Kate Hudson - "Elle" February 2009

Kate Hudson -

Kate Hudson looks yummy in yellow Dior on the February 2009 cover of Elle.

In the featured article, we learn that Jennifer Meyer, the jewelry designer and wife of Tobey Maguire, has known Kate since childhood (her dad was the agent of Kate‘s mom, Goldie Hawn). In high school, Jennifer recalls Kate getting sent home for wearing her skirts too short. Scandalous!

Kate also sounds off on the paparazzi enraging her. “They’ve become an entity to themselves,” she says. “But eventually they’ll implode. They’re creating a house of cards that will inevitably fall. These are not nice people. When you’re taking your child to school, and they’re trying to get on school property to get a picture, it literally makes you want to just smack them.”

During the interview, the 29-year-old actress gets defensive at the suggestion that she lacks range. She says, “I could be in an interview and people would keep going, ‘So why do you always do romantic comedies?’ Do I want to do darker roles? Of course. It has to be the right thing, though. I’m not just going to, like, make a movie that’s, Oh, she’s a whore, prostitute, and heroin addict.”

Kate‘s next rom-com, Bride Wars, costars Anne Hathaway and opens next Friday, January 9. Watch the trailer at BrideWars.com.

It always cracks me up when dlisters whine about paparazzi. How often do pics of her kid get taken? Never.

She’s not a D-lister and her kid and others are attacked by the paparazzi, #3. How could you say such awful things?

She it totally overrated and if she wasn’t Goldie’s kid she probably wouldn’t have a career.

Hos, Pros, and druggies are not the only “dark roles” out there. Do something supernatural, dramatic, etc. Maybe you do lack range…

She does look great, though I long for the day when these celebutards finally realise that the only reason they’re doing an Elle cover is because of the media storm whipped up by the paparazzi. She’s hardly Kate Winslet or Meryl Streep now, is she?!!

anything is possible if you got celebrity parents and a step dad who happens to be 80′s action hero!

Oh please, she lives for the publicity. She hasn’t had a decent role since Almost Famous and is known more for her tab life and being Goldie’s daughter than anything. Who is she kidding, in a couple more years she’ll be begging to have her pic taken, her career is not exactly on fire and she’s already 29, getting old by Hollywood standards. She needs to stop her whining and prove that she got into acting for more than just being on the front the of a mag or tab, she has shown no range so far and many of her peers (including the talented Anne Hathoway) are much better actresses.

I don’t buy her in sweet romantic roles.

It’s obvious she’s an entitled rich kid who isn’t a very nice person. Sleeps around quite a bit too.

I’d rather see her play a cold *****, more believable.

To 17: and the person you picked your pseudo from illustrates so well how a celebrity parent can open doors for you.

While the paparazzi is the price you pay for fame, disrupting traffic and targeting innocent children should not be something the paparazzi does, #16.

What does not being as talented as Kate Winslet or Meryl Streep have to do with anything?

How is any of that obvious, #20? You don’t know her!

Never understood when People had her as ‘the most beautiful”…No way. She’s very CUTE. period. A cute girl, no raving beauty. without makeup in photo’s she’s a regular looking girl. I also never got the hype on her.

looks like they enhanced her boobs. she’s as flat as a board.

I was just going to write the same thing, #25! Some men have more cleavage than her.

She’s cute and all, but I think “Almost Famous” is as good as she’ll get. That title’s a bit ironic now, actually.

And really, does it matter if a parent helped their child? In the end, if the child’s no good, she won’t be successful. Sure, she might become a celebrity, but a respected, award-winning actress? Nah.
