OlderBeyonce To Play Wonder Woman?
Beyonce has expressed her Amazonian ambitions, telling the LA Times that she wants to be the first black Wonder Woman. In fact, she’s already in talks with DC Comics and Warner Bros!
She tells the paper, “I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?”
Beyonce continues, “After doing these roles that were so emotional (Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records) I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero.’ Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”
As for costuming, Beyonce wants to stick to the original: “I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it’d be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.”
If America’s ready for a black President, maybe a black Wonder Woman isn’t so far off.

Beyonce I saw your acting…so I say NO. Don’t ruin Wonder Woman. I have a felling if she did get the roll, she would play that character she played in the Austin Power’s movie she was in.

This is just dumb, I am all for casting different ethnicities in non-traditional roles, but this one makes absolutely no sense. A black, latino or oriental superman or batman could work, but Wonder Womans’ entire identity and story is wrapped up in her Greek origins. The actress that plays wonder woman has to be Greek, or at least Greek enough looking.

But really! I agree with #16. Wonder Woman is an ICON in the DC Comics and always will be…AS A GREEK PRINCESS!! It would be almost unethical to do something like that. That’s like making a new Superman movie and casting Chris Brown as Clark Kent! No disrespect to African Americans. They deserve to be involved in everything as much as the rest of us are..
Think about it…if there was a movie about Mr. T…would it be ok to cast someone like Brad Pitt to play him?
