OlderJennifer Lopez is West Side Story's Anita
Jennifer Lopez portrays defiant Latina immigrant Anita and helps re-create scenes from the beloved 1961 film version of West Side Story.
The 39-year-old singer/actress watched the film “37 times” as a kid growing up in the Bronx. Says Lopez, “I never wanted to be that wimpy Maria, who sits around pining for her guy. I wanted to be Anita, who danced her way to the top.”
West Side Story is currently playing on Broadway. Tickets available now!
In semi-related news, Jennifer was/is rumored to be involved in the big screen adaptation of the Broadway hit In The Heights.

fyi….when Rita Moreno…did anita she was no spring chicken herself. and Jlo does not look 39……as a matter of fact she makes the whole thing credidable…..while camila does not do justice to Natile woods.

it is so sad that they always ruin the image of talented people by replacing them with the untaleted ones, eg. j low. please tell her to just go have babies and stop embarassing herself. she was, is and always will be a has been. the only reason she got famous was because she was shoved up our asses 24/7. look at salma hayek and penelope cruze. now they are true talent, one nominated for oscar and the other one an oscar winner. stop trying so hard j low. get over yourself. and man talk about photoshop.

Wow, I hope it’s true because I can definitely see Jlo in the Anita role. All the haters are going to come out in droves especially the ones from Univision.
