The Obamas Dance the Night Away

The Obamas Dance the Night Away

President Barack Obama and first Lady Michelle Obama dance the night away at the Home State Inaugural Ball, representing Hawaii and Illinois, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

The President and First Lady danced to “At Last” by Etta James and performed by Beyonce.

First Lady Michelle Obama chose a cream-colored asymmetrical dress designed by Jason Wu. She wore a lemongrass colored outfit this afternoon during the Inauguration Ceremony.

WHAT DO YOU THINK of the First Lady’s evening dress — YAY or NAY?

    #77 – i can assure you she in NOT a size 14. She’s an 18.

  • LINDA

These photos have been photoshopped BIG TIME. They’ve cut Michelle’s figure by about 2 sizes.

  • hacb

I think they looked beautiful. Loved the dress and her earlier ensemble.

Not sure if this was already pointed out, but I think you have your Inauguration Balls mixed up. Beyonce performed At Last at the Neighborhood Ball for their first dance.

  • leah

Obama as president almost makes me which I was an American. No offense to you Americans but Obama will change the US to be more like Canada and our public health care. You all need it desperately.

This family will make so many changes to America that he will be the greatest thing in history by far!

All you McCain supporters out there… I hope you all realize that this is not about celebrities. I hope you all soon will come to realize what his changes will bring and support this president and please don’t tell your children that you once supported for McCain.

  • a total fan

she looked ok, the dress not so much. I would have liked to have seen her in more dramatic color. I wanted her to make an entrance and have everyone say ..WOW!! But she looked ok.

  • Lynley

Didn’t really like the dress. It looks like it should have been strapless or something. It’s just off a little somehow. And Michelle kept having to mess with it, constantly hiking the bottom up when she danced and walked. It looked like it would be a pain to wear. But, even so, I like the Obamas and wish them well.

  • pinkrose

Number 6, you are such an ignoramus. The balls are not govt. sponsored, so your taxes were not used to stage any ball. These are balls sponsored by private individuals and groups – with the execption of maybe the Armed Forced Ball. You should not talk nonsense just for an opportunity to hate on the Obamas.

  • lulu

Michelle totally rocked yesterday — the daytime outfit and color were sensational; in the evening she was really the belle of the ball. Absolutely agree with the former poster — it’s terrific that she’s going with unsung designers like the great Isabel Toledo and Jason Wu. Ralph, Donna, Calvin and Oscar are wonderful, but it’s time for a change!

hrhkat @ 01/21/2009 at 2:16 am Much better then the dress she had on earlier…but still not AMAZING…kinda boring and it didnt show up well on tv…

I was hoping for something with a halter and much more sparkle, and actual color
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

As you said, the gown did not show up well on TV.

“The one-of-a-kind silk chiffon confection was embellished with organza rosettes, Swarovski crystal rhinestones and silver embroidery.

The first lady accessorized with diamond chandelier earrings, a white gold and diamond ring and a stack of diamond bangles by jeweler Loree Rodkin. ”

HOW MUCH MORE SPARKLE CAN ONE PERSON HAVE???/!!!

  • brooklyn

    Michelle looks amazing!

  • y

does anyone else notice that he poses on the top step while she’s on the lower step to make himself appear taller than her? funny stuff.

  • ab

Oh my goodness, that dress looks stunning on her! it show case her height and her slender body!. They just look simply in love while they were dancing, makes me smile!. To the haters…isn’t it exhausting to generate that much hate?, all this negativity! ugh

    To #77
    Size 14……GOOD!
Finally a woman who eats and is loved and admired by her husband.

    Excellent.

  • ann

Man it looks like she’s getting married!!

  • Tijen

I love the way Barack Obama loves Michele Obama. Finally, romance is back at the White House. They are a very romantic couple.

  • jmo

    I doubt she is a size 14..more like a 10.

  • Ali

Although I think she is wonderful, this dress was not my favorite. It seemed like prom dress rather than an inaugural dress. Something in color with a little more elegance/sparkle would have been nice. But mostly, her dancing in it at 10 balls should have been considered. The train got sooooo tiresome after a while – that they couldn’t really move because of the train. And by the end, it looked like she just wanted to cut it off. Bad thinking on the designer’s part. All in all, she is fabulous, though. Love this family.

  • Kim

    The ball gown was pretty!

And the colour of her inaugural outfit was chartreuse! Now yellow or lemon grass. LOL

  • lauren

Michelle Obama is the epitome of class…. beautiful, smart, in an equal partnership with her husband…. WE ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE THESE PEOPLE IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!! And yeah, the dress looks gorgeous.

  • Micha

the dress is a definite “YAY” for me! very youthful, could almost pass for a wedding dress. it was such a touching moment watching their first dance, and beyonce did an excellent job!

  • http://justjared kimd

Why is it that if someone says something that is even the tiniest bit negative about the Obama’s do they become a racist??? I thought everyone said his election into office had nothing to do with his skin color. All other past presidents have had negative things said about them as well and they where all white, so does that mean people where racist to them as well? If we are looking beyond his color, then negative comments should be taken as that, just as they have for everyone else and not an open invitation to call someone names. NEGATIVE COMMENTS MADE ABOUT AN OUTFIT AT THAT!!! Me thinking your outfit is awful doesn’t translate into “I spew hate your way because of your race”, get a grip people.

  • lana

she looks amazing- so happy so see her supporting young american designers. you go girl!!!!!
Plus- got to agree. Hottest first family ever!

(CNN) — Jamaal Young was watching Barack Obama and his family greet an ecstatic crowd in Chicago, Illinois, on Election Night when he realized that something seemed wrong.

President Obama and his wife, Michelle, and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, greet the nation.
    1 of 3

Obama didn’t shout at his wife, Michelle, to shut up. The first lady didn’t roll her eyes and tell Obama to act like a man. No laugh track kicked in, no one danced, and no police sirens wailed in the background.

Young had tuned in to celebrate the election of the nation’s first African-American president. But he realized that he was witnessing another historic first. A black family was being featured as the first family, not the “problem family” or the “funny family.”

“They are not here to entertain us,” says Young, a New York Press columnist. “Michelle Obama is not sitting around with her girlfriends saying, ‘My man ain’t no good.’ You’re not seeing this over -sexualized, crazy black family that, every time a Marvin Gaye song comes on, someone stands up and says, ‘Oh girl, that’s my jam.’ “

Uh Right is absolutely wrong. Laura Bush excited no one. She never made it as an international icon and was a step down from Hillary.
its not that she was a bad looking woman just never associate glamor with her. For 8 years she was essentially a nobody in ways no one could ever say about Jackie, Nancy or Hillary.

  • susanist

Uh right! Wrong again. I know many of you would like to think that racism is a two-way street but most Blacks love Whites in America and are only frustrated in that their love is returned with hate and indifference. However, if you want to say prejudice is a 2-way street then you would be right. However to be a racist means having the political power to legislate and enforce laws that affirm a master race over an inferior. In other words Obama would have to pass laws to make being white a legal disadvantage. Are there some Blacks resentful of Whites? Sure but this is not racism neither are those Blacks who believe they are superior to Whites because they lack again the police and legislative power to enforce their bias.

Racism is a total system of racial supremacy which is institutionalized beyond an individual’s capacity to love or hate. No Black has ever come close to doing wht Whites have done even those thugs who target Whites for muggings don’t have the backing of church and state necessary for real racism. A victims hatred and desire for vengence against an oppressor is not racism. Neither does it matter how many whites and blacks are friends or lovers it was always the institution of racist that overruled the good sentiments of the individual who may not have been. Blacks don’t have any institution which enforces Black Supremacy to the the denial of White political rights.

So take your Reverse Racism arguments and shove it.

Your statements are wrong but worthy of the parrot preachings of a Rush Limbaugh Ditto-head. On the military. This is the reason for the economy suffering. None of you hawks really support the war effort. i don’t see any of you rushing to volunteer to serve in the military. Your favoritie politicians campaign on the mantra of ‘tax cut.’ while an expensive war is being fought. Bush went from mistake to mistake which were the result of his incompetence and the foolishness of too many Americans like you.

The so-called recession is too complex an issue but remember Republicans crippled the government by trying to impeach a President over blowjob. that absorbed much of the energy of govenrment during the 2nd Clinton administration in what was accurately an attempt by Neo-confederates to overthrown a Federal Government. Same with the California recall only Schwartzeneggar is very different than what you had in mind.

The war is being fought where the real US casualties are Dead Presidents as in the money being throw away. The Islamist do not aime at killing Americans, their aim is to destroy the US economy based on their own methods of fighting as well as lessons learned from Mao and Giap’s People’s War. Take a lot of casualties, avoid frontal assaults, be patient and watch the US economy falter.

How much money does it cost to armor plate 1 hummer which is then used to fight against non-state warriors armed with AK 047′S a grenade-launcher and a cell-phone? That’s the deep hole the US economy is sinking into. Aghanistan and Iraq and later Somaila and now Nigeria will bury us in ways Krushchev never dreamed.

Please spare us your Parrot utterances.

Sorry but she looks like the main character from the Planet of the Apes.

C’mon guys….there is no way Michelle is a size 14. She is a big unit. She’s tall and she’s big.
    And baby’s got back.

  • shelby

Just because someone doesn’t think Michelle Obama is beautiful doesn’t make them racist.
It is not a pre-requisite to be beautiful to be a First Lady. It is not a beauty contest. It’s not the Victoria’s Secrets runway.
Some people may not think Michelle is beautiful….in fact they may think she is ugly. But those same people may think she is a great person, wife, mother etc etc……just not beautiful.
To call someone a racist because they don’t think Michelle is beautiful is absurd. To call someone racist is actually racist in itself.
