Brad Pitt To Build 90 Homes in New Orleans

A fedora-sporting Brad Pitt leaves his New Orleans home in Louisiana on Tuesday.

He announced at a charity reception yesterday that his Make It Right Foundation has now raised enough money to build 90 homes in Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans. They also unveiled a donation from the American Idol Foundation, according to Us Weekly.

After the reception, Brad was seen dining with board members at one of Emeril’s restaurants, Delmonico’s.

Melanie is in reality a gay gossip queen, jared has the IP. I think we should notify e! that they will be boycotted by 10 million strong. In his spare time when he isn’t assaulting the jolie pitts and defecating on the walls out of sheer hate and obsession for them, he’s hating on Jen Garner 24/7 for being with Affleck. If you notice Ted C is only vicious with the beautiful girls of hunky studly guys that he fanatasizes about. It’s because he wants to be them, getting impregnated all the time. He hates b*tches, because they get to f*ck his favs which he’d really love to rape, or force them to rape him. Yes, he’s that pathetic and hate inspired, unrequited love and boners have driven him insane.

Oh anna, for God’s sake will you get the hell over it? You sound like a frustrated old bat. He tried to build a home with that self-centered excuse for a woman he married and it didn’t work out. He got sick and tired of being trapped in a loveless marriage and bailed. Wouldn’t you? Especially if your partner couldn’t be bothered giving you even one child to link the two of you together? He’s always been into building homes. He’s built himself a home with his soul mate and their six beautiful, vibrant children. Maybe the X will get it right next time and act like a wife instead of a dead weight. Stranger things have happened.

    _________________________________

Ike, I think you’re forgetting Brad Pitt wasn’t elected to anything. He can’t do it all. What, do you want him to shut down his MIR project and move on to Texas?

HELLO?? He’s like, you know, an ACTOR.

That means, all of his friggin’ MILLIONS are HIS, and HIS ALONE — and whoever he chooses to give it to. Which could be the weed man, the dermatologist, and house renovations, if he was living the same life he did with Jen Maniston.

That means, he could spend it on draping Angelina’s naked body in diamonds and gold, or buy an island for he and his family in the South Pacific – and he wouldn’t have to answer for a gahdamm’d thing. I think you’re CONFUSED.

You need to take your post #28, and e-mail it to your Congressman, Senator, and President, then ask them why THEY aren’t doing sh*t! Why THEY are letting an actor do their job for them.

YOU have probably spent your entire adult life, giving your government 40% of your paycheck, for just this VERY thing – to aid fellow citizens who are victims of natural disasters that decimate whole states and regions…..yet here you are, a citizen LUCKY enough to BY CHANCE have a fellow American, an actor, be gracious and giving enough to NOT think of only himself, and his family (when like YOU, he could CHOOSE to be just as useless and at home on the PC just attacking people that will never know it) but instead chooses to help..and YET, YOU are giving him an additional grocery list of sh*t he can fix and spend his time, energy and money on??? Are you seriously missing a frontal lobe??

Or do you really think, we need to be beholden to actors and celebrities to save us??!!! WTF??

If so, why don’t you plan to elect Brad Pitt for President in 2012 – otherwise, you moaning about what he’s not doing, is really REALLY INSANE, kind of like you moaning about what Al Pacino is NOT doing, or what Meryl Streep is NOT doing or Laura Linney is NOT doing.

Since when has SAG (Screen Actors Guild), replaced Congress and the Senate, and your President??

What in F*CK is your problem?

The Envelope continues their Jolie bashing:

‘Changeling’ and Angelina Jolie: Awards are not won on paper

I have all the respect in the world for my colleague Tom O’Neil, but I strongly disagree with his glowing assessment of Angelina Jolie’s performance in/awards prospects for “Changeling,” the new Clint Eastwood film that he and I both saw at the same New York Film Festival press/industry screening last Thursday.

Tom is 100% correct that, on paper, Jolie’s character Christine Collins fits the bill of—to paraphrase Humphrey Bogart in “The Maltese Falcon”—the, uh, stuff Oscar-dreams are made of.

Start the checklist: real person … single mom … tireless fighter for her child … victim of the system who courageously takes on the system … mental illness (well, alleged) … multiple scenes with screams and tears … central focus of nearly every scene … in a period piece … for one of the most universally-respected, academy-approved directors … and the list goes on.

Alas, awards are won not on paper, but on the screen, and in my analysis what’s on the screen is lacking. But don’t take my word for it.

Although Tom concluded that the response of the audience at the screening we attended was “huzzahs galore,” I didn’t feel that was the case, and it certainly doesn’t reconcile with the reactions of these critics/pundits in the mainstream media and blogosphere:

That’s what saying. It pisses me off cuz if anything Pitt gets benefit from tabloids.

Voters see him as a great father, victim who is stuck with a crazy person in relationship.

Not a single one questions that he has many kids or adoption. Angelina is the one who gets all the negatives and of course ruins her career.

Pitt will be promoting himself to win an oscar and angelina gets screwed, so ******* i n g unfair.

Angelina has an Oscar, 3 GGs, and 2 SAG’s.

She is not wasting her time worrying about another award.

If Angelina won an Oscar how would it help her career? It surely has not helped Hall,. Reese or Julia Roberts career. Angelina already has her choice of movies. I agree with bdj. These people who write Oscar/Movie blogs use Angelina’s name to get hits.

    Update from EPCC

EPCC at the CGI Annual Meeting
CGI 2008 logoOne year ago, the Education Partnership for Children in Conflict was launched at the Clinton Global Initiative with the goal of funding new education projects for children in conflict, post conflict, refugee and emergency situations. EPCC started with eighteen commitments reaching the world’s most vulnerable children from Iraq to Columbia to Northern Uganda to Afghanistan to Darfur.

From September 24-26th, at this year’s Clinton Global Initiative, our partners will share with us the progress they’ve made and many will pledge to do even more. The momentum from last year has led to new partnerships and commitments that will be announced at the Annual Meeting and aim to educate children affected by some of the worst misfortunes due to conflict.

As we gather together in New York City, relief efforts will be running at full tilt in Haiti to provide immediate assistance to its citizens devastated by the recent storms. More than 150,000 people have been left homeless and 800,000 people are in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Furthermore, in a country where children already face substantial barriers to education, the hurricanes that have hit Haiti over the past few weeks have created even greater obstacles to schooling. Approximately 500,000 children attending 1,000 schools throughout the country (particularly in the most affected areas) have been identified as those most in need of educational assistance.

President Clinton will call upon CGI Members to come together to not only help Haiti recover from the recent hurricanes, but to build it back stronger and better than ever before. You can help to “Build Back Better” by contributing to EPCC partners working in Haiti to be a key part of making that happen

Three years after Hurricane Katrina, the children of New Orleans are still recovering. The struggling school system was devastated by the storm. Most school buildings were destroyed or damaged. Students, faculty and administrators were scattered across the country. Months of living as virtual refugees ended any chance of a normal school life. The physical and emotional effects of coping with this disaster are still present. Extra help is needed to make sure these kids can make the most of themselves through education.

    Changeling Says:

I Am Changeling! This Guy Plays Devil to Angelina

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the paparazzi were in full blitzkrieg blast outside the Ziegfeld Theatre for the premiere centerpiece of the New York Film Festival, Changeling. Director Clint Eastwood, tall and ever-elegant in a dark suit and blue-printed tie, posed with his film’s star, Angelina Jolie—glam and sultry, and apparently back to pre-twins shape in a black Versace dress. Brad Pitt was beside her, and when they posed together the wall of photographers’ flashbulbs lit up the sky. But further down the line it was a different story.

Jason Butler Harner, who plays the role of Gordon Stewart Northcott, infamous serial killer of the late 1920s in Los Angeles, was taking his first major red-carpet stroll. He had asked a good friend, actress Sarah Paulson (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), to accompany him, and noticed that the photographers appeared more interested in taking her picture than his (a quick perusal of Getty and WireImage shows he was right). A couple of tabloid reporters asked him who he was, and the others asked what he was doing in the movie. They all wanted to know what Angelina was really like. (Occasionally, they’d ask about what it was like working with Clint.) He was having a hard time coming up with new superlatives. He had a hard time answering anything, really, as he still hadn’t actually seen the movie. Once inside, the ushers at the Ziegfeld didn’t believe him when he said he was in the film, and once he convinced them he had to kick out seat crashers before settling in row X. But then Clint Eastwood got up to introduce the film and said that this cast—which features tons of stellar supporting actors including John Malkovich, Denis O’Hare, Amy Ryan and Michael Kelly—was comprised of some of the most talented actors working today. As Mr. Eastwood listed his talent, he included Mr. Harner’s name. Ms. Paulson squeezed his arm. “That’s you.”

About 16 hours later, over mimosas and an organic omelet in his Upper West Side neighborhood, the lanky, hazel-eyed 6-foot-2 Mr. Harner, who turns 38 this week, was still shaking his head in disbelief. He was out celebrating till 4:30 a.m., came home and watched the first half of Saturday Night Live, and woke up wondering if the previous 48 hours had actually happened. His jaw ached from nervous clenching in the darkened movie theater. Mr. Harner is a 15-year theater veteran, starring on and off Broadway—among his credits are Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia, Hedda Gabler (for which he won an Obie award), The Glass Menagerie at the Kennedy Center, The Paris Letter, and The Cherry Orchard opposite Annette Bening and Alfred Molina—but Changeling is Mr. Harner’s first major film role, and could possibly be a life-changing one. Since the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, he has been living in a state of anxiety, setting his Google alert for reviews and then turning it off it because it was getting to be just too much.

“I read some mean stuff about myself on some blog,” Mr. Harner said. “Having not seen the film, I didn’t have my own opinion. It sort of got to my biggest fears: like, oh, ****. I’m about to be publicly humiliated. And then you sort of have to deal with the fact that maybe you were really bad in this film.” It turns out that Mr. Harner had nothing to worry about. His portrayal of Northcott is a complicated, unnerving and electrifying performance. In Changeling he is skittish, moon-faced and empty-eyed, alternating between little-boy-pathetic and terrifying; he’s able to throw the audience off balance. Toward the end of the film, in one of its most intense scenes, he faces off with Angelina Jolie and the two spark off of each other in a pas de deux of crazy emotional unleashing. After the premiere, he had to deal with people (maybe) pretending to be scared to shake his hand.

    Changeling Says:

Following the press and industry screening the Thursday before the premiere, Clint Eastwood answered a handful of questions at a press conference. One of them was about where and how he had found Mr. Harner. Mr. Eastwood described seeing a tape of Mr. Harner sent in from New York, and of his reading being so spectacular he basically called off the search then and there.

“Clint said that?” Mr. Harner asked. He smiled delightedly, friendly and down-to-earth, with the perfect diction of someone who has spent a good chunk of time onstage. He remembered the audition for casting director Ellen Chenoweth. “I prepared for it, but to be really honest, you fight so hard to even have these auditions, and as much as you want to hit it out of the park … Well, I won’t say I’m cynical. I’d say I’m pragmatic. You see these juicy roles, and 9 times out of 10, they’ll go to a much more established actor. It’s the nature of the business. It was such an amazing part. So I decided I’d use my 15 minutes to show what I would do with it.” A couple of months later, he was walking through Soho when he got the call.

He was also told that Amy Ryan, one of his best friends, had been cast, and when he called her, he remembers her telling him, “Just stop for a moment and take it in. You just got cast in a Clint Eastwood movie.”

IT WAS A LONG road to here. Mr. Harner grew up in Elmira, N.Y., before relocating to Alexandria, Va. His parents split up when he was 6, after his mother left her marriage to marry his stepfather (who passed away in 2001). Mr. Harner lived with his father (who also remarried, divorced, and eventually came out of the closet) till he was in the sixth grade, before moving back in with his mother. “I have been very lucky with both my parents,” Mr. Harner is careful to say. “But I was a sensitive kid. A funny kid, and a perceptive one. There was a lot of time spent alone.” Or, being tortured by an older brother and three older stepbrothers: “I have been hung off a 24-story building by my ankles, I had my toothbrush shoved up their ass and then I had to brush my teeth with it. I was put in a dryer. I was peed on. I was left out in the rain. I can’t begin to tell you about how many noogies, wedgies, and why-are-you-hitting-yourself’s I went through.

“No blame on anyone,” he continued, “but I processed the divorce like, O.K., everyone is so caught up in their own ****, no one is going to take care of me so I’m going to take care of myself. That’s how you interpret it. There’s great things about that and there are some horrors, which one still finds themselves unraveling in their 30s. … Like, oh, I’m turning 38 and I’m single and have no children. Wonder what that’s about?” As a high-school student, Mr. Harner was 5-foot-6 and 175 pounds. “They called me the egg man. … I was round. I was heavy and depressed. It was awful. It was high school. I remember a teacher told me she was going to cast me as Conrad in Ordinary People but she said she was scared I’d actually kill myself.”

Mr. Harner applied to a bunch of colleges, but forgot to include things, like an essay, and found himself wait-listed or rejected everywhere but at Virginia Commonwealth University. He attended school, he grew 8 inches and he started to enjoy being onstage. After college and an apprenticeship at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, he moved to New York City and endeavored to get as much theater work as he could. In the meantime, he held odd jobs at the Hilton Hotel as a desk clerk, and for a time booked Spirit Cruise reservations. After about a year and a half, a friend suggested he apply to the acting masters program at N.Y.U. More than 10 years after graduating, he has two roommates and still owes $79,000 in graduate school loans.

“People think I have money now, which is funny,” he said. He’s done small parts in The Good Shepherd, Law & Order (all three of ’em) and HBO’s John Adams. “Even other actors, who should know better, say things to me like, ‘Oh, you’re having a good year.’ It’s like, hey, you were on a TV series for two years … do you have any money, ************?”

THOUGH HIS PART in Changeling was a grim one, at times requiring him to wield an axe and menace children (“We shot this scene on Halloween. I had blood all over my face, and I told the kids, ‘You’ll never have a better Halloween than this one’”), the 10-week shoot with Mr. Eastwood was as gratifying as one might expect. “He offers these pearls of wisdom, about trusting yourself, and getting out of your own way,” Mr. Harner said (who, in addition to other talents, can do a hilarious impression of his director). “The thing that’s so strange [about film] is that you have to surrender so much. In theater you collaborate for four or five weeks and then it’s your nightly relationship with the audience. I was lucky that I had this incredible Zen master at the head of it. Like, yeah, of course I’ll trust you.”

  91. 91
    Changeling Says:

After being cast in Changeling, Mr. Harner got booked as another scary guy, a guest-starring baddie role on the pilot for Fringe, J. J. Abrams’ latest series. But he’d like to move away from creepy. “What happens is, people are like, ‘Oh, hey, you played that creepy guy.’ So they want me to play a serial killer in another movie. And you don’t want to be the serial killer guy, and they’re like, ‘But nooo, this guy kills women.’ And you’re like, ‘But he’s still a serial killer!’” He said he’d ideally like to do something funny next. He confessed to a love of romantic comedies (“I won’t be the guy but I could be the best friend, right?”) and he fantasizes about appearing on 30 Rock.

Oh yeah, and about that über-famous co-star of his. “She’s kind. She’s funny. As an actress she’s extremely well prepared, talented, and very, very smart. You think about what age she is and it’s incredible: her work, her children, her humanitarianism … and she’s just so incredibly beautiful.” After getting off the red carpet on Saturday, Ms. Jolie told Mr. Harner she had been asked about capital punishment. “I told her I got asked about what I had gotten her for a baby gift. She was like, ‘I’m sooo sorry.’ I was like, what on earth are you sorry for?”

Brad began this program what 1 1/2 years ago or shorter. And now they have 90 homes in the works. The Government had over 3 years and there are still people displaced. He did not have to do anything. He cared enough and did what Americans all over the country could and do. He saw a need and got the best people together and got results. That to me is an example of an American…Enough said on that topic

I know the haters love to say that Brad changes to fit the woman he is with. Not true. This man has built his brand for 20+ years. He has become a much bigger star than Gwenny or Jennifer. He demands attention on his own.. It has nothing to do with women, or he would have become a has been without them. Not the case. I know that many of you want to be negative for the sake of negativity. Nothing else. You have nothing to truly base your hatred so you grasp at straws and dig up unfounded lies to justify that hate. If he were any other celeb doing the same thing you would sing his praises. But, because he had a marriage that did not work, and found happiness with Angelina Jolie, he is a pariah. I chose to see the way people live their lives, not the stories in a magazine designed to print the worst in order to sell it. If every magazine printed the truth about Brad/Angie they would go out of business..Why… The lies sell, and the gullible buy the lie, and plant them then eat the poison fruit.

Character is built from change in our lives and the choices we make. Brad has great Character. The women he has had relationships with find it hard to let him go because he is a good man. Well respected in an industry that is mostly fluff. Respected by his peers. We on line who like to blog base our opinions on small glimpses into his and Angie’s lives. I choose to look around the crap and see the true picture. It is clear to me.

They are making a difference in the lives of so many people. Those people are now able to move forward and live a better life. What could be wrong with that? Brad is one man making a make in NOLA. Hopefully what is successful there can be implemented in other places. There are other Celebs out there. Tom, Will, and others, call on them to take on the work that needs to be done in other places. He is doing NOLA. Now it seems he is responsible for the lack of help in other places too. Gosh this man is not the Almighty… He is ONE man helping in ONE place… instead of doing a little in several places, he can help in this place then others can see the success and do it some place else.

What are you who are on line criticizing doing to help… NOT much I dare to say.

One problem, as I see it, is that some psuedo fans are very unhappy with Brad’s major role in Angelina’s life. They are miserable to see that she and Brad are a complete unit, and that both of them support the other in whatever their interests or projects happen to be.

Angelina is no longer a lone woman with a child against the world, she has a partner in Brad who will be part of her her life now and forever. There are bonds existing between Angelina and Brad that will never be broken. Angelina made the decision in 2005 that Brad was the man for her and that he would be the father of her children. She knew what to expect, she is very much aware of the world and how it operates. She herself has said that Brad and the kids are her sanctuary.

Angelina wants to be with Brad, and Brad wants to be with Angelina, that is evident to all in the fact that they have not been apart except for tiny minute time periods since 2005. They have both done what ever has been necessary to make all the accomodations in both their personal and professional lives to be together.

A prime example of that is that they fly from Berlin to NYC for Angelina’s movie, and then they go on to NOLA for Brad’s MIR project, always together. They roll as a group, all together, since 2005. Every tale as to them splitting and living separately has been proven to be just a lie. Where one Jolie-Pitt is found, so will be the others, and that includes Brad.

You all hiding behind this false award concern need to be for real and remove the masks.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie inspire Jamie Oliver to adopt

Jamie Oliver has admitted he has been inspired to consider adopting a child, after seeing the “loving family environment” created by Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

The celebrity chef has spoken of his wish to have a son and said he would be prepared to adopt to give his daughters Poppy, six, and Daisy, five, a brother.

Mr Oliver, 33, said: “I live at home with three girls and I need a bit of testosterone.

“If I can’t produce a boy I will have to adopt one. I would consider it.

“We have two beautiful, healthy girls and we cherish them. But I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be great to have a boy.”

Mr Oliver said he and wife Jools, 34, admire their A-list friends Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for their “humbling” decision to adopt.

The pair have three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as three biological children, including newborn twins Knox, and Vivienne, and daughter Shiloh.

The couples have met before, and Mr Oliver cooked for Mr Pitt on a visit to England some years ago.

Mr Oliver said: “Adoption is such a selfless act and they have a lovely family environment. It’s humbling and beautiful to see.

“Jools would like to have another child but there are so many vulnerable orphans out there. Jools and I need to sit down and have a very serious conversation about it.”

She has herself said, she could donate clothes to the poor but instead donates sewing machines and opens a training center to allow women to learn to sew.. this will give them a lifetime of employment.

Angelina visited Chad last year and Newsweek captured those moments.. She truly brought attention to Darfur much before other cinestars jumped on the bandwagon.

This is why the troll rant was so out of place. If not for Brad being on tabloids etc he should have been nominated for Fight Club, Snatch and Babel. But critics, like the ones writing about Angelina today, use to say he would not get nominated because he was too handsome, that he was on too many magazine/tab covers about his love life and because he was too big a celebrity. It would be nice for Brad and Angelina to get a Oscar nomination but I would not hold my breath.

Funny how he is such a blank slate. He seems to always take on his other half’s personality. What an empty man!

Anna if he is such an empty man, what does that make you? What have you ever given back to the society. It is usually the empty vessels that makes the most noise. At least he is doing something good with his life, trying to better other peoples’ lives. That is to be commended. Idiots like you should learn a thing or two from him and get off your backside and do something worthwhile for your community instead of letting jelousy eat you up. It is nice to be inspired by your other half because it means you are humble. There are people who go through life experience and still don’t learn anything good but only evil. Evil consumes them and they are eaten up with envy, bitterness, meaness, criticism and judging others. When they die they die a lonely and sad death and go straight to hell where they receive their own judgement – eternal fire for their poor soul. I hope you are getting my point.

    OFF TOPIC: Response to Schlumberger

    Schlumberger @ 10/07/2008 at 4:28 am

Let me bring you this to read. Like you, I also boldfaced part of the article.
    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/11670_Page2.html
The Tax Policy Center and the Barack Obama campaign used some sleight of hand this week in Politico. To quote Eric Tolder of the TPC, “Most small-business people, like most everyone else, are not really high-income.” While this is true, it completely and totally misses the point.
Let’s start with the definition of a “small business.” Most will tell you that small-business income constitutes income derived from sole proprietorships, partnerships and Subchapter S corporations.
So what do the data say?
-
-
The Obama campaign maintains that the number of small-business owners is what’s important. Economists know what matters is the tax rate that’s applied to the bulk of small-business income. Make no mistake about it: Obama’s plan to raise taxes on households making more than $250,000 will raise taxes on most small-business profits in America.
    -
-
What would a world look like where two-thirds of all small-business income would be taxed at a 50 percent rate? The economic law that “taxing something more and getting less of it” would apply. Fewer Americans would be interested in opening or expanding small businesses. Tax evasion and legal tax avoidance would spike, as tax shelters would once again become a booming industry. Since small businesses create a majority of jobs in America, Main Street closing up shop will have a direct impact on the family budget, as well. Plants and equipment will go unused. Despite the misguided opinions of static scorers in Washington, federal tax revenues will likely decline as the economy staggers into a full-on recession

    Schlumberger @ 10/07/2008 at 5:03 am

lylian @ 10/07/2008 at 4:13 am As good as how mccain is going to be able to afford 4.2 trillion dollars in tax cuts and take aggressive actions in Iraq and everywhere else he sees a threat and needs to take preemptive action

==================================

    1) 4.2 trillion? Are you being careless in your numbers?
    2) Where is your supporting evidence when you said “……and everywhere else he sees a threat and needs preemptive action”?
Are you projecting what he’s gonna do and write it as FACT?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Hi Schlumberger,

I looked carefully at the article in the link you gave me and re read the complete article which is available in pdf form from the Tax Policy Centre here:

    http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/url.cfm?ID=411749

On the issue of the 4.2 trillion:

The 4.2 Trillion estimate was found in the TPC analysis:

“Although both candidates have at times stressed fiscal responsibility, their specific non-health tax proposals would reduce tax revenues by an estimated $4.2 trillion (McCain) and $2.9 trillion (Obama) over the next 10 years.”

TPC provides additional analysis of how they came to that 4.2 trillion dollar conclusion. I will not discuss some other analysis that TPC did based on certain assumptions about mccain’s tax plan but you can read it in page 4 of TPC’s pdf format which would increase the reduction in tax revenues even more under the Mccain plan.

On the issue of tax increases in both the Mccain Plan and the Obama Plan.

    (a) I understand the concerns of businesses that they shouldn’t be taxed to death. But I would like to point out that, during the Clinton years, despite having 36% and 39.6% top marginal tax rates, the US economy grew at a good rate.

    http://www.forbes.com/business/2004/07/20/cx_da_0720presidentstable.html?partner=msnbc%20target=_forbes

    (b) So, will the small business that Mr Norquist mention actually stop growing just because under Obama’s tax plan, their top marginal tax rates revert back to the Clinton days?

Historical evidence would suggest the answer is NO. Small and medium size business continued to grow even with top marginal income tax rates of 36 and 39.6% just as they did during the clinton years.

    OFF TOPIC: Response to Schlumberger

On the issue of the pre-emptive strike.

OK, OK, I was being a bit sarcastic. But here is the Bush doctrine as agreed to by Palin.

“GIBSON: The Bush doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense, that we have the right to a preemptive strike against any other country that we think is going to attack us. Do you agree with that?
PALIN: I agree that a president’s job, when they swear in their oath to uphold our Constitution, their top priority is to defend the United States of America.
I know that John McCain will do that and I, as his vice president, families we are blessed with that vote of the American people and are elected to serve and are sworn in on January 20, that will be our top priority is to defend the American people.”

But I don’t think mccain will go and bomb Iran willy nilly. It’s just, where will he draw the line? I’m gonna sound like Jennifer Aniston when I say – the world just isn’t sure and I’m not being sarcastic here.

    >>>>>>

    On healthcare:

I read the mccain proposal vs the obama proposal. I also checked out some analysis. Here is what the Urban Institute has to say about the mccain healthcare proposal:

    http://www.urban.org/UploadedPDF/health_proposal_summaries.pdf

“In brief, McCain’s proposal would dramatically change how many Americans obtain health insurance coverage, make coverage less accessible for those with health problems, have a high budget cost, but have little effect on the number uninsured. “

More detailed analysis on Mccains healthcare plan is found here:

    http://www.urban.org/publications/411755.html

Does obama’s healthcare plan have problems? Sure. The problems are outlined here including your point – how will he pay for this?

    http://www.urban.org/publications/411754.html

But the issue to me is, obama’s healthcare plan is incremental. It doesn’t change the underlying premise that has worked for a long time in American healthcare – the employer provides. Mccain’s proposal, by changing the method of taxing healthcare benefits, could change all that and we aren’t not sure what we will get.

Personally, I like the uncertainty thrown up by Mccain’s plan right now.
