Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Book Recommendations

Gwyneth Paltrow asked a couple of her best and most literary-minded girlfriends to share their top picks for books.

“I always like knowing the literary preferences of people,” the 36-year-old actress says. “I think it gives a better understanding of their inner life.”

One of her fave books is “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Brontë. Gwyn shares, “This was the first novel I ever read. Actually, it was read to me by my mother. We started it when I was 10 years old. The novel starts out with a young Jane, about the age I was at the time, so I was drawn in, in such a visceral way. It was the moment I really started to understand, from my little bed in a room with strawberry wallpaper, that there was a scope to the world, a past and future, that would be there for the learning and for the taking. It was a powerful and deep experience, being read those words, that story with all of its heavy imagery and emotion.”

The other two were “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky and “The Sheltering Sky” by Paul Bowles.

Madonna’s favorites include “The Bad Girl” by Mario Vargas Llosa, “Shantaram” by Gregory David Roberts and “The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger.

Gwyn also described the Material Mom in her newsletter, saying, “Madonna Ciccone rules the world, is a loyal friend and a terrific mother.”

She is looking cute! I think Brad Pitt should have stayed with her. Who knows, when he leaves Angie maybe he will hook up with her again.

Oh bruh-thah…

Anyone who’s paid attention knows the only way to live and survive in Madonna’s world is by expressing utter devotion and praise at all times. I’m cringing.

oh my, shes so smart…. NOT!

“Shantaram” by Gregory David Roberts is a great read – one of Madonna’s favorite books.

why don’t they marry each other?
since Gwyneth appears to be Madonna’s biggest fan and friend…
and loves to talk about her and hang out with her like everyday…

Hmmm…so she was 10 years old when she read her first novel. No, wait, it was READ TO HER! That’s something to brag about!
I wonder what age she was when she actually read a book herself. Or did she ever?
Just when you think that you should give celebrities a break. That they are not as uneducated/stupid as they seem. They have to go and say something like that!

“Madonna Ciccone rules the world”.

True. Love Gwyn & Madge! <3

She has become so annoying. Who cares what she reads. She thinks that she is Oprah.

_The Bad Girl_ is a great book! I’ve read it in its original language. Great pick, Madge! :*

I recommend Life With My Sister Madonna too! LOL Sorry Madge!

I remember the days when she was known for her acting. Now that ‘Iron Man’ was a hit, maybe she can get that back instead of this crap. This sounds like a money venture that doesn’t help her image as an icy snob.

Ugly pic. She looks bloated.

could gwyneth be any more up madonna’s @ss?
how many calories are there in sh*t, gwynnie?
you better watch your waistline! it seems you are eating madge’s poo night and day, 24/7…..
only a person like madonna could stand to have such a sycophant for a friend….

Nice of Gwyn to share her high school reading list.

Rick, I think it’s the woman more than the picture. She’s a buttaface with a nice pair of legs.

Also, I’m surprised Madonna didn’t take the time to write something about the books given that they’re such close pals.

I wonder how many hours with Google it took her to make that list.

she is so pretentious! ugh, i can’t stand her anymore. please, stop talking!

Whatever, standard reading assignment books? How innovative.
