollar donation to programs for American children of the U.S. military affected by the current ongoing Iraq ‘war.’

If you can find time to b*tch about these incredibly compassionate and giving people – influential humanitarians both, remember to find time to b*tch about the people that don’t do or give jacksh*t which would be MOST people in the public eye and most people in Hollywood. It’s just your guilty jealous conscience that can’t allow you to give this family their props.

As for their wish for Zahara — when they say ‘take responsibility,’ for this particular charitable – I’m sure they mean it in the exact same way that THEY THEMSELVES are responsible for several different charitable projects while STILL having careers in different professions. It’s no different than hoping your kid grows up and selects charitable endeavors that you might support ad give time to.

I work with Habitat for Humanity and I will encourage children of mine to do the same thing, much as Brad Pitt is wishing for Zahara. However, it’s not the job or ‘career,’ I go to every day. HELLO??

That doesn’t mean, I would want my children to choose that as a ‘career,’ that just means that’s the charity I would hope, having seen my example and seen why I think it’s important, might select that charity to give their time and energy to.

Some of you people sound seriously slow.

Because there are dumb Fanistons reading this thread.

Thanks, Jared for posting it — Loonifers or no.

Ok, I really don’t like this couple, only because I just don’t like either one of them. Sorry. But I have to congratulate them for this venture, as it is truly generous and wonderful for the children so affected by the AIDS epidemic in Africa. It’s a beautiful gesture.

You are teaching your children the value of awareness and compassion for those less fortunate.

When you give your children a global perspective they realize that there are tragedies happening needlessly every day.

I have long said, there are tragedies and there are disappointments. Most people do not know the difference.

Tragedy is a child suffering a long and painful death from a treatable disease or from starvation.

Disappointment is when you can’t get the latest iphone.

…damn jared!…it’s hard as algebra to leave a comment in here…not that I have much to say…just sayin though…

nysro, it would be a good idea to check out what work Brad did in New Orleans. That’s just to sweet. Such a blessed family.

  • Tash

Awesome for them, and all those they will help be treated!

  • alexanderina

Awesome news and that is one of the reasons why I adore, admire and respect this couple. They are so giving, caring, loving and do amazing things in this world. I am sure the people of Ethiopia are so greatful for this clinic. WTG Brad and Angie, so proud of you both.

    Thanks Jared

  • trish.

it doesnt matter where they’re helping.
The good thing is that they are doing it. They dont have to but they are.

and i doubt her kids will turn out like the celebrity babies 20 years ago. atleast i hope not. they should be appreciative of the fact that Angelina jolie adopted them to get them away from their countries which probably are facing a lot of issues.

And even if they sold their kids picture to get millions. that’s okay, because it is going to kids in africa.

and people in africa need it way more than we do. So relax.

    Great photo op.

  • bobo

you know, I used to hate Angelina Jolie because she is so damn beautiful, that WH*RE! but I see that her real beauty comes from inside, she really cares and she’s really passionate, that’s beautiful, now I’m an ugly girl (no need to sugar coat things) but if I can contribute something to the world like she does, to the best of my ability than it won’t matter how ugly I am, well to the people that matter anyways…

  • Sonia
