    Anna Says:

I’m surprised an African-American is doing a dairy milk ad as most are lactose intolerant. What a lot of people don’t know is that drinking and eating dairy products can not only lead to physical discomfort but it can also cause depression.

He is a nice looking young boy. Young many I should say…

SHOWBIZ –> Your I.G.N.O.R.A.N.T and low class T.R.A.S.H for using that word! Shame on you! Can’t believe people today still behave and think like you! Makes me sick.

anna… WTF? Who told you most african americans are lactose intolerant?!!! How ignorant are you?!

  11. 11
    Anna Says:

The human race is mostly lactose and tolerant…. ?

Maybe you should review your own academic accomplishments before questioning those of others.

  12. 12
    Anna Says:

Shenan, you are the ignorant one in this situation.

  13. 13
    shenanyginz Says:

no… ignorance is saying that an african american can’t advertise milk because most african americans maybe lactose intolerant. That’s IGNORANCE… Out of all my african american friends and family I know only one who is lactose intolerant… We may show symptoms because we don’t eat as much dairy as other races but almost every black person I know enjoys pizza, drinks more than a glass of milk a day, eat yogurt and so on… your comments have no basis in truth. Rephrasing your words maybe and taking it out of the context of chris brown advertising Milk maybe I’ll give your research a second thought. But what u just said was absolutely ignorant and has no relevance to Chris Brown advertising for milk. MIND YOU he is not the only african american to do so…

This kid is so retardedly ugly. I don’t understand how anyone can be even remotely attracted to him.
    Explain kids.
    TO #11 (ANNA):
That was rather obtuse, my love. Let’s not make unintelligent accusations and start generalizing here.
BTW, you at odds with SHENAN over something so trivial just demonstrates how much more “ignorant” you are.
Now, bring to a standstill this nonsense argument, people!

  15. 15
    li Says:

LuckyL -> Im not a dummy its because Showbiz wrote the N word but the post got deleted! I was NOT referring to the lactose intolerant comment.
Jared must have deleted the comment… thankfully.

  16. 16
    Anna Says:

lalalove…. I didn’t make any accusations… For someone saying how “retardedly ugly” Chris Brown is, I don’t see why you’re lecturing anyone. I did not get at “odds” with sheenan. She was the one that addressed me first so I simply responded. But please, continue to stick your nose in other people’s business and add whatever commentary you deem necessary.

The only part of my original comment that I would not put if I were to do it again was that I am surprised. Surprised is the wrong word. The point was to get across that more focus should be put on the relation between food allergies and mental health. It could have made a really strong impact if Chris Brown were promoting Soy Milk.

I think a lot of people are getting irked by the fact that I said the majority of African-Americans are lactose intolerant. It’s silly to get upset about that just as it would be silly to get upset if I said African-Americans have more melanin in their skin than caucasions. The majority of Asian-Americans are lactose intolerant. As I think someone was TRYING to point out, most of the human race has some degree of lactose intolerance. All the more reason to look more closely into the correlation I mentioned earlier.

  17. 17
    shenanyginz Says:

You’re wrong, most of African Americans are not lactose intolerant. That is actually a myth. HOWEVER, they may show symptoms of lactose intolerance because they have less dairy in their diets. I am an African American. I eat dairy products but at times when I haven’t had it in a while, as with a lot of other races, I do show lactose intolerant SYMPTOMS. I think that the context in which you’re placing your argument is completely uncalled for. For me an African American doing a Got Milk ad only encourages African Americans to make an effort to include more dairy in their diets. But the fact that your bringing it up here, is irrelevant and yes ignorant. You’re basically suggesting that Chris Brown shouldn’t advertise milk because he is black and most blacks are lactose intolerant. You may not see it but its wrong on many levels. Not only is your information wrong, but your statement is VERY ignorant. And YES it would be also if this were an Asian doing a Got Milk ad. If you’re information is right, still what you said was ignorant because the fact is not ALL African Americans are lactose intolerant. So that doesn’t mean Chris Brown can’t advertise for Got Milk… I’m not even mad anymore just surprised that you don’t understand the stupidity of the statement you just made…

and lalalove is right. You’re that much more ignorant because its yet to click why your statement was ignorant. Man up… Admit it and move on…

and my name is shenanyginz guys.. not shenan… sorry but it kinda irks me when people abbreviate it lol

  18. 18
    shenanyginz Says:

You’re also suggesting that Chris Brown is exclusively advertising for African Americans… That’s just as ignorant. This advertisement is for all… as far as I know all races and ages like chris brown (I on the other hand … not too crazy about the boy but can’t hate on him he’s pretty talented.) And all races will possibly feel encouraged to drink milk because of Chris Brown, Laila Ali, Beyonce, all the other black people who have done Got Milk ads AS WELL as the Asians, Hispanics, Caucasians and so forth…

so there. How can you argue with that.

  19. 19
    Nestle Says:

Actually, more Asians, particularly the Chinese and Japanese than Black people in America, are lactose intolerate. There are people in some African countries where milk is a daily important part of their diet. That is why soy is so prevalent in Asian countries. However, Whey protein is a much better food than soy.

    TaylorSwiftfan Says:

I see both what Anna and Shenan are saying.

Anna is coming from a research perspective and Shenan from a personal one.

I think Anna is really just trying to get her point across about food allergies causing depression or something and how it is really understudied. She is right in saying that most black people are lactose intolerant. I don’t think she believes that Chris should not be doing the ad but instead just bringing up the point of why not give her cause their some airtime too. Chris Brown would be the perfect one to get it off the ground but maybe I’m giving her too much credit.

Shenan is obviously black and taking offense to Anna’s point which is also understandable. It doesn’t even matter what her race is except that she is using personal stories to drive her own point across. I think they can both agree that black people have more trouble processing lactate. Shenan says that more milk needs to be introduced into the diet then (slowly I’m guessing) to help the body adjust. He himself talks about showing symptoms.

People are very sensitive abour race. Anna may have brilliant points about the food/depression thing but this is really not the place to try and spark intellectual discussion especially when you phrase things in the way you did. Shenan I believe you contradict yourself because you realize that Anna information and research could very well be accurate but the way she’s trying to get it across is offensive and inaccurate in some ways so I think that makes you a little ignorant as well for ignoring the fact that she might have a message of truth.

Frankly I’m sick of seeing the word ignorant thrown around so much because we are ALL guilty of it. Shenan and Anna since you are the two major players in the game here, should think about working together. Anna has a message that she beleives strongly is worth looking into (I think it’s kind of interesting too…) and Shenan he seems to be more apt at getting the message across in ways that are more politically correct. Stop trying to prove who is more stupid or ignorant or whatever. You were both able to recognize that each person has something valid to say so why not focus on that instead.

  21. 21
    TaylorSwiftfan Says:

oops Shenaniganz, sorry I screwed up your gender and shortened your name in that post.

  22. 22
    TaylorSwiftfan Says:

You know I hate to preach but sometimes we get so focused on our own ideas that we fail to recognize those of otheres. It is very easy for all to judge and condemn while on the internet but there are faces and minds behind the words.

    Chris Brown is freaking adorable!

    The end ;)

  23. 23
    shenanyginz Says:

TaylorSwiftfan I do appreciate you taking both arguments into consieration. I think the point I’m really trying to make here, whether the fact is right or wrong about African Americans or any other race’s level of lactose intolerance is the fact that Anna is implying that african americans shouldn’t advertise milk is very dumb indeed that is the honest truth. And my argument is not that personal… sure I’m black but whether I’m black or not doesn’t matter. I know to an extent that when saying African Americans are mostly lactose intolerant is a misconception because we have less dairy in our diets doesn’t make us lactose intolerant. And Further, to imply that Chris Brown as well as the other African Americans who have advertised for Got Milk? (ie. Rihanna, Laila Ali, Beyonce and Tina Knowles etc) are advertising exclusively for African Americans is absurd. To be honest, I would give your argument much more thought outside the context of a black person doing a Got Milk ad? And to be honest, if it were any other race, I would argue the same thing…

I still think what Anna said was incredibly ignorant and mainly because of the context in which she stated it. I’m sorry. Thats the truth.

  24. 24
    Nestle Says:

And to add to my point… why shouldn’t he advertise for them? Michelle Kwan did, despite there being more Asian being lactose-intolerant.

  25. 25
    TaylorSwiftfan Says:

Well I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Her main point has nothing to do with Chris Brown at all other than that he would be a good face to help advertise foodallergies/depression. But since she is not responding, I guess arguing on her behalf is futile.

It is unfortunate because I think that we can all recognize she might have something worthwhile to say but it’s laced with a lot of inaccuracies that are completely unnecessary to mention in the first place. This is not the right forum for that sort of discussion.

Each side is arguing down very different points. One side over her ignorance in the context of her message, and the other side saying it doesn’t matter, this is the real point I’m trying to get across.

    Am I making sense?
