Lindsay Lohan - 'Interview Magazine' February 2009

Here’s a sneak peek of Lindsay Lohan‘s February 2009 feature for Interview Magazine. Here’s what the 22-year-old girlfriend of Samantha Ronson said:

On the public’s misconception of her: “I wanted to be a movie star [growing up]. But movie stars are not what they used to be. When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were women and men who were in these great films that we still look at now. But I don’t think there are too many films coming out these days that we’re going to look at in the future and say, ‘This is one of the great ones.’ Like, what is the great film that I will tell my children about? I’m still going to tell them about the old films, the Hitchcock films. And people my age don’t even know who those people are. I can’t even have a conversation with most people of my generation about that, because they’d be like, ‘Okay, she’s a freak. Something’s wrong with her.’ And the worst part is, in terms of what people see of me, I have become this girl who just loves to be photographed, doesn’t know how to focus, doesn’t know how to work on set, just loves the attention, knows how to go out at night, knows how to party.”

On being in Hollywood to act, not to become a celebrity: “I just feel as though it’s become a situation where people have manifested this caricature of who I am, and they act as if there’s no real person inside of it. I mean, people really have come to believe-directors, producers, agents, whoever it may be-that I started in this because I wanted to be a celebrity. But that was never my intention.”

On not getting the same opportunities as other actresses: “But it’s so impossible for me to actually [go someplace where no one knows me]. When I was in Dubai, there was still press lined up around the hotel. So I find it close to impossible to actually do that. I mean, it is what it is. This is what I asked for, and in this day and age that’s what actually goes on. But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don’t get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to last forever.

    She articulates her speech beautifully

lindsay lohan has much more acting talent than scarlett johannson

she looks so sexy in these photos as well, looks like the old hot lindsay

    Princessof DK Says:

    I really think she’s right.
She’s such a talanted young woman, and I would love to see her as the star of some really big motion picture. And people need to take a chance on her, so she can show the world what it was she brought us we fell in love with in the first place.

    LULU Says:

I kinda feel sorry for her
she is a very good actress, and she’s right
she’s not getting the same opportunities as scarlett johanson

if i only she hadn’t gone out night after night clubbing with Paris!
But atleast she’s seems to be aware of what went wrong

    Turkis Says:

This article was either written by Samantha Ronson or else one of Obama’s Hollywood scriptwriters because it sounds far more articulate than Lindsay has ever been. And from recent reports of her crazy, possibly drug-fuelled paranoia you know that she hasn’t been spending the last year reading.

Most of her interviews are along the lines of “Yeah it gets intense, the paparazzi never leave me alone” or “People are always saying mean things, don’t they know I have a little sister who cares about me? How do you think she feels when she hears I’ve slept with all these people which is not true anyway?” It’s always this choppy hypocritical self-involved gibberish. The difference in this article is that it’s the same choppy hypocritical self-involved gibberish except it has been given a makeover so that she sounds like she’s been studying for the SAT. “Manifested this caricature” indeed.

    seren getty Says:

Why would you feel bad for her? She’s had good roles offered to her, but has chosen to be a “celebrity” rather than an “actress”. Unless, of course, you believe she was forced to party, take drugs and turn up semi-naked to the opening of an envelope…

    Ronda Says:

She has talent, but she is right about being responsible for not getting the opportunities. She CONSTANTLY makes a mess of her life and her image. Stay off the blog, girl!

    mju8 Says:

It’s kind of hard to feel sorry for her since most of the mess she created for herself but I do see she has learnt her lesson (just a little)

    I love Lindsay Lohan’s

    Too bad Says:

Lindsay, stop playing the victim. You had your chance to show that you could show up on time and do your job with “Ugly Betty,” and what happened? You became so disruptive that they shortened your story arc by a couple of episodes.

The sad thing is that I think Lindsay is far more talented than most of the actresses of her generation, but that talent is worthless if she can’t be trusted to show up to work on time and actually work rather than cause trouble with all her drama.

Rehab was really only the beginning of the help Lindsay needs; now she needs some serious, intensive therapy to work on the issues that led to her problems with drugs and alcohol in the first place. Given her family issues, it’s no wonder she has so many problems, but she still needs to work on them herself!

    chuzzle Says:

I don’t think it is impossible to avoid the paps. How about let’s say Scarlett, she doesn’t get photographed as much as Lindsay. Why is that? She avoids places where paparazzi lurk around.

She should be really talented because she started when she was very young. I just don’t think producers or directors want to get associated with her because of the mess she has created. I have nothing for or against her. To me, she is just one Hollywood actress.

BTW, she looks zexy in these photos.

  16. 16
    Snow White Says:

Oh please. She’s full of crap.

  17. 17
    LuckyL Says:

She’s young and hopeful, and she can only go up from here. Hollywood is called “Hollyweird” for a reason, because they pick and choose really who they want to forgive, sometimes deserved–like Robert Downey Jr. and his substance abuse and court problems, Britney and her questionable parenting and outbursts–and then never forgiving others. Some of the haters are just not really aware of her efforts nor what she’s been and is dealing with since childhood and portraying the same biases as good ol’ Hollyweird.

  18. 18
    LuckyL Says:

And I don’t know if I consider Britney under the “deserved” btw.

  19. 19
    LuckyL Says:

    Anyway, she looks ravishing.

    Mark my words Says:

i feel sorry for her. She KNOWS she made the mess in her life by herself. Seems like she learnt the lesson. That’s right. I love her, she’s a great actress and I totally used to be a fan years ago. I remember the first time I saw her in the “Parent trap”, no one knew her at that time where I live and I was sure she would make it one day and yeah she did. But you know it’s like Britney or Christina Aguilera, she’s a Star no matter what people say about her, no matter how much they criticize her, hate on her,no matter how much she’s cruel-words-spitted on. They (Christina and her) actually became what we all want to become, famous and rich. This, haters can’t change….haters actually make them bigger stars. Keep on hating, you’re making them even more famous. Anyway, her speech is well-articulate. Props to her. She’s good…how sad not a lot of ppl see it.

  21. 21
    Mark my words Says:

I agree wit you LuckyL….. on everything including “britney not being among the deserved ones” lol .

So yeah, Lindsay looks amazing here. Love the pictures

  22. 22
    LeeLabella Says:

Gimme a break. She’s got a bad reputation because of her series of DUI’s, arrests, felony changes of cocaine possession, series of car accidents while under the influence, holding up production by showing up late to work on movie sets, not getting along with cast mates, etc… She’ll be back in the tabloids with her self destructive behavior before the year is over. There are way too many young actresses with more talent and fewer problems: Ellen Page, Kirsten Dunst, Even Rachel Wood, Kiera Knightly, Kate Bosworth, Amber Tamblyn, Michelle Willams, Cristina Ricci, Sara Polley, Alicia Witt, America Ferrera, Hayden Panettierra, AnnaSophia Robb, Dakota Fanning, Abigail Breslin, etc… not to mention the hundreds of others actresses who are waiting for their big break.

  23. 23
    megan Says:

Quit whining Lindsay. She’s pathetic. Movies haven’t gotten bad, you just do bad movies. And you’re not given opportunities because you’re an irresponsible twit.

And anyone who thinks she’s learned her lesson or isn’t in this for the attention is a fool. She’s still drinking and drugging. She made a fool of herself on NYE. And her constant blogging are all desperate cries for attention.

  24. 24
    dia from mirza Says:

Rubbish , Scarleet Johansson is far more talented and serious than her !!! Johansson know what she want , what she is working , what she deserved !!!! Lohan , has nothing , she can’t act to save her life , she was a star kid before , but she have made choices and decisions !! I always see photo of her in vacancy , abroad a piscine , a ***** , in night club , and go too late in her tounages of films !! She doen’t work hard , Scarlett do , not her !!! She’s so pathetic !!!

  25. 25
    Nevelin Says:

She looks amazing, beautiful and sexy. I love you Lindsay i wish you luck.
