OlderAshlee Simpson Defends Sister's Weight Gain
Jessica Simpson‘s recent weight gain has become all the buzz lately. Her little sister Ashlee has taken to her MySpace to vent her frustration:
“Since when did a woman’s weight become newsworthy… I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News (“Jessica Simpson Shocks Fans With Noticeably Fuller Figure”.)
“All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard. Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend? I seriously doubt it.
“How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure? Now can we focus on the things that really matter. -Ash ”
Earlier today, one of Jessica‘s trainers also defended her fuller figure.

Jessica did not look like a size 2 in those pictures. Nontheless, I blame it on the pants…The high waisted thing just didn’t do any good for her.

No your sis chose to be in the public eye-so she’s being compared to the size she once was- I think the bigger news story should have been Jessica Simpson goes from playing In This Skin Tour to the Chilli Festival what happened to her career?’
I think Jessica is beautiful just like she is…I guess 5 pounds on someone extremely tiny to begin with is more newsworthy than how to fix our economic mess! Good grief!!!

well it is newsworthy. it comes with the territory of being in the spotlight(not that she is really an “a list” celebrity though.)
but she is right that you wouldn’t go up to a family member and say “wow, you have gotten fat”

Size 2?! I guess a size 2 is not what it used to be, unless we have ten sizes between 0 and 2. She looked like a comfortable 6-8 (or a chunky European 12 :D )

Hey Jessica (Ashley)…if you want little girls to feel good about themselves then don’t lie about your size. You would be helping out the self-image of little girls if you would admit your a 6-8 (even a 4), but don’t try to pass yourself off as a 2.
