Mariah Carey - "Right To Dream" Music Video

Mariah Carey -

Mariah Carey shows off her acting skills in her new music video for “Right To Dream”, the first single from the soundtrack of Tennessee.

The song was written by Mariah and country legend Willie Nelson.

Mariah recently spoke of the song and her character Krystal, an aspiring singer. She said, “I was very close to the story and in particular my character’s struggle, so it made it easier for me as a writer. I just began channeling Krystal’s pain and hope. The song is basically a three-act play and chronicles the evolution of Krystal… She begins by telling us where she started, like she lays in bed and wonders where she left herself. A lot of people go through that sort of thing. It’s kind of about empowerment.”

absolutely beautiful simple heartywrencing i feel her pain some of this hits close to home for her i nlove mariah as a singer but she rocks as a songwriiter shes my hero ive been with her through the rain and she shows me and other that we have a right to dream.

  • ILoveVelvetGoldmine

She is a cool and genuine lady. I find most of her music uplifting. This is too.

  • Nicole

I wish she showed more “soul” like this, its a beautiful song, and the movie looks surprisingly good, dosent even look like herself.

But plese Mariah, enough with the stupid songs like “Touch My Body”, you are way to talented for s**t like that!

  • X

i love the whole theme and song, very touching as always, mariah knows how to make ppl relate to her songs, but i really didn’t understand the video. what the hell is that! she’d better stick to singing because it’s the best thing she can do..no one can deny the fact tht she’s gifted but damn, she’s such an awful actress!!!!!! and i am her biggest fan !

  • Natrum

Now we know why Mariah always wear her har on half of her face because pulled back she looks like Alvin, one of the chipmunks. Such an annoying song and such a laughable “acting” skill display :)

  • delanti

@ Natrum – You are, of course, totally entitled to your comments on the video’s quality and sound. In fact, I agree that she’s definitely not the best actress, and I’m a die-hard MC fan. However, the nasty ones directed towards her physical beauty are totally unnecessary and just plain rude. Remember that famous line from Bambi?

I’m glad to see Mariah is making a solid comeback – she looks and sounds absolutely FABULOUS!

  • charisma

    Love Mariah, hate the song.

  • april

people are always gonna say bad things about how people look mariajh is beautiful inside as well as outside. when are people gonna learn how to respect women no matter their size color or looks.

  • cain

…this song is pointless…acoustic style never fits her well.

  • Meeeeeee

I normally like Mariah’s music, I’m not feelin that one. It was very boring.

  • M. Ali Chaudry

    My Dear Alia,

  • REDBALLER

I LOVE THE SONG! IF you’re really a fan of MC, you’d also love the song and the movie as well.. I HATE THOSE PEOPLE WHO COMMENTED THAT THEY DIDNT LIKE THE SONG! ERRR! THEY JUST DONT APPRECIATE THE REAL MESSAGE AND THE MUSIC…

MARIAH COMPOSED THAT, YOU KNOW.. THAT’S WHY YOU’VE GOT TO LOVE IT!
