Michelle Obama Covers "Vogue" March 2009

Michelle Obama Covers

Michelle Obama takes the March 2009 cover of Vogue, as photographed by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The 45-year-old First Lady wore a sleeveless magenta dress by Jason Wu, the same designer she wore during the Inaugural Ball.

When asked about her daughters, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha, Michelle said, “I’m going to try to take them to school every morning, as much as I can. But there’s also a measure of independence. And obviously there will be times I won’t be able to drop them off at all. I like to be a presence in my kids’ school. I want to know the teachers; I want to know the other parents.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK of Michelle’s first Vogue cover — YAY or NAY?

Really? This is the cover? I feel so under-whelmed. I think it could have been so much more glamourous- Anna Wintour dropped the ball on this one :(

# 2

she leaves really mean, like scowling… should have choice a better picture

Pretty but it doesn’t really look that professional.

# 4

Why is Annie Leibovitz or whatever her name is the only Photographer Conde Naste uses?

This is a bad picture of Michelle. She’s prettier than this photo/

# 5

Also big mistake covering up her nice long neck.

# 6

i don’t really care. i don’t think she should be on vogue. she really isn’t that fashionable.

# 7

I dont understand why she would be on the cover of a fashion magazine.

# 8

Hmm…it’s fine, it’s just not anything really exciting. I find it really predictable and boring. And she looks really fierce…but not in a good way; kinda like she’s deviously plotting against someone…

weird expression.

she looks terrific. Not Nancy Regan or Laura B… thank God!

Bravo!! nicely done though i concur with those above that this could be done better. and she’s on the cover b/c the demand is there. nice change – vogue embodies smart, fashionable women so its about time the new 1st lady graced the cover!

She looks tense.

LOVE it! She is amazing. Can’t wait to pick up this issue!

seriously this is the cover? NO WAY wow ultra simplicity. Nothing special in fact it looks boring and dull.

She’s beautiful but this is disappointing.
Bad photo.

I agree–bad photo. Conde Nast is trying to give her a suductive appearance rather than the dignified stand she deserves. She can be personable without trying to be sexy.

Love her but meh on the pic.

totally buying this!!! and i usually dont like vogue, but i’ll make an exception here!

She is great, but i agree bad cover pic. Sorry to say but she has very masculine features.

so awesome shes on the cover!!!

she looks great luv her

haha, I wanna read (hear?) john von a*hole giving comment on this one… again! :)

she looks like a freaking monkey… makes me want to vomit
