Amy Poehler Plays Parks and Recreation
Amy Poehler‘s new TV series, Parks and Recreation (previously rumored to be Public Service) will premiere on Thursday, April 9.
The new NBC comedy features Poehler as optimistic town official Leslie Knope in Indiana, who turns a construction pit into a park while trying to mentor a bored college-aged intern (Aubrey Plaza, not pictured).
Helmed by The Office exec producers, Parks and Recreation will mimic the show’s mockumentary style. Rashida Jones and Aziz Ansari (both pictured) play a nurse and a government official, respectively.
Earlier this week, Amy and Rashida were spotted filming the premiere ep at a playground.

Yes, love Amy! :-)
It’s depressing that there isn’t much worth watching on ‘free’ tv these days. This doesn’t sound like anything exciting either.
i love u rashida, ur so hot
i hope it’s actually funny
for some reason i dont like amy, cant really explain it but whatever
Super excited! Hope it’s a hit.
LOVE AZIZ ANSARI!!! He’s hilarious and will make the show!!!!
i wish she was still on SNL…
NAY.
cannot wait!
There is also a PORN-MOVIE in the makes, folks!!
I love all three of them, so I’m hoping that even if the show itself turns out to suck, they’ll still make it enjoyable. It does kinda suck that she’s not on SNL anymore and then shows up on this, but at least she’s doing something. I’m sure a lot of people are gonna make a big deal out of her not being on SNL anymore but really, there’s more than that and I’m almost glad because now she can move onto a wider variety of stuff.
Anyways, yes, excited even if it turns out to suck.
cool cool. A show reppin’ my home state. Kinda awesome.
Better make us proud.
I hate the new title! They should’ve stuck with Public Service because it seriously sounds like a paid programming advertisement.
I work in Parks and Rec for the village of Pleasantville (www.pleasantville-ny.gov) and I can not wait to see this show. It is going to be funny
Absolutely can’t wait to see the show! work in parks and rec in Maine and I’m sure my colleagues and I have more material than NBC could use on this show that really happened….can’t make this stuff up! Go Amy! wonder if she’ll ask Gov. Palin to do an appearance in her park…maybe Moose hunting?? loved the rap song on SNL
I love Amy!!
The P&R women of Michigan are eagerly awaiting the premier of this show. We too have LOTS of story lines that would be great. Maybe the writers could go to each state as a promotion.
We’re planning a party for the premier night – finally some understanding of what we go through!!!!
Can’t wait for this show! Those of us who work in Parks and Recreation could probably write the script for you from REAL things that happen in our communities. No need for fiction, the real stuff is hilarious! Can’t wait to see it.
I love Amy..she’s hilarious!
I agree with some of the people above, Parks and Recreation folks could write this show, our days are a comedy!
Thinking of having a staff party for the start of the show!
