Mandy Moore rushes to visit DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) at the Joseph M. Still Burn Centre in Augusta, Georgia on Monday.
As reported earlier, DJ AM is burned on 12% of his body. According to a federal safety official, the plane crash involving former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM was possibly due to a blown tire.
“The crew reacted to a sound that was consistent with a tire blowout,” National Transportation Safety Board member Debbie Hersman said after listening to a cockpit voice recording of the Friday night crash.

When the doctor did his press conference on Saturday, he was specifically asked what percent of their bodies were burned and he declined to answer.
JJ, unless the hospital has issued another statement, I’d encourage your readers to keep in mind that the “12%” figure is speculation and unconfirmed.
I wonder if she is there for free press OR if she legitimately cares about him…

I agree with #4, I wonder why Mandy is there. For sure DJ AM should have loved ones around… but didn’t Mandy only date DJ AM for like 2 months?

Mandy Moore is not one of the celebrities who loves to be in the press. From what I understand, she tries her best to remain out of the spot light. Just because they didn’t have a long relationship does not mean that she does not care for him. Has anyone ever considered that SOME people are actually able to remain friends after a breakup??

Lindsey G, very well put. I think ppl forgot that Mandy & AM were still hanging out long after they broke up. They just stayed out of the media.
This girl is always hard to look at. I’ll never understand how she got and sort of keeps a career in Hollywood, she’s straight up homely and terribly dull.
12%? That’s not really as bad as I was thinking. I read he was in a drug induced coma and getting skin grafts, so I assumed it was much worse. Good for him, recovery time should be much quicker.

in burn patients 1% of the body is considered the size of an average persons palm. i would consider 12% pretty bad. in fact, i would consider any 3rd or 4th degree burn very bad. also, despite the fact that less of his body has been burned than many people originally thought does not mean that his or mr. barker’s recovery will be any quicker. burn victims are very susceptible to infections as the skin has been left exposed. their recovery will be very painful, unpleasant, and likely not quick.
The news media said a witness saw them rip off their burning clothes, and still trying to get back to the plane to rescue others….I’m sure they were in shock, ( would have to be ), and probably did not know the extent of their injuries………….AGREE NUMBER # 14… 12% coverage is a large and painful amount of burned skin……….A friend of mine was burned when his lawnmower caught fire through spilled gasoline, and exploded onto him…….He ALSO, had 12% to 15% massive burns, most 3rd degree, and had a painful recovery on his hands, face and legs, with multiple skin crafts……….I absolutely cannot imagine the pain he endured during scrubbing and debrasion…I wish these guys the best of luck, and hope they have a speedy recovery, and can still cope with the loss of their dear friends, that they tried to rescue!!
You are all right that burn patients have to endure UNBELIEVABLE pain. The debriding process of pulling dead tissue off of the burned areas is just excruciating. My heart goes out to both of these men and they need our prayers!!
As far as Mandy, I think it’s wonderful that she has not shied away from going to visit. Shows what a good friend she is, and that she is supportive of him while he’s recuperating. It’s a long haul, believe me. And I thought I’d heard DJ AM’s burns are on his face and hands. That’s really tough!!!
Mandy has a smile on her face in one of these pictures. I mean if I were visting a friend that almost died in a burning crash, i would not even get myself to crack a smile.. Everyone has their reasons for visting, hope Mandy is honesltly there for a a FRIEND and not a photo op.
Well, Mandy’s publicist confirms to People Magazine that she will be visiting DJ AM. I read that this morning. Why do you have to tell People magazine you will be visiting?
