Tina Fey - "Vanity Fair" January 2009

Tina Fey -

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Tina Fey proudly takes the January 2009 cover of Vanity Fair. She tells the mag how a tweezer, cream rinse, a diet, and a Teutonic will transformed a mousy brain into a brainy glamour-puss. Here are some snippets:

On her physical flaws: “I don’t like my feet. I’m not crazy about anybody’s feet. But I have flat feet.”

On her Republican parents: “When I was 18 and registering to vote, my mom’s only instruction was ‘You just go in and pull the big Republican lever.’ That’s my welcome to adulthood. She’s like, ‘No, don’t even read it. Just pull the Republican lever.’”

LOL, VF ditched JA for Tina Fey. That’s why she had to settle for the other mag. Didn’t even get the whole cover, had to share it with AJ. ;)
Good choice for the monthe, VF.

This cover is very clever. Continuation of what Yina Fey had been doing during the election; poking fun at Palin. Way to go Vanity Fair. Love Tina and now have more respect for VF for showcasing her talents.

So after 200 years of American presidencies, 45 years after the CIvil rights bill, on a century or so after slavery is abolished America gets its first president of color who will be sworn in on January 2009 and Vanity Fair decides to put an SNL comedienne on its cover instead of the President-elect? Nice going Vanity Fair. How your priorities are in the right place. I just canceled my subscription. I’ll keep Time and Newsweek.

Ever think that they might be waiting until he’s sworn in?? Instead they’ve put a female with brains and balls on the cover. Yeah, they’re really slumming it.

    this is scary

Wow, I didn’t even know that Tina Fey had a scar, but now I feel pretty bad about it after the NY Daily News mentioned from where it came. Apparently Fey was the victim of a violent knife slashing incident at the age of five, which left a very faint mark on her left cheek. Her husband Jeff Richmond hinted that it “makes Fey more lovely,” according to Vanity Fair, and then dished up the background story:

“It was in, like, the front yard of her house, and somebody who just came up, and she just thought somebody marked her with a pen.

That scar was fascinating to me. This is somebody who, no matter what it was, has gone through something. And I think it really informs the way she thinks about her life. When you have that kind of thing happen to you, that makes you scared of certain things, that makes you frightened of different things, your comedy comes out in a different kind of way, and it also makes you feel for people.”

Right – a woman with balls, brains, in a little bikini thing: yeah very progressive. Why not Hillary on the cover then? Nah, not cute enough for a VF cover – not enough t&a. Give me a break. He is getting sworn in on the 20th of January. It is the new year. It would make sense to have him on the January cover. Time and Newsweek and every single international paper did it. But VF can’t? Nothing like a girl in a tutu standing in front of the American flag – who happens to be a comedienne – to show how much we are not slumming it and to show progress. Awesome. Got it. Thanks.

Umm, and their cover says: “America has a new President” so in fact they are trying to make it a political isue – that is my point and instead they put a half naked girl on the cover behind the American flag instead of putting the face of a man who made history in America. And so when they put Bobby Kennedy on the cover discussing global warming – is that celebrity and not social issues? Listen, they had Robert Kennedy as a cover – and he’s been dead for years – they had the Knut Bear – a bear on the cover! Certainly, certainly they could have the President-elect of the most advanced nation in the free world who just made history – on their cover instead of the lead of 30 Rock. Seriously.

Tina is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Pretty face, great body, outstandingly perfect legs, dresses very nice, and has mucho brains to boot. The perfect woman

They put a barely clad hot female on their cover!?!?! oh, wow, Vanity Fair just single handedly turned women’s rights back to pre-1920 status! Alice Paul is spinning in her grave! Right, but it’s not the 20s and we can all understand that sex sells. I mean, we all realize this, right? it’s not the greatest thing to have to accept as a society but its true and we might as well work around it because its not going anywhere…sex sells, period. Moving on, thank you! Don’t like the cover? dont buy it, cancel your suscription, never read it again. Everyone else will continue to operate on the assumption that we can change the world, but we cant change people.sex sells. Isn’t this country great? I love it here! :)

I’m thrilled to see Tina on the cover of VF, but I think she’s looked better, photo-wise. I don’t know what they did to her armpits areas (assuming THEY did something), but they appear very concave, and that is a shame, because I think she deserves better.
