A true movie star, elegant, glamourous, and beautiful.

This film will be a must see!

  46. 46

WRONG AGAIN TACO @ 01/31/2009 at 7:07 pm The film is an autobiography of the famous film director, Fellini, so yes, they do have 1960’s vintage cameras in the background of the scenes! LMAO

They haven’t used cameras like that in 40 years!

Kidman is allowed to smoke, drink, swear, eat, gain weight, lose weight, have good moods, bad moods, wear beautiful clothing, fur, old jeans, uncombed ponytails, and otherwise be an free adult woman who doesn’t answer to

  47. 47
    taco Says:

You think that’s a camera in the background? Sorry, but you are wrong! Yes, she is allowed to do all those things, but so much for the image when you lie about not doing those things!

  48. 48
    Mia Says:

ANY fur, regardless of WHERE it is worn, involves the torture and slaughter of animals in the most brutal fashion imaginable. EVERYONE but the most uneducated and ignorant knows this, and so does she. Trust me, Hollyood knows.

Now, Kidman made a choice when she ignored it. I just ask people to take note of it. I used to be a fan of hers but not anymore. She crossed a line.

Anything Kidman wears will give PR to that product and SHE KNOWS THAT! She is like a walking commercial for fur in that film. That is the truth and it SICKENS me. She could have said no, and she could have told them to get her something else to wear.

She did not do that and it is obvious from the pictures that she has no problems promoting furs, as long as SHE looks good.

Almost all Hollywood stars have taken a stand against this abuse and torture. She does not take that stand, and it makes her a small person.

  49. 49
    Mia Says:

Also, note how that fur EXACTLY matches her hair color. She clearly was involved in selecting the right fur for this film since it had to match her hair and skin color in the exact right way. I bet she tried on A LOT of furs before this one was selected.

She obviously does NOT care about animal abuse and the torture of animals in the fur industry and she does not mind promoting furs at all. She is cold and egotistic.

A woman who is cold-hearted is always ugly no matter how she looks.

  50. 50
    Fur Idiots Says:

Actresses don’t choose the costumes in films. The directors do that.

It’s a period piece, fur was always worn by movie stars in the 60′s.
The coat is beautiful. All women in Rome wear fur today. It’s an movie about an Italian.

I hate fundamentalists morons. Intolerance personified and always too glad to brag about their intolerance.

  51. 51
    Mia Says:

And before anyone tries to say she didn’t have a choice and that the costume department is responsible you should understand that big movie stars have contracts that protects their reputation.

Nothing that could be damaging to their reputation and career could be forced upon them in the making of a film, and that would include wearing fur. If she wears fur it is because she AGREED to wearing fur.

  52. 52
    Fur Idiots Says:

  53. 53
    jessie Says:

she’s a mean old hag for wearing a fur coat! animals that are skinned alive make her look UGLY. and mia is right. big actors like her have contracts that state that they don’t have to do things that would damage their image or carrers.

if you fools think she had no say in this think again.

  54. 54
    taco Says:

Mia, you are correct. If actors believe in a cause – like the fur issue – they work that into their contracts. The same thing is done with nude scenes. If producers want certain actors in their movies, they will respect their clauses in the contracts. If not, they get another actor. Obviously, Kidman doesn’t have an issue with the slaughter of animals.

  55. 55
    jessie Says:

no one cares about fur? you mean no one cares about the torture of animals in the name of vanity? speak for yourself.

many people do care. it’s some nicole kidman fans who don’t care, apparently. maybe they’re just as cold and mean as she is.

Agree with you Milla (#59). Plus, it was a masterpiece, no matter what some people say, and the most unfairly judged film in cinema history (How ridiculous that the Academy snubbed it even in the techical categories like cinematography, sound, visual effects and art direction!!!)

I saw NINE on Broadway with Antonio Bandaas.

    Claudia wore fur. THE END.

Great play. Can’t wait for the film

  66. 66
    Mia Says:

Nicole Kidman does not HAVE to wear real fur in ANY film if she does not want to wear real fur. She is protected in her contract like every other major star against doing things that may cause harm to her image and career.

She obviously does NOT care enough about the animal abuse and torture involved in making a fur such as the one she is wearing, since she did not say no.

There were a lot of rumors already that she never did like animals. It seems those rumors were true. She totally ignores the torture involved in this vanity industry. Her choice to wear fur and to promote furs is revolting.

People DO care about the choices movie stars make TODAY when everyone is informed AND educated on this very serious matter.

Nicole Kidman in this film is a walking commercial for the fur industry and she should be seen as such. Shame on her.

  67. 67
    Mia Says:

    THE FACTS…….

Animals are tortured and suffer tremendously before they die, and are often even skinned alive in order to avoid “imperfections” in the finished fur coat.

The fur Kidman is wearing is VERY, VERY expensive, and it is very likely that animals were skinned alive, suffering unimaginably before dying.

Regardless of how you choose to use such a product it always will be a great inhumanity to support this in any way, shape or form.

No fancy rhetoric will change this…ever.

  68. 68
    FACTS versus MIA Says:

You lost all credibility when you posted what a complete stranger, Kidman, cares about, thinks about, feels, believes, etc.

As for the contracted obligations of any actress on any film., you again are fabricating nonsense. You’ve never seen a confidential movie contract in your life.

FACT: Zeta-Jones was originally slated to play Claudia, but insisted the part be changed. She was fired.

Obviously you’re simply making up things in order to rant.

  69. 69
    A man's view Says:

No one really knows if the fur is real or fake.

I personally could care less. As for the loudmouth Mia and her many names. I couldn’t give a flip how many rodents are killed to make a coat.

Kidman looks delicious. The movie looks like a hit.

  70. 70
    Question Says:

If Mia is skinned alive will she shut-up?

  71. 71
    Cutiemcfreckles Says:

rebecca miller is one lucky woman!

  72. 72
    daisy Says:

You can not tell if a fur is real or fake.

  73. 73
    realitycheck Says:

Mia is right. Nicole does have a choice. Her choice is to wear fur and to smoke. No way around that one, bi*ch.

  74. 74
    Sam Says:

Yet another future BOMB, as in MEGA FLOP, for animal hater and chain-smoker Nic Kidman.

  75. 75
    It's pimpin' as usual Says:

Mia @ 01/31/2009 at 7:40 pm AND Taco:

Excuse me, but this is a period piece and the fur appears to be vintage. Furthermore, it is possible she didn’t have anything written into her contract because, gosh, she just didn’t think about it. HOWEVER, the actor generally has very little say about costumes. I didn’t see these comments on the Penelope Cruz threads where she has a fur on her shoulders.
I am as against fur as anyone, but this fur appears to be a vintage piece and not a new piece of dead animal.

And furthermore, have you ever seen her in “REAL” life in a fur? I cannot recall any time she has worn fur in real life. If so, send a link wiht your comment.

  76. 76
    justsayin Says:

she looks like an old wh**re in that coat. she should be skinned alive. that would improve her signing, so it would actually serve a good purpose.

Nicole loves to wear fur that comes from tortured animals that were gassed and skinned while still alive! What a third rate wh**re she is.

  77. 77
    Emily Says:

Some people here are less than honest. Being in a movie is no excuse for wearing something that caring and responsible people are now boycotting since it involves great pain and suffering for animals.

OF COURSE an actor of her magnitude could say no to wearing real fur, in or out of a movie, since it could seriously damage her reputation and image. These mega stars have VERY good contracts. Saying she had no choice is intellectually dishonest. She just didn’t give a damn.

A-listers do not have to smoke or wear furs in movies unless they choose to go along with it. Let’s get real here and stop the nonsense.

  78. 78
    Rob Says:

she looks like a complete idiot in that hat.

  79. 79
    PETA Says:

    What You Can Do
Consumers need to know that every fur coat, lining, or piece of trim represents the intense suffering of animals, whether they were trapped, ranched, or even unborn. This cruelty will end only when the public refuses to buy or wear fur.

Do not patronize stores that sell fur, and let the stores’ owners know why you won’t buy from their establishments. Write letters to the editors of fashion magazines that splash fur-clad models all over their pages and explain how wearing fur supports a cruel industry and why faux fur is a much more compassionate option.

  80. 80
    PETA Says:

No federal humane slaughter law protects animals in fur factory farms, and killing methods are gruesome. Because fur farmers care only about preserving the quality of the fur, they use slaughter methods that keep the pelts intact but that can result in extreme suffering for the animals. Animals may have clamps attached to or rods forced into their mouths and rods are forced into their anuses, and they are painfully electrocuted. Other are poisoned with strychnine, which suffocates them by paralyzing their muscles with painful, rigid cramps. Gassing and neck-breaking are other common slaughter methods in fur factory farms.

The fur industry refuses to condemn even blatantly cruel killing methods. Genital electrocution—deemed “unacceptable” by the American Veterinary Medical Association in its “2000 Report of the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia”—causes animals to suffer from cardiac arrest while they are still conscious.(9) In 1994, Indiana became the first state to file criminal charges against a fur factory farm after PETA investigators documented genital electrocution at V-R Chinchillas. The chinchilla fur industry considers electrocution and neck-breaking “acceptable.

  81. 81
    PETA Says:

To cut costs, fur farmers pack animals into small cages, preventing them from taking more than a few steps back and forth. This crowding and confinement is especially distressing to minks—solitary animals who may occupy up to 2,500 acres of wetland habitat in the wild.(7) The anguish and frustration of life in a cage leads minks to self-mutilate—biting at their skin, tails, and feet—and frantically pace and circle endlessly. Zoologists at Oxford University who studied captive minks found that despite generations of being bred for fur, minks have not been domesticated and suffer greatly in captivity, especially if they are not given the opportunity to swim.(8) Foxes, raccoons, and other animals suffer just as much and have been found to cannibalize their cagemates in response to their crowded confinement.

Animals in fur factory farms are fed meat byproducts considered unfit for human consumption. Water is provided by a nipple system, which often freezes in the winter or might fail because of human error.

  82. 82
    Rob Says:

Investigators reported that up to 8,000 animals were loaded onto each truck, with cages stacked on top of each other. Cages containing live animals were tossed from the tops of the trucks onto the ground 10 feet below, shattering the legs of the animals inside them. Many of the animals still had collars on, a sign that they were once someone’s beloved companions, stolen to be bludgeoned, hanged, bled to death, and strangled with wire nooses so that their fur can be turned into coats, trim, and trinkets.

Undercover investigators from Swiss Animal Protection/EAST International toured fur farms in China’s Hebei Province and found that foxes, minks, rabbits, and other animals were pacing and shivering in outdoor wire cages, exposed to everything from scorching sun to freezing temperatures to driving rain. Disease and injuries are widespread on these farms, and animals suffering from anxiety-induced psychosis chew on their own limbs and repeatedly throw themselves against the cage bars.

The globalization of the fur trade has made it impossible to know where fur products come from. Skins move through international auction houses and are purchased and distributed to manufacturers around the world, and finished goods are often exported. Even if a fur garment’s label says that it was made in a European country, the animals were likely raised and slaughtered elsewhere—possibly on an unregulated Chinese fur farm.

  83. 83

When undercover investigators made their way onto Chinese fur farms recently, they found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal’s leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut.

When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals’ heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals’ hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera.

And I’m incredibly DISGUSTED BY OTHER LOOSER PEOPLE who have nothing better to do in they LOOSING LIVES than attack an actress who wears a fur (maybe false) coat in A MOVIE SCENE NOT IN THE REAL LIFE.
What about Kate Winslet? Who wears praudly a fur coat in her last Vanity Fair’s coat?!
The truth is: YOU CAN’T STAND NICOLE KIDMAN BECAUSE SHE’S INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED, POWERFUL, WITH BIG BIG BIG HITS IN HER CAREER (yes people: the golden compass, moulin rouge, happy feet, the interpreter, the others, cold mountain, batman forever, far & away, australia), ALL AROUND THE WORLD SHE’S KNOWN AS THE MOST FAMOUS AND IMPORTANT ACTRESS, and no matter what you say here, because you are stupid people in a stupid blog, without no lives, without no ambitions.
You don’t have any solution to attack her, so you do it with fur coar, botox, false flops…
Gosh, I will never change one day of my life with one of yours. Your lives must be a terrible sad.

KIKI – get over yourself! Go back to NKU and keep writing about how perfect Kidman is in your world. None of you know the real Kidman.

How can one tell this is going to be a hit by any of these stills? I believe the same was said for “Australia”, and how’s that movie doing in the awards category?

  95. 95
    KIKI Says:

It’s funny how kidman hater belive that all the people that defend nicole are member of NKU. well stupid human being, i’m not NKU member, i’m just a person who admires good actress like nicole kidman and who loves good movies.
i suppose you know how is the real kidman, don’t you? and you know it by a pic, right? well stupid human being, for what we now maybe this fur coat is false, and there is any reason to attack her.

you are really really really stupid and incredibly sad.

She was smoking during the scene so what’s the problem?
And if she wasn’t smoking for the scene but during the break what’s the problem?
A cigarette sometimes doesn’t kill anyone yet. She makes sport, she eats healthy food, I think she takes care of hersels too much.

And she wears a coat, it’s clear like the sun it’s false, but if is it real? You false animalist eat animals everyday. Guess how McDonalds makes your favourite hamburger…

People should stop to think too much for something that doesn’t exsist.

This IS the real taco. I find it real strange that Kidman’s fans can’t handle when people come on here and state their honest opinions of her – even if they are negative. So then her fans come on here posing as another poster, for example, taco 7:59 and taco 8:40. You are doing Kidman no justice by doing this. This behavior shows how sick Kidman’s fans really are – it shows what kind of a celebrity Kidman is when she has people like you looking up to her.

You sound like you have too much anger bottled up inside of you. Were you bullied and beaten up in your childhood that you are now spending so much time online “beating up” on Kidman and anyone else who choose to support her? You sound like one really sick puppy.

btw … you remind me of some “Dorito” folks. It seems to be a pattern… dorito, taco… We’ll probably see some NK-hating “enchilada” or “burrito” here or a few other garbage dumps.

Jillian – just keep posting away. You are supporting my theory 100 percent. If I did have a messed up childhood, which I didn’t, you are making fun of those who have. Another “classy” insult from Kidman fans. If you like Kidman and want to praise her, do that all you want. Those of us who don’t see her as a God will continue to say so. If you want to read personal insults made by Kidman fans, just stay turned to Just Jared!

No clue about these Doritos people.

You know…I’ve read the comments about NK on JJ for ages and rarely comment. But now, I can’t stop myself.

Good Lord…some NK fans do not seem capable of defending her without making very mean and hateful comments toward other posters.

Seriously, just defend her. If you think she was smoking just for the scene…that’s fine. Others see the lighting equipment and know she is a smoker. smoking between takes. That’s her choice…not a healthy one and not one I support with a baby around, but she is an adult woman and can make her own decisions. It’s hardly illegal.

As far as the fur, I think it’s a real vintage fur. Could she have declined wearing real fur…yes. This could have been written into her contract as it is for other actors / actresses who have concern about animal cruelty. This wasn’t her priority. She wore fur. It is not a crime…it’ IS a statement about a person’s moral views, IMO. Nothing more; nothing less.

As far as the success of Nine, I think it will do well. If NK had a larger role, it might have a negative impact because of her title of box office poison. But fortunately, Daniel DL, Ms. Cotillard, Penelope C., Kate H, Sophia Loren, Judi Dench and the other great actors will lift it up to success. I think it’ll be a good film and might even help to resuscitate NK’s career, which has taken a huge hit this last 24 months.

Taco…You say that Kidman fans make personal insults…It’s funny because in your post at 10:28, you say “it shows how sick Kidman’s fans really are” (you love to generalize, don’t you?)…If that’s not a personal insult, I don’t know what is…
I’m a fan of Nicole Kidman…I just admire her work as an actress, that’s why I’m here looking at those beautiful pictures…But you, why are you here? If you don’t like Nicole Kidman, why wasting your time writing about her? I don’t understand…Does it make you feel good somehow? Does it make you feel “superior”?

So if the film is a success, it will be thanks to them but if it’s a flop, it will be Nicole’s fault? That’s ridiculous…
Oh and about the pictures, I think she is gorgeous…She reminds me of Brigitte Bardot in her heyday…

How absolutely DISGUSTING she is! How ON EARTH can she wear a fur coat when everyone knows the terrible suffering those animals go through? She must be a total psychopathic witch!!

EVERYONE should boycott this movie out of respect for the animals that were slaughtered. No major star has to wear a fur coat in movies. That could mean the kiss of death to their image so they have those things written into their contracts.

Obviously Nicole didn’t care and was too stupid and cold-hearted to say “no, get me something else to wear, I can’t and won’t wear fur”!

I rarely comment on these topics…but I really wanted to say something today:

@Kiki: I totally agree with you. I’m disgusted to read how low and ridiculous some people’s comments can be.

Some people say that Nicole fans are sick and rude…Ok, and what Nic haters are? Nice and well educated? *rolls eyes*…You can’t expect stay calm or do not get this defensive after they’ve been doing this “hate Nicole Kidman” campaign in every single post about her. It’s a hobby for them, obviously…What do they expect from Nicole fans? A warm welcome? Whether people respond with logical arguments or angered posts, they just come back to the mean and nasty comments. Sorry but that’s exhausting for any Nicole fan who only wants to enjoy her pics/news!

Plus I’ll never undertsand why Nicole haters feel the need to come here every day. And on top of that, they claim to know every fact about her life, morals, habits, kids, movie contracts…jeez, they seem to be the ones obsessed with Nicole if you ask me! What’s next? Hating her because she wears high heels and you think that’s disrespectful for short people? Bashing her because one day she decided to have her hairline on the other side? I wouldn’t be surprised at this point.

Now about that fur coat…for God’s sakes, it’s a costume for a film! It’s not her personal outfit. You don’t even know if that’s real fur. Did you do the same hate campaign for thousands of films like Chicago who also had that kind of coats for the actresses? Did you all blame ever single actress who wears fur in a film? If that’s so…you must be really busy, 24 hours a day…
Btw, not every single Nic fan is member of NKU (I’ve read they mention it all the time; they must spend lots of their time reading that place like maniacs, or so it seems…). At least I’m not. And I’m not her fan because I think she’s perfect…of course she’s far from it, she’s human! I just respect her work as an actress and I love most of her movies. I enjoy her interviews and I think she’s very beautiful…Why do you have a problem with it? How do Nicole, her family and her fans affect your life? I can’t picture myself posting all the time about how much I hate a celebrity…at least you won’t see me posting in Paris Hilton topics, e.g. If I don’t like her…I move on, period.

Thanks for the Nicole pics, JJ. They’re lovely :)
