I want to see Brad kissing and caressing Angie in the red carpet like she has been doing to him. I hate the fact that he only kiss and hag her when something good up for her. When everything seems going well for her. This is a superficial love that is why it won’t last. He puts everthing before her including his carrrier and I hate that.

Finally after a long wait, I already watched Changeling & twice at that for two consecutive days, last night & a night before that. Even though most cinemas are showing popcorn movies on this Valentine season, I chose to watch a heavy, very emotional film. I just couldn’t let this pass without seeing it on the big screen especially it’s showing on a very limited number of cinemas. And I was relieved I made the right decision.
    .
What can I say but the film is outstanding. You have to be patient at first in order to appreciate the flow of the story. I didn’t even notice that the screening time is more than two hours. Clint Eastwood is really a genius in film making. He knows what he’s doing. The totality of the film is just awesome.
    .
    Cast….Cinematography…Music….Script…Costume….etc. .are just PERFECT !!!!
    .
Now about The Jolie, the very first reason why I wanted to watch Changeling.
    .
Unfortunately or should I say fortunately, I didn’t see Angelina Jolie at all!!! I saw Christine Collins no matter how much I tried to see on the contrary!!! It’s all Mrs. Collins!!! The actress playing her must really be good to make me forget “she is who she is” in real life!! To even say The Jolie is good is UNDERSTATEMENT, she is an excellent actress, an outstanding one. She BLEW MY MIND in this particular movie. She’s even better than A Mighty Heart where she also delivered a great performance. In Changeling, I could feel her grief, her suffering, her longing for her son to be found, her longing to be helped even by the inefficient, ineffective, corrupt LAPD. I was speechless the way she handled the subtlety yet showing strength of her performance. It’s just tearing the core of my heart & mind. I was speechless that I drank a lot of liquid after watching the film and discussed it extensively with my friend.
    .
    SPOILER ALERT:
    .
My most favorite scene in Changeling is when Capt. JJ Jones (Jeffrey Donovan was also very good playing this character. He should have been at least nominated by the award-giving bodies!!!) made a surprise visit to Mrs. Collins office & about to tell her the “good news” that her son has been found. Oh my God, the CONFLICTING REACTIONS of Mrs. Collins when she’s about to cry & trembling a little (when she thought she’s receiving a bad news) and the feeling of relief while still in tears when she heard actually the good news is just BRAVO!!!! The movement of her hand, her eyes, her tears, her body language…..just AWESOME!!!! If only I was not shy to do a standing ovation and clap and shout, I could have done that right that very moment but I didn’t want to disrupt the viewing pleasure of the audience. This scene will forever be in my mind forever. It is already marked in my heart & mind.
    .
Changeling is a film telling a true story that many people thought or found the difficulty to believe that it actually happened in the year 1928. I believe it happened. The film was made for people to ponder about justice, hope, and the kind of police in our community.
    .
After watching the film twice, I just thought I didn’t just made the right decision in choosing to watch it over popcorn movies but rather I made the WISE decision. Indeed, it was!!!

Thai PM: Rohingya were pushed out
    .
    BANGKOK
    .

    Saturday, February 14, 2009
    .

THAI Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva acknowledged in an interview with CNN yesterday that there had been instances of authorities pushing Rohingya boat people back to sea, contradicting earlier denials by the Thai military that abuses had been committed.
    .

“It’s not exactly clear whose work it is,” Abhisit told the television news channel. “All the authorities say it’s not their policy, but I have reason to believe otherwise, but if I can have evidence I will certainly hold the guilty parties accountable,” he said.
    .

Thai authorities have acknowledged that Rohingya boat people were towed out to sea, but denied that they were physically abused or left to die.
    .

The Thai prime minister last month ordered an investigation into accusations that almost 1,000 Rohingya refugees had been beaten, tied up and pushed out to sea in boats without engines and sufficient food supplies in December 2008.
    .

“The prime minister has said before that should there be conclusive evidence of abuses, those responsible will be held accountable,” said Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Thani Thongphakdi.
    .

Tales of abuse by Thai Navy personnel emerged after hundreds of the Rohingya boat people were rescued in the territorial waters of Indonesia and India.

As estimated 300 of the boat people pushed out to sea last December are still deemed missing and feared drowned, said Chris Lewa, coordinator of the Arakan Project, a non-government organisation that has monitored the persecution of the Rohingya minority group for years. The Rohingyas, from Myanmar’s Arakan State, have been denied citizenship in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Myanmar’s junta claims the Muslim minority originated from Bangladesh. DPA

    Rohingya towed out to sea
Thai PM says he is trying to find out who is responsible for the acts

    .

BANGKOK: – Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has admitted that the kingdom’s authorities towed refugees from Myanmar out to sea, following weeks of allegations of cruelty against the migrants.
    .
He told CNN in an interview broadcast yesterday that it was not yet clear who had approved the practice of setting minority Muslim Rohingya migrants adrift, but added that he was trying to find out.
    .
‘All the authorities say that it’s not their policy but I have reason to believe that some instances of this have happened,’ he said, when asked who was behind the policy of towing the refugees out into the open ocean.
    .
‘And if I can have the evidence as to exactly who did this, I will certainly bring them to account,’ he said.
    .
He added that he regretted ‘any losses’ that the refugees may have suffered in their ordeals, but promised to do his best ‘to correct the situation’.
    .
Hundreds of Rohingya have been rescued in Indian and Indonesian waters in recent weeks, some covered with welts.
    .
They have said they were detained and beaten before being set adrift with few supplies by Thai security forces.
    .
Rights groups fear that scores of Rohingya may have died. A photograph apparently showing the Thai navy towing refugees out to sea has been published in the media and similar images were shown by CNN yesterday.
    .
One of the photographs shows a boatload of about 190 refugees being towed out to sea.
    .
The CNN also reported a refugee as saying that he was one of the few Rohingya who had survived after six boats were towed out to sea and abandoned by the Thai authorities this month.
    .
Mr Abhisit, however, dismissed the Rohingya’s claims that they are fleeing poverty and repression in military-ruled Myanmar, insisting that they were economic migrants who were posing a strain on Thailand.
    .
‘I believe that at times when there is…a lot of pressure in terms of the numbers of these people coming in, there are attempts to try to let these people drift to other shores,’ he said.
    .
‘The one thing that is clear is that when these procedures do occur, it is done on the understanding that there is enough food and water supplied.’
    .
Many of the migrants have spoken of being set adrift with minimal food and water supplies.
    .
Thailand had previously denied all allegations of cruelty but the issue has caused embarrassment for its fledgling government.
    .
CNN reported one Thai military source as saying that Thai forces had a dump-at-sea policy. The source had defended such a policy and said that the military had given the refugees enough food and water.
    .
The issue, which has made headlines globally in the past few months, is set to be discussed at an Asean summit in Thailand later this month.
    .
Recently, actress Angelina Jolie joined the chorus of voices, calling on Thailand to respect the rights of the Rohingya.
    .
She had visited Thailand last week as a United Nations goodwill ambassador and toured a northern camp for other refugees from Myanmar, where she asked Thailand to give the 111,000 refugees housed in nine camps along the Thai-Myanmar border greater freedom of movement.
    .
Her comments drew a sharp rebuke from Thai officials, who said ‘it was not her role to comment on the matter’.

    A dream deferred
How Taraji P. Henson nearly missed her chance at Oscar glory for a yard sale.

    By Lola Ogunnaike
Will Henson win the Oscar for supporting actress? Vote at whosnewsblog.com

Taraji P. Henson has had more occupations than she cares to remember. Before becoming an acclaimed actress, her jobs included stints as a Pentagon secretary, a substitute teacher and a singing waitress. “You name it and I’ve done it,” Henson, a single mother, says with a warm laugh. “But me and my baby never went hungry, and we always had lights and heat.”

Long gone are the days when Henson, 38, had to sing for her supper. After memorable turns in films like “Baby Boy,” “Talk to Me” and the Oscar-winning “Hustle & Flow”, in which she played a pregnant prostitute, she’s well on her way to stardom. In director David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” out now, Henson plays a barren caretaker who mothers an orphaned child with a rare aging disease. The estimated $170 million dramatic fantasy with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett is Henson’s biggest film to date, and it may have earned her the chance to give an Academy Award acceptance speech next week when the best supporting actress envelope is opened.

Henson was so sure that she wouldn’t land the role (that Fincher would cast a “name”), she nearly blew off the audition. “I had a garage sale planned that day, and I was so upset that I had to cancel it,” she says over a steaming latte at a Manhattan hotel restaurant. “I went there kicking and screaming.”

Unbeknownst to her, “Button”‘s casting director, Laray Mayfield, had already decided that the part belonged to Henson. “Laray is a huge fan [of my work], and she actually started crying during my audition,” Henson says. “She was going on and on about “Hustle & Flow,” and I’m thinking, ‘Did she forget to take her medicine today?’ ”

Makeup-free and dressed down in jeans and a yellow sweater this afternoon, Henson has an undeniable natural beauty. Her cheekbones could cut glass; her cocoa skin appears never to have known a blemish. Yet, she’s drawn to roles that downplay her comeliness. In “Button,” with the help of prosthetics, she ages from 26 to 71. In the upcoming “Hurricane Season,” she’s the wife of a high school basketball coach (Forest Whitaker) in post-Katrina New Orleans. “I’m not relying on pretty or sex appeal,” Henson says with a dismissive flick of the wrist. “Yeah, I’m cute now, but things are going to eventually sag and droop. Ultimately, it’s only going to be about the acting, so let’s just get that started now.”

Henson, born and raised in Washington, D.C., knows pain. The father of her son was murdered years ago. “He was my first love, and we’d been together for eight years,” she says quietly. “It was such a senseless death.” Then, in 2005, two weeks before she performed “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” at the Oscars, Henson’s father died of liver cancer. “It still hurts,” she says. “We were very close.”

Her father, a janitor, often told her she was destined for the stage. The acting bug bit her during a kindergarten recital. “I don’t remember what I said, but I remember being the loudest and the most charming child up there,” she recalls. “I remember the audience response, and something in me just came alive. It was so intoxicating, and I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.”

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button Review
    By Matthew De Abaitua
    Our rating:
    Rating: 5.0 Stars
    (5.0)

Fable about a man who is born old and grows younger over time starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and directed by David Fincher

They say that short stories make the best films. Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ barely covers three pages. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button was a short story by F Scott Fitzgerald, a great American writer whose tortured, beautiful, boozy novels have never made an easy transition to Hollywood cinema: not one of the three adaptations of ‘The Great Gatsby’ are fondly remembered. From Fitzgerald’s conceit of a man born old and growing younger with every passing year, director David Fincher, screenwriters Eric Roth and Robin Swicord, and the cast grow an epic film about life and death, regret and perfection.

One fascinating interlude among many, the film’s looping narrative arcs gives you the sense you could almost live in it – the epic David Lean-inspired framing encourages further immersion. Fincher and his team’s technical achievement in integrating the digital make-up within a lush but grounded reality is considerable. The actors do interesting work with their characters at different points in their respective lives. Around Brad Pitt’s still, emotionally simple Benjamin, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and Taraji P Henson bring layered, inspiring, intriguing performances.

    Verdict
An unusual conceit brilliantly executed. A moving work of golden fantasy poised just above the dark waters of our own mortality.

    Changeling review
    Sat, 14 Feb 2009 12:02p.m.

    Reviewed by Kate Rodger

With an Oscar-nominated performance from Angelina Jolie, and based on actual events, Changeling is a disturbing tale of a mother’s hunt for her missing son, as a corrupt police-force works against her.

Eastwood hasn’t skimped on the production values here, this film’s an authentic slice of a time and era, with some excellent performances.

That said, as with so many of his films, a little more time in the edit booth wouldn’t have hurt, it felt a little rambling at times.

I left feeling quite disturbed by this story, so be warned this film’s not for everyone.

    Three and a half stars.

Neer, Angelina had to learn to skate in high heels in the movie, can’t even imagine how hard that must have been. She did an outstanding job portraying Christine Collins. Some say she screamed too much, wouldn’t you considering your son was gone, authorities making you take another child as a replacement and sending you to a mental hospital? Based on a true story I can see Ms Collins doing exactly what Angelina did. What mother besides Casey would just go on about their daily business with their child missing with no emotion?
Angelina nailed the part, that’s why she was nominated. Just like Angelina playing Mariene Pearl in A Mighty Heart, outstanding again. It was a very hard movie to watch and Angelina brought out the pain and loss so the moviegoers would feel it.

Lynn I don’t think Brad has much communication with that woman as he would like people to believe. I think he said tht to try and quiet the media ongoing obsession to make this war between Jan and Angie. He knows that Jen hates Angie and will do anything to get him back because she probably told him. He would never tell the world that> Also I think the W mag article was done before all those mag quoted from Aniston because he started making comments defending Angie after those mags came out. JM is an influence on the idiot and she has this hate for Ange and he doesn’t care for BP because he knows JA is still in love with him . Brad I was once told never have sex good, but only to the one you want to keep, apparently you did not hear that advice, now, you cannot not get rid of the luggage. Jennifer might be a sweetheart but look man you need to tell her the train ran off the track,, derailed please go catch the next thing that has it door open and let her know that your door is close. It does matter how you and Ange got together, it’s that you are together andappear happy, DONOT LET JENNIFER continue to subtract anything you have positive going on in your life because she is trying to stay on that train and the train is you. Throw her things off and tell her to get off your shirt tail unless you ahve something she holding over your head, you know Jennifer already said she has voice messages and also you wrote her a 18 page note begging. Brad your elevator went straight up to the top with Angelina don’t let a Sick clown like Jennifer pull you down in the gutter no matter how money she has, with her it all about winning and destroying your life especially with Angelina. I wish the both of you the very best Oscar night no matter how they vot you and Ange are WINNERS!!!!!!!!GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY……..

NOMINATED FOR: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Changeling (2008)

It’s thrilling to see the philanthropic mommy and daddy both receive lead-acting nominations (for Changeling and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, respectively), as it adds high-wattage star power to a ceremony that’s otherwise set to be filled with lots of lesser-known – if equally talented – names. Regardless of whether either collects an award, we’re just excited for the inevitable red-carpet chaos that their arrival always brings.

i don’t care bout awards or jennifer, i just hope angie can give more voice for these rohignya people. i was watching at youtube about their tragic and the atrocities thry experience from myanmar down to thai soldiers. i can’t fathom a country like thailand would do something like that to some poor, homeless, destitute people. they showed no mercy. i recall when tsunami strike, they were helped and aided by foreign countries but what a SHAME. i hope they will remember this next , when another tsunami or catastrophe strike GOD FORBID, they will remember what they DID to these ROHINGYAs. they were lucky to have better condition than them, but they failed to show compassion, especially those who are responsible for beating them, including their foreign minister and prime minister need to be put a boat for a month and sent adrift to the ocean with no food and shelter.i use to feel sorry for thailand about the tsunami but now i am beggining to question it.though i must have to say those who died are innocent unlike these deadbeat thais.
